We are pleased to present this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Polar Silver Metallic.  With its low production numbers, wide Turbo-derived bodywork, and rear-wheel-drive configuration, the 993 Carrera S represents one of the most sought-after air-cooled Porsches of all time.  This final-year 1998 example left the factory with many desirable options including the Aerokit Package, Motor Sound Package, and a Midnight Blue leather interior with supple leather upholstery and the Aluminum/Chrome Package.  Acquired by the second and current owner in 2006, this Carrera S is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey while showing approximately 22k miles on the odometer and accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

This 993 is finished in Polar Silver Metallic and features a model-specific split-grille rear decklid.  This example was ordered with the factory Exclusive Aerokit I Package which adds a lower front spoiler. An original Aerokit II rear decklid will also accompany the sale along with new "Carrera S" lettering should the next owner prefer to install it for a full Aerokit appearance.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery showing the car in both configurations, along with a clean CARFAX report.  Oval stainless-steel tailpipes are included as part of the Aluminum/Chrome Package and this 993 rides on factory 18” Turbo-look wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Bridgestone Potenza S-04 tires that were reportedly installed within the last 3 years.

The driver is situated within a Midnight Blue leather interior with supple leather seats and Exclusive options including aluminum instrument dials and stainless-steel door entry guards with model logos as well as a shifter and handbrake lever in leather/aluminum.  Other factory features include the Power Seat Package, Heated Front Seat Package, Comfort Package, and left seat lumbar support.  The original radio has been replaced in favor of a modern OEM-style Continental Bluetooth head unit, and the seller notes that the A/C blows cold.

This 993 Carrera S features an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine that sends as much as 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  The factory optional Motor Sound Package also enhances the tone with louder mufflers and a more resonant airbox.  The seller notes that a full service has been carried out in preparation for sale including an oil change, brake fluid flush, and new transmission fluid.

This sale will include two sets of keys, original owner's manuals, toolkit, air compressor, spare tire, a painted Aerokit II rear spoiler, new "Carrera S" badging, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. The 993 Carrera S is a must-have for any avid Porsche collector, do not miss your chance to own this generously appointed 1998 example.

I didn't realize that Polar Silver was offered in 1998. I thought that 1997-1998 cars were Arctic Silver only. You learn something new every day!

This is a beautiful and very rare example of a 1998 993 S with the highly desirable factory Aerokit Package, breathtaking Midnight Blue interior and with only 22K miles. I think a lot of people will be fighting over this special 993 S during the last 2 minutes of the auction. Good luck to ALL bidders.

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@911reasons I do not know the answer to that. It is listed on the Certificate of Authenticity though.

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

should the side aero 1 show up as an option on the build sticker?

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@911reasons No, the car came with the split grill and the side aero. That is the aero 1 option. I found the aero tail (already painted) years ago and bought the front aero new and had it painted. I have had a few comments that the front aero with the split grill looks really good, and that’s probably how I would keep it if it doesn’t sell.

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

did both rear hoods come with the car when first purchased from the dealer?

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@F1tifosi I don’t feel it is trash talking ( not too much, anyway :). You are right, it’s a subjective thing, totally up to the potential bidder. As I have said, I had no idea, and were it not for the paint meter, I think anyone would be hard pressed to tell. That being said, I am trying to be totally up front here. The car is not perfect, but it is a low miles, highly optioned C2S in a desirable color combo, and although I don’t drive it much, if it doesn’t sell, maybe I’ll start driving it more. I could have touched up the little scratches, but I thought I’d present the car as it is, and let the next owner decide. Thanks everyone, and happy bidding. There will
Also be a nice new set of coco mats for the next owner.

  • F1tifosi (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

I do not believe in trash talking someone’s listing but Roku12 comment about meter readings of 11 translating into “no big deal” are 100% subjective. Someone looking for an all original car will not celebrate respray whether or not there are deep “puddy/butter” readings. A respray is a respray and I personally would rather have the nicks and scrapes shown on this car’s rear deck lid, than a respray. Regardless, this is a great car and clearly a great seller. Good luck…

  • Roku12 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Looks like driver side and hood painted but no meter readings over 11… looking good - just cosmetic

  • PCARMARKET 2 years, 8 monthsago

New content has been added to the photo gallery.

  • Roku12 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@linzman If it meters as cosmetic paint work it should not be of concern to bidders. A few 993s that recently sold for huge $$ had cosmetic paint work. Evidence of filler (high meter readings) is different

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

I finally got my paint meter today and was very much surprised to find that the drivers side has been resprayed. Meter readings have been uploaded and should be available soon. I had no idea, and have had several people who know these cars look at it over the years, and recently, without noticing. It was done very very well. In the interest of disclosure, I have also posted a picture of the rear deck lid, which has some some small scratches, likely from when I had it in storage.

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@toby I just took a closer look, it looks like some flaking inside the gauge.

  • toby (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@911reasons Im almost certain the faces are originally plastic on the 993 so due to age it could be cracking. I had my Tachometer face lens replaced with glass by N Hollywood Speedometer after the OBC light needed replacing. A minor fix considering the rest of the car looks mint

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@911reasons I am not sure what you are referring to.

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Is that oxidation or corrosion on the speedometer bezel ring?

I wish you listed this 3 months ago. Polar is my absolute favorite. I think PCAR may be getting a new listing soon for a 30k mile Arctic silver 993 c2s. The want is real. Good luck with auction.

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@MCCresto I saw the black 997.2, although that auction ends a day before mine. Wouldn’t it be awful to win that auction, and end up with both cars in my garage if mine does t sell :)

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@F1tifosi I am working on getting a paint meter. As far as I know, the only thing that is not original paint from the factory is the front splitter that is part of the aero II package.

  • MCCresto (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    @linzman
Back in late ‘97 I was able to buy a new silver w same blue interior as yours. Unfortunately I ‘upgraded’ to a new ‘03 C4S, because I wanted the latest. Now, as a collector, I finally found a perfect replacement to correct that mistake. Another favorite along the way has been the 997.2 GT3. There’s a black one listed here that looks great as well.

  • linzman (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@MCCresto Thanks for the kind words. I am starting to wonder if it was a mistake listing it. As much as I love it, my thoughts are to get something I will drive a bit more, maybe a 997 GT3, but I will miss the 993 for sure.

My silver w gray interior C2S has only 6300 miles, but this car checks even more boxes w the gorgeous blue leather and aerokit which IMO looks even better without wing.
These last air-cooled are simply the finest Porsches built. Hope this goes for big $. If it doesn’t, I may end up w 2.

  • 92UScup (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Beautiful car! Nice blue interior, excellent combo to the silver. Looks perfect! From recent sales these cars are becoming more and more valuable. GLWTS.

Hello everyone. I am listing this 98 C2S. I bought the car for my 40th birthday. It is a spectacular example, but as you can see from the carfax, I just don’t drive it much anymore. If there are any questions or requests, don’t hesitate to ask. I will do my best to answer in a timely manner. Happy bidding ?
