Capitalizing on the Z3 Roadster’s excellent driving characteristics, the M Roadster was introduced in 1997 as a high-performance model with a fixed roof and a wider stance along with an S52 inline-six engine borrowed from the BMW M3. This 1999 M Coupe is one of 479 examples known to have come finished in Estoril Blue during the model’s entire North American production run. It wears a Sand Beige Oregon Leather interior and benefits from a service recently completed after the owner’s purchase in late 2022. A true modern classic and a sought-after driver’s car, this M Coupe is now being offered for auction with approximately 160k miles showing on the odometer.

This M Coupe is finished in Estoril Blue, one of the most distinctive BMW colors of all. Compared to the Z3 Roadster, the M Coupe receives a fixed roof and hatchback tailgate for added rigidity along with unique bumpers, fender grilles, mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. The brake calipers are painted orange and the factory 17” Style 40 wheels are powder-coated black. New Toyo Proxes P4 Plus tires were mounted by the previous owner between 130k-135k miles. The CARFAX report shows an accident in 2004 and the seller states the front end of the car was refinished more recently to address the damage. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with Sand Beige Oregon Leather and includes heated Sport Seats, a black multifunction M Sport steering wheel, M-logo door sills, a sunroof, and chrome-trimmed instrument gauges unique to M models. The airbag warning light is present, and the seller notes the battery voltage gauge and radio are nonfunctional.

The M Coupe shares its 3.2-liter S52 inline-six engine with the E36 M3, delivering up to 240 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The M Coupe’s front brakes are also borrowed from the M3 while the suspension is lowered, stiffened, and fitted with thicker anti-roll bars from the factory. The clutch is said to have been replaced by the previous owner at 143k miles as well as a new valve cover gasket at 130k miles. More recently, the seller oversaw replacements of the spark plugs, ignition coils, and engine oil.
