This 1999 BMW M Roadster is finished in Dakar Yellow II over a Black Nappa leather interior and is said to be one of only 291 examples ordered in this color combination. It comes equipped with a 3.2L S52 inline-six borrowed from the E36 M3 as well as its larger brakes and limited-slip differential. It was originally titled in Virginia and spent time in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Michigan before being acquired by the seller in 2018. It has been fitted with an upgraded sound system, and the seller reports the clutch slave cylinder hose has been recently replaced along with a flush of the clutch system. Now showing approximately 63k miles on the odometer, this 1999 BMW M Roadster is being offered at auction by its seller out of Ohio.
The exterior is finished in Dakar Yellow II (337) with a manually-operated black convertible soft top. The M Roadster can be distinguished from a standard Z3 by its wider rear track, aerodynamic side mirrors, M-style bumpers, vented fenders, and quad exhaust outlets. A set of aftermarket ASA AR1 wheels with a black face and polished lip are mounted with Sumitomo tires.
The interior features two power-adjustable and heated sport seats upholstered in Black Nappa leather with a matching dashboard, center console, and door panels. Model-specific details include M Roadster-branded door sill plates, chrome-ringed M instrumentation, a leather M-Sport steering wheel, and a ZHP shift knob. The seller reports an upgraded sound system with an Alpine head unit, new speakers, and a Rockford Fosgate amplifier have been fitted. Driver’s amenities consist of air conditioning, cruise control, power heated side mirrors, and a heated driver’s door lock. The seller notes some minor wear on the driver’s side seat bolster.
The M Roadster is powered by a 3.2L S52 derived from the E36 M3 generating up to 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. Performance features include an M-Sport suspension with a lower ride height, stiffened springs and dampers, strengthened semi-trailing arms, and a reinforced subframe. I just uploaded pictures of trunk area so Pcar can add to pictures on site
It's not too tough, you just have to pull up carpet in the trunk to expose the welds that run across the rear of the floor and the seams. The welds have a tendency to 'pop'/floors tear/diff ears tear. I have a 99 M that I bought about 5 years ago and it had popped welds and a tear in the trunk floor - but I knew that going in. Mine's been bulletproof and I love the car. It's also my wife's favorite for when we take a cruise ( I have 7 other cars to choose from). Wonderful vehicles and a great color combo! GLWTS

Good looking car, but really need to see the trunk floor welds. It's a known weakness with these cars.
Since we have had this BMW we put the top down by releasing the two latches under sun visors and lower top down with one hand then just pull top back up and latch, works very easy. Never looked into automatic operation.
In the description it says manual soft top. These all had hydraulic automatic top operation. Can you please clarify this?
