Named “Bike of the Year” by Cycle Guide upon its debut in 1985, the Yamaha V-Max is a power cruiser renowned for its V4 DOHC V-Boost engine, shaft drive transmission, and distinctive styling. This 1998 example is said to have undergone a complete restoration including aviation-grade Fawn Beige Metallic paintwork, rebuilt forks, and new tires. This V-Max 1200 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

The V-Max chassis uses a steel double-frame cradle with a rear twin-shock swingarm and 40mm Kayaba front forks. This example is said to have had its fairings and fuel tank refinished in the classic GM color of Fawn Beige Metallic by a professional private jet painter during its restoration. It features chrome mirrors, handlebars, and tailpipes, as well as polished ram air intakes, a black Corbin Comfort Cell seat, a low-profile windscreen, and black-painted wheels dressed in new Bridgestone Exedra G526 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Power comes from a liquid-cooled, four-stroke V4 DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder, 4x35mm Mikuni carburetors, and the Yamaha V-Boost system. A 5-speed shaft drive transmission sends up to 140 HP to the rear wheel while stopping power comes from 2-piston brake calipers paired with twin cross-drilled discs in front and a single disc at the rear. The seller indicates the forks were rebuilt with new seals and there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.

This sale will include a clean title.
