Built in Georgia by the Panoz Auto Development Company from 1996 until 1999, the Panoz AIV (Aluminum Intensive Vehicle) Roadster is a lightweight open two-seater powered by a 4.6-liter Ford V8 from the Mustang SVT Cobra. This example is one of only 176 Panoz AIV Roadsters produced in total and is among the last in the series with a production date of October 1999. It was sold new on a dealer invoice to Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo Ferrari in Oregon, with the dealership’s goal of becoming an authorized Panoz retailer in the area. The car is accompanied by an original letter from the Director of Sales, a prospective dealer package, press reports, paint samples, and a certificate of origin. This Panoz was reportedly kept at the dealership until it was purchased by its first titled owner in 2021 with approximately 300 miles on the odometer. This rare and highly collectible hand-built American sports car is now being offered for auction out of Virginia with only 402 miles shown.
With aluminum comprising 70% of its construction, the AIV Roadster is based on a large-bore extruded aluminum spaceframe with and aluminum backbone and superplastic-formed aluminum body panels attached using a special adhesive. This example is finished in Metallic Blue clearcoat paint and features optional wind wings, the Aluminum Accent Package, and 18” BBS aluminum wheels. Other equipment includes fiberglass fenders, rear stone guards, a hood scoop, dual mirrors, a polished aluminum fuel cap, and dual central tailpipes. The original tires are equipped, and the exterior is described to be in excellent condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cockpit features tan leather upholstery with brown carpets and optional Italian Walnut wood trim. Other accessories include a black leather four-spoke steering wheel, embossed headrests, an aluminum shift knob, aluminum pedals, Panoz-branded floor mats, air conditioning, and an Alpine CD stereo. All gauges and electronics are said to be fully functional.
Sourced from Ford’s SVT division, the 4.6-liter DOHC aluminum modular V8 delivers up to 300 HP and 305 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual Bord-Warner T45 transmission and a Ford 8.8” rear end with a 3.27:1 limited-slip differential. The car also features four-wheel independent suspension with adjustable coilovers and disc brakes from the Mustang SVT Cobra with vented discs measuring 13” in front and 10” in the rear.
This sale will include a collection of original documentation and dealer promotional material, owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, service records, a battery charger, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “What a great find with a really interesting documented history file. One of the last ones produced and certainly the lowest mileage Panoz to be offered in recent history.”

As we are in the final minutes now I would like to thank the 1400 plus people for taking their time to look at our Panoz listing. Good luck to all bidders out there and I will gladly assist with getting this car shipped. Also PCARMARKET has a new feature that allows you to follow sellers so please include me in your list. I have some very interesting vehicles coming in the next few weeks. Thanks again Bill

Canadian_Collector bid with confidence that you are getting everything you asked for. Thanks
Victory!!! The puzzle is complete. A search of the previous owners garage has yielded the original soft top and storage bag. I will be posting pictures of it before the auction end in a few hours. Very happy to have located it for the next owner. Bill
Appreciate your comment and hopefully it goes to the home it deserves and does have an occasional sprint around to keep it fresh mechanically. Also in my conversation with the representative from Panoz it is the 24th car produced with the production date 10-1999. Thanks
This won't be cheap... wish it had 25k miles on it so I could buy it right and DRIVE it. As it sits its too nice to thrash around in. GLWTS

Per my conversation with Panoz 30 minutes ago they had no record of the car in the internal system and asked that I provide them with all documentation that I have. They are going to update the records so the car can be included in the registry. I see what you see on the paperwork but the top is not with the. One is attainable from Panoz and can be ordered directly from them if desired. Thanks
@ridecooler From when this car sold at Sothebys in 2020:
It was optioned with wind wings, floor mats, and the aluminum accent package. Weather protection is provided by a two-bow soft top and side curtains stored in a Panoz case.
Good day to all, I spoke with Panoz today about the soft top and found that it was an option and not included as standard equipment. Thanks Bill
Sorry about that in the listing, it is an error. I will have it corrected. As I said earlier I have left a message with the previous owner to see if he has it. Thanks
@ridecooler description says it comes with a black soft top?
Good morning to all, as for the top question we do not have one or a toneau for the car. In my research the roadster did not come with either. It does have cover pins on the body and windshield frame and I will contact the previous owner just in case there was a cockpit cover. As for the windshield Canadian _ Collector the company that manufactured is still in business. Viracon located in Minnesota. Thanks Bill
I assume the windshield is proprietary? Anybody know if replacements are available. I have had many cars now with parts that are long gone, not sure I want to do it again. lol.
does it have a top? Picture?
All I gotta say about these little scooters is: "Don`t knock it, until you try it !" They are a blast !

Just an update. I will get the underside pictures done when the rain stops since I have to move it from one garage to the other. Hopefully I can get it done by Saturday or Sunday. Thanks Bill
Bid in the amount of $5,000
We will be doing a comprehensive inspection on the car tomorrow and will change fluids due to time and replacing the battery as it no longer will hold a charge. If anything else is evident that needs to be addressed we will do that as well. I don’t expect to find any issues due to the low mileage and proper storage of the car. Also I will be taking the underside pictures and will get them posted asap. Thanks Bill
What service has been done to this car for the sale? I assume it has been a static collector car for the last 25 years.
