Up for auction at no reserve is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior.  This first-generation 996 Carrera came factory equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and extended leather upholstery on the front and rear seats, dashboard, and door panels.  It has spent nearly its entire life in California and was recently purchased by the seller from its long-term third owner who is said to have provided the utmost care and attention throughout his 15 years of ownership.  An upgraded K&N air intake has been installed along with a B&B exhaust, and an IMS bearing upgrade and clutch replacement are said to have been carried out at around 80k miles.  Now showing just under 100k miles on the odometer, this Carrera Cabriolet is being offered for auction without reserve by its seller out of California (please note that the car is not available to retail buyers in CA).

This 996 is finished in Guards Red with a black cabriolet soft top.  The seller reports the canvas top and rear window to have been previously replaced and notes some general signs wear throughout the exterior.  The passenger side rocker panel is said to have been previously refinished and blended into part of the door and rear quarter panel to address a parking scratch, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This Carrera rides 17” Porsche 996 Twist wheels that are currently dressed in Yokohama YK580 tires.

Inside, you will find a premium black full leather interior with optional extended leather upholstery covering the front and rear seats, dashboard, and door panels.  Other factory options include a 3-spoke steering wheel, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, and driver’s seat position memory.  Minor signs of wear are noted on the front seats and the seller reports a slightly wavy appearance to the leather on the dashboard above the glovebox when the car is cold.  An upgraded Alpine Bluetooth stereo unit has been installed along with an Alpine CD changer in the front trunk.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.

This Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine that generates as much as 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque stock.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, and stopping power is handled by fixed 4-piston calipers clamping down on ventilated and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.  An upgraded K&N air intake has been installed along with a B&B exhaust for enhanced sound and power output.  A consistent history of routine maintenance is shown on the CARFAX report and the previous owner is said to have carried out an IMS bearing upgrade and clutch replacement at around 80k miles.  An oil change has been recently carried out in preparation for sale and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.

This sale will include one master key, owner's manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title. Please note that the car is not available to retail buyers in CA. The seller is a licensed wholesale dealer in CA and buyers must either be out of state or hold a valid CA dealer license. If you have been in search of a 6-speed Porsche 996, this no-reserve 1999 Carrera Cabriolet offers a fantastic value.

@stuttgartcentral So just to be clear, I read the earlier comments about the California Dealer rules--So as a California bidder I have no way to take delivery on the car, unless it's first transferred to a dealer other than you? Is that an option, and does that add additional dealer fees to the deal, beyond the buyer's premium? And would these rules change if this was a Deal Tank sale, for example? Thanks.

@BeachBoy1 we are a licensed CA wholesale dealership. We can either transfer title to another CA dealership or transfer to an individual for title in a different state, but we cannot transfer directly to an individual retail buyer looking to title the car in CA.

Why no retail buyers in Calif?

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@stupendous The photos are now posted. Work done within 1,000 miles of the 90k mark includes the IMS retrofit, transmission rebuild, MAF replacement, valve cover replacement, O2 sensors, and numerous other items. The car also received an extensive service at the 98k mark (less than 2,000 miles ago) that includes more routine items.

  • stupendous (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@stuttgartcentral Thanks! Looking forward to seeing them. Just wanted to reiterate my other question on the 90k mile service... As this is a major service for the car.

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@stupendous Thanks for pointing out the sticker! The repair was done by an independent specialist for the previous owner, so I’m not sure about the registration with LN. the receipt for the repair is included with the car and a photo of that receipt will be uploaded shortly.

The car comes with a large stack of repair and maintenance records. I’ve taken photos of the significant ones and submitted them to @pcarmarket. They should be posted to the auction very soon.

    Hello,

@ABD20152 In Photo 62, there is the sticker for LN Engineering that would indicate that an IMS bearing replacement was done.

@stuttgartcentral The car does not show up in the LN lookup. Was the retrofit not registered with LN Engineering?

Also, what service was done at 90,000? It does not seem to indicate that in the Carfax.

    Thanks.

  • stuttgartcentral (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Hello and welcome bidders! I apologize for the delayed engagement and document photos.

@ABD20152 I have attached photos of the large stack of receipts for the car which go back over 15 years. As stated in the description, this car has been meticulously maintained and cared for. The receipts include not only the IMS upgrade, but also the new convertible top and mechanicals, replacement of nearly every cooling system component, and a complete transmission rebuild!

I encourage everyone to look through the photos once posted and let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be engaged throughout the auction and look forward to introducing the lucky winner to this awesome 911!

where does it say on Carfax the IMS Bearing service? Im not finding it. Do you have a record or certification of the service performed?
