@996hopeful - There are 6 wheels. The 4 with tires are 2 fronts and 2 rears.
The 2 wheels without tires. I do not actually know if they are fronts or rears. I'd have to go back and look.

do you by chance have any pics of the extra set of wheels? thanks!

  • fiascoj (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

@Tanner98 Excellent! Thank you for uploading this!

  • Tanner98 (seller) 3 weeks, 2 daysago

@fiascoj - See photo 113 - you should see a screenshot of the Durametric application reading.
That range 2 event happens for 123 ignitions at 48.8h out of a total of 522.5 hrs total running.

This should now alleviate any doubt that the range 2 event happened on the old engine. We can have 100% confidence in that.

Please excuse the Range1 that happened a few hours of service ago - these are expected from time to time. At 6700rpm that equates to less than 0.3 second of hitting the rev limit. I recall exactly when it happened. I bounced off the rev limit in 2nd gear - the car revved too fast for me that time.

@fiascoj - The shocks are Bilstein B4 - (OEM replacement) part numbers 22-147448 and 24-147644. They were bought on 03/15/2021 and fitted on 03/21/2021 - so that would be within the last 300 miles and are essentially brand new.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@fiascoj - I think it's just bad grammar on that report. The best way to resolve your question would be to pull up a new DME report. I will get a new one tomorrow.

  • jctsc 3 weeks, 3 daysago

Bid in the amount of $7,000

  • fiascoj (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

Also, which Bilstein shocks are in this car and when were they installed?

  • fiascoj (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@Tanner98 Image 95 is dated June 2020 at 111k km and states "Number of ignitions in range 2: 123." That indicates the number of ignition pulses in range 2 - not the operating hour of latest overrev. Did previous owners provide a DME readout from an earlier date or is it possible to see report that lists both ignition count and operating hour?... not trying to nit-pick, just trying to understand the claim about overrevs happening on the first engine.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

@fiascoj - No worries - the DME report starts on picture 95.

The report is only showing the most recent 1's and 2's. I believe the 996.1 computer will store.
The report is showing the most recent range 2 ignition was at 123 hours.
If you scroll to image 95, it shows the dash mileage of when the engine was replaced under warranty (at 39290 miles)
These two images support the fact that the range 2 ignition happened on the first engine, before it was replaced.

It was maybe a missed gear-downshift, I should have asked the 2nd owner at the time. I think that's the only way these range2 ignitions can happen.

  • fiascoj (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 3 daysago

Hi Seller, do you have an DME report that provides the operating hour when range 2 last happened? Apologies if you had uploaded it and I missed it.

Interesting...Genuine OEM Litronics are about 2k a piece from Suncoast. I don't see any non-oem assemblies for sale, so I'm going to assume that like the hollow spokes, the previous owner had a few bucks to spend on retrofit bits.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

    @SVTJayC - Porsche OEM Litronics 100% confirmed - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h38l-t4EYcw

You will see the lo-beam first, then the high-beam. then after I turned the ignition off and then on again, you should notice the lights going up and down.

Thanks for helping me figure this out - I had noticed this behaviour before whilst reversing out of the garage.

  • SVTJayC (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

Did they use a retrofit harness like Pelican sells? ie does the hi-beam / low-beam functionality work? The lights should shift up and down.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

@SVTJayC The headlights are not original factory, since the 2nd owner offered the originals - I declined.
The wheels are not factory, since the 408 code does not appear on the hood sticker. (It is possible the wheels were optioned at the dealer upon purchase.)

    The wheels are Porsche lightweights.

I cannot say that the headlights are Litronics since I have no paperwork for them. I recall the shop the 2nd owner used telling me they are OEM Porsche, but without removing them for the car, I cannot state this with certainty. (I only know that they work excellently for night time driving)

  • SVTJayC (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

So the headlights and wheels are not original? Anything else other than the springs?

The wheels are oem Porsche lightweights?

Are the headlights OEM Porsche litronic units?

@PBradz - I almost forgot that the car comes with the original amber rear lights as supplied by the 2nd owner. He wanted to charge (a lot of) extra money for the original front headlights, but I passed on those. Really the Xeon headlights are a massive upgrade for night driving and since I had planned to keep the car, I really did not see the point in paying extra for them.

(I am about to upload a picture of the original tail lights that are included as part of the sale.)

  • PBradz (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

@Tanner98 It was indeed the 1st time a new model weighed in less that its predecessor. The “early builds” were done on the 993 assembly line, so more hand fitting of parts. It looks like your taillights have been replaced as I believe they should have the Amber edges, not silver. They commonly crack so I’m not surprised to see them on a FL car. Your headliner will be different from later cars and a few other small items that are called out in that Rennlist forum I referenced…

  • Tanner98 (seller) 4 weeksago

@jccaro - They are indeed hollow spoke. When I get the underside pics - I'll be sure to snap the inside and the part numbers to remove any doubt.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 4 weeksago

@PBradz Thanks. @PBradz . These early 996's coupes are indeed special and I only just found out that they weigh less than the previous model 993's.
Is that a first for Porsche? They tend to get heavier with the newer models not lighter.

  • PBradz (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

@Tanner98 That’s a pretty early production date! You’re welcome for the price boost. 😉

Check out the early 996 registry section on Rennlist…

  • jccaro (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

    @Tanner98 Thanks!

  • jccaro (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

@Tanner98 are you sure they are the part number for the 408 option (Hollow Spoke 993)?

  • Tanner98 (seller) 4 weeksago

@PBradz - I just snapped the driver-side door sticker and uploaded a close up of the passenger side.

@jccaro - The options sticker should be there now.

The code for Arena Red and LSD options are there.

I do not know when the 18" hollow spokes were fitted, if they could have been Factory or Dealer or one of the 2 previous owners. It was not me for sure.

Thank you. If they didn't find cam deviation, then they wouldn't have needed to change out the ramps. So that tracks.

  • Tanner98 (seller) 4 weeksago

@SVTJayC - The engine was replaced under Porsche warranty. The cause is not mentioned in the paperwork but evidence of a "range 1" overrev seems to correlate to just before the engine change in terms of working hours of when the event occurred. I will upload an image of my pre-purchase report today.

I have documentation of the pre-qualification - all checks were done except for the timing chain ramps. I will upload images of what I have today. I did have some email and phone correspondence with George Navarro - owner of LN engineering (the suppliers of the IMS solution) and he commented that this one of the neatest install he had ever seen! I will upload pics of this too.

It's true, only 400 miles or so during my ownership. I got very busy and my wife doesn't like my driving and the attention the car receives. This color is so beautiful, in my opinion the best color for a 996, we get noticed everywhere we go.

  • SVTJayC (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

Also, has this car only been driving 300 miles in the last 4 years, or is there a mistake in the Carfax?

    07/30/2021 69,360

  • SVTJayC (registered bidder) 4 weeksago

Any documentation on why it needed an engine in 2002?

Do you have the documentation for the IMS Solution install? Was the entire pre-qualification done? ie bore scoping for scoring, oil analysis, timing chain ramps, cam deviation, etc?

    Thank you.
