Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe finished in blue with extensive modifications. It was acquired by the current owner about two years ago and had previously received a rebuilt engine including an upgraded IPD intake plenum, racing headers, and LN Engineering IMS bearing. The car also features a fully adjustable H&R suspension, Eibach sway bars, CSF racing 3-piece aluminum radiators, a limited-slip differential, lightweight OZ wheels, a roll cage, a rear wing, and a pair of Cobra racing seats with safety harnesses. Accompanied by a clean title, this Carrera Is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

The exterior has been refinished in a metallic blue and modified with a polyurethane TechArt front bumper, aftermarket LED taillights and a fixed rear wing. It rides on aftermarket 18” OZ Superleggera lightweight racing wheels dressed in Continental tires. The factory specifications label on the underside of the hood shows the car’s original color to have been Arctic Silver Metallic (L92U). A small dent is noted on the passenger door as well as minor signs of wear on the front end. The seller adds that the car has been driven only six times on local roads during their ownership and has never been subjected to track use. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing the vehicle to have been deemed a total loss by an insurance company following collision damage in 2012.

The black interior has been fitted with a white-painted GMG roll cage as well as Cobra Monaco Pro racing seats with Sparco bases and 6-point harnesses. Other modifications include a Sparco steering wheel, a raised short-throw aluminum racing shifter, an aftermarket double-din head unit, and a painted center console surround. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the air conditioning.

Power comes from a rebuilt 3.4L flat-six engine featuring an upgraded IPD plenum, high-flow air intake, racing headers (incl. cats), CSF Racing 3-piece aluminum radiators, LN Engineering IMS bearing, and aluminum flywheel with carbon ceramic inserts. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Other upgrades include an adjustable H&R Clubsport suspension with Eibach sway bars and end links. New spark plugs and ignition coils are said to have been installed and the seller notes an oil change is due.

This sale will include a clean New York title.

@duke11 thanks for the reply! Very engaged sellers do best in these auctions!
I’m really looking for a 997 Cup car, but you never know! It would make a great PCA/DE track car for sure…? GLWTA

@chipbryan88 completely street legal , i drove to and from car shows only. the trk wpn is a printed plate for shows. by the way i own multiple porsches , this one always draws a crowd at porsche meets , buy it for a fraction of the build cost, easy reserve.

Interesting track car donor possibilities. There seems to be an epidemic of horrific Carfax reports lately...but it really doesn't matter as long as tub is straight and solid. I find it amusing to read: "The seller adds that the car has been driven only six times on local roads during their ownership and has never been subjected to track use"...when the tag reads "Track Weapon" abbreviated...not bashing, as it's quite obviously going to be headed back to the track with it's new owner :-)

Seller hasn’t provided too much info. Anyway the way I see it this is a roller plus. If I get it cheap I’m buying, then it’s up to me and my mechanic to change , modify, improve. This car seems to be like a box of chocolates, you don’t know what you are going to get!!

  • ferakobv (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

How does it have a clean title if it was written off as a total loss?

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Do you have any additional details on the rebuilt than what is shown or already stated here? This is why I’m asking , they rennlist we have composed a list of possibilities for rebuilts with different vendors. You can be talking about a $10k rebuilt or a $24k rebuilt. It’s to your benefit to provide as many information as possible.

    Hi;
Any cylinder compression test done within the past months?

  • jbelcredi (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Have you got any details on the engine rebuild?
How many miles on the rebuilt engine?

  • duke11 (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

It should be easy to remove the roll cage as it’s a Bolt in

That air intake doesn’t work. Needs Carrera 3.8 S airbox. Anyway I like the blue. Who rebuilt the engine and to what specs, displacement etc. I own a 3/98. How easy would it be to remove the roll cage ??
