We are pleased to offer this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Polar Silver over a black interior. Representing the final model year of Porsche’s air-cooled 911, this 1998 Carrera S sports the wide bodywork of the Turbo model coupled with a unique split grille rear decklid. It was also generously optioned with the Motor Sound Package, a limited-slip differential, Automatic Braking Differential (ABD), and lightweight hollow spoke Technology wheels as well as an Exclusive shift knob and handbrake lever in carbon fiber. Service records have been kept dating back to 2000, and this 993 has been under the care of its third and current owner since 2006. Showing approximately 57k miles on the odometer, this final-year 993 Carrera S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.
This 993 comes finished in Polar Silver and rides on factory-optioned 18” Technology hollow spoke wheels derived from the Turbo model. The seller notes several imperfections throughout the exterior including some road-going wear on the front bumper and a slight blemish below the driver’s side door lock. As noted on CARFAX in 2011, the car sustained a parking lot dent to the passenger rear-quarter panel which was subsequently repaired, refinished, and blended into the C-pillar. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. The wheels come dressed in a set of Continental ExtremeContact tires dated from 2013.
Inside, you will find a black interior an optional 8-way power driver’s seat, electric sunroof, cruise control, a 6-disc CD changer, and Exclusive carbon fiber-trimmed shifter and handbrake levers. A Porsche 996 three-spoke steering has been installed along with Coco floor mats and an updated Porsche CR-220 radio paired with upgraded speakers and an aftermarket trunk-mounted amplifier. Slight wear is present on the driver’s seat bolster and the seller confirms all instrumentation and accessories to be working properly. The original Porsche CR-210 radio is said to accompany the sale.
This Carrera S features an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine that sends as much as 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission with an optional limited-slip differential and Automatic Braking Differential (ABD). The factory optioned Motor Sound Package includes a special airbox and mufflers for a more aggressive tone. Service records are said to date back as far as 2000 including replacement of the clutch in 2015 and an overhaul of the transmission in 2019 with all-new synchros and redone 1st/2nd gears. There’s some mild underside corrosion. Probably no big deal, but I wonder if it could be removed by cryoblasting. Anyone with experience on that?
To the proud perspective future owner you need to drain off some of the engine oil. This car appears too have too much oil in it. The oil temp gauge isn't even at the first line and yet the oil level gauge is way too high. Check the dipstick with the engine running and level ground when fully warmed up (hot) and the should read between the the high and low marks. Likely you'll find its above the full mark which isn't good.

@tct118 When the vehicle was in for service, a car above it leaked fluid on the hood which caused the stain. There is no recent PPI. In 2019, the Porsche had a major service and the car was thoroughly inspected. Any issues with the car were addressed at that time. The invoice is in the photos.

- What is the discoloration blemish line (~8") on the paint on the hood by the driver hood spray nozzle (Pic 142)? Has that part of the hood been retouched?

@Dsl11 so the fluid has not been changed since the last service. The recommendation was to change it after 2000 miles. Unfortunately, the car has only traveled 400 miles since the service in 2019. As far as the the front bumper, I have no knowledge of it ever being replaced.
