Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over a Savannah Beige leather interior.  Carrying a 3.4 L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 996 also comes factory equipped with 18” Turbo Twist wheels, extended leather upholstery, and draped leather seats.  Reported to have undergone a ceramic IMS bearing upgrade along with some other noteworthy recent service items, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller in California with approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer.

The condition of the Ocean Blue Metallic finish is depicted in the photo gallery.  A color-matched removable hardtop is included and the Metropol Blue cabriolet top is said to be working properly.  The seller reccomends the replacement of the rear window for the soft top. This example rides on factory 18” Turbo Twist wheel featuring colored Porsche center crests and Continental Extreme Contact tires dated from 2014/2016.

Inside, the cabin is appointed with full Savannah Beige leather, draped leather seats, and exclusive extended leather upholstery covering the dashboard, door panels, center air vent bracket, speaker covers, and instrument surround.  Other factory features include 8-way electrically operated seats with driver’s seat memory, automatic climate control, and cruise control.  An aftermarket Sony Bluetooth radio has been installed and the seller reports that the steering wheel, shift knob, and handbrake leather have been re-dyed for cosmetic purposes.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4 L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Approximately 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels.  An RoW-spec suspension lowering kit was reportedly installed under previous ownership along with a ceramic IMS bearing upgrade, steel braided brake lines, a magnetic drain plug, and a spin-on oil filter.  The spark plugs are said to have been replaced during a recent service in December of 2020 along with an oil change.  Other recent maintenance items are reported to include the replacements of the engine mounts, water pump, and coolant tank.  Some service records are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.

This sale will include extra oil filters, a Porsche detailing kit, and a clean title.  This is a fantastic opportunity to get behind the wheel of a 6-speed Porsche 996, do not miss out.

@whatupgus I have the receipt, but don’t know how to upload it on to the auction. Just texted my auction manager to see how that’s done here.

In the mean time, feel free to send me a private message with your mobile number or email and I can text you the receipt.

I apologize if I missed it, but do you have the receipt for the IMS Bearing replacement
Beautiful car, love the color combo

@ponjeg I don’t have a record of it being completed, but my mechanic inspected for leaks and did not find any. I don’t believe it needs an AOS replacement, but if you want to preventatively change, I can usually get it done for nearly half the cost of what a Porsche indy shop would charge. It’s a fairly easy and inexpensive job on the 3.4 M96 engine.

    **IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ**

    Some quick notes:
1.Bid early and bid often. With online auctions, I see people lament that they wanted to bid more, but internet hiccups get in the way. If you want it, get it!
-Saving grace is the Deal Tank, but that won’t be an option if the car meets reserve.
PRO TIP: Have good internet and 2 sources to monitor activity (I.e. Computer and Smart Phone).

    2. This car is highly optioned with very desirable and rare options. My opinion is (as unbiased as I can give and as you can take), this will help the collectibility of a car model that is already set to be very collectible. As a note, in just the 2 years that I’ve focused on the 996 model, I’ve seen these cars increase 20-30% in value and see a lot more upside.

    3. This car has been very well serviced and has the all important ceramic bearing IMS upgrade done roughly 20k miles ago. Should be ready for many worry free miles ahead.

    4. Please feel free to ask questions or contact me either publicly through the comments or privately through the Contact Seller button.
PRO TIP: Drop me a note through Contact Seller button if there is even the slightest interest in the car. Doesn’t cost you anything and that function disappears at auction end; ya never know if having contact with me after auction close is valuable!

    5. Lastly, I have specialized in the 996 model and have owned a number of them. Although I am listed as a dealer, this is more of a hobby for me and act more as an enthusiast providing enthusiast level attention to a car model I love. (My day job is as a commercial insurance broker).

Enjoy the auction and looking forward to the action!

The correct Carfax report has been added to the listing gallery.

  • Integrity (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

    @901navigator Hello @901navigator
Thank you for that catch! That is not the correct Carfax report to this car, the VIN number does not match. I will contact PCarMarket immediately to address this... My sincere apologies.

If you’d like to contact me directly, I can send both a Carfax and AutoCheck for this car.

    Appreciate your comment!

  • 901navigator (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Vin does not match the carfax. So much for editing content.

  • 901navigator (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

What am I missing here??!! The carfax shows graduated mileage entries up to 142,000 miles ????
    This listing declares 78,000 miles!!

    Welcome to the auction all!

Here is a quick overview of the car and about me:
    The car:
This is an early production 996 with one year only throttle cable, amber headlights/tail lights, 4 spoke steering wheel, and a robust dual row IMS bearing. Previous owner of 10 years was an enthusiast that was mechanically inclined and “OCD” about maintenance. Very well cared for and garage kept for at least the past 10 years. Nicely options with leather everywhere. This example is in nice shape and feels very light and airy.

    About me:
I’m not a traditional “dealer” by any stretch, but instead a car enthusiast that likes to experience cool cars and likes the process of selling them also. My knowledge of this drivetrain is pretty deep as I have bought and sold a good number of 996 Pcars. My real job is a commercial insurance broker in CA, but enjoy cars and the process too much to give it up. With the amount of time I spend doing this, I lose money on this hobby, but that’s ok. I like to live by the golden rule, so you kind of get the best of both worlds.

Open to questions, I will do my best to answer them as best as I can.

    All the best!
