This first-generation 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over a Savana Beige full leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission as well as optional supple leather seats. The car has been upgraded with Porsche 997 Carrera S wheels along with a Brembo big brake kit. Said to have been fortified with an updated IMS bearing, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois while showing just over 56k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic, a particularly rare color offered between 1997 and 2000. It rides on a set of 18” Carrera S wheels from a Porsche 997 and features red-painted Brembo brake calipers as well as polished dual exhaust tips and a speed-activated rear spoiler. The seller adds that the exterior remains in good overall condition given the vehicle’s age and mileage, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The premium Savana Beige full leather interior includes a leather-covered dashboard and door panels along with optional supple leather front and rear seats. A black leather steering wheel cover has been added, wear is present on the seat surfaces, and some discoloration can be seen on the gear knob and handbrake lever. Equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, power seats and mirrors, an electric sunroof, a central locking system, and a sound system paired with a factory Porsche CR-210 radio and an optional 6-disc CD changer.

A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Stopping power comes from upgraded Brembo brakes with 6-piston calipers in front, 4-piston calipers in the rear, and floating cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The seller indicates that the IMS bearing has been replaced and some service records will accompany the sale.

The seller would like you to know: IMS is done! Low mile example! Updated OEM radio! 997.1 c2s wheels! Upgrade Brembo brakes! Ocean blue/Savana Beige rare color combo!

Congrats to @ryoung720! I'm happy this one is going to someone who will preserve it. They aren't making original 1999 Porsches anymore.

Too nice to modify. It just needs to be driven. I would leave it as is and pick up a set of original wheels since the tires are date coded 2014 and will need to be replaced soon.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

@calspeed. This one can be modified quite nicely. I have factory turbo hollows 408s on mine. My computer has been tuned. My throttle body has been bored, I have an ipd plenum, and a 997.1 Carrera S 3.8 airbox with a kn panel filter. I’m using fabspeed max flow mufflers with a fabspeed catless x pipes and headers that have been extruded and gasket matched. I have hr springs with koni shocks. To further reduced weight I took the spare out my front bumper is tech art and I have a carbon fiber ducktail , I have also removed the back seats. What you get is a car that handles like a go cart and accelerates to sixty as fast as a 997.1 Carrera S. I’m keeping this car, because I definitely would like to see what it wil do with a 3.8 liter engine. These early cars are a blast to drive

@kaveh5000 We just had the seat bolsters dyed by our interior shop. The interior is in very nice shape, the condition of this vehicle is consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle.

  • kaveh5000 (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

I can see the cracking in the seat upholstery - maybe a result of it's life in the Arizona heat. How are the other soft parts - dash, rubber, plastic trim, etc? Would you say they are drying or brittle overall or mostly serviceable as they are?

  • kaveh5000 (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

I appreciate @Calspeed's enthusiasm! I'm not a fan of most modifications and see this as a great early car to keep as an original example - maybe even going back to stock wheels and brakes! There's something for everyone to love with this car!

@Calspeed Thanks for the kind words!

What an amazing entry level 911. As a fan of modifications, I can envision amazing opportunities for this car on the west-coast scene.

Early 996.1s often came with the savanna beige interior including the steering wheel. This is a highly sought after, minimally optioned true example of an early 996.1 without the TC (traction control code 220). L3Z Ocean Blue metalic paint with SP Savanna Beige was a popular combo between 1997-2001 among the 996.1s. This is a very period correct 3.4L, cable throttle car with the original amber lenses. The only non-original parts on this 996.1 are the 997 wheels. Originally, this car possibly came with the 17 inch standard 996.1 wheels since the options sticker under the hood didn't state which kind of wheel. The standard 17" wheel are very easy to find, and they are not expensive at all due to their unpopularity today. As long as the engine and the transmission are original, I'd say this is an example of an excellent, true early 996.1 (6/98 build) that came out of the same assembly line as the end of the 993. Beautiful car and GLWTA!!

@SilverRose Great question! We actually just replaced the black steering wheel with a brand new oem one, so it’s all Savannah beige now.

@femurwallace We bought it from a dealer that took it on trade they are based out of Arizona. We are a dealership located in Naperville IL. There is a sticker on the door jam with a serial number on it stating IMS has been done. You are welcome to call the company and verify. If this car is not for you we understand thanks!

  • femurwallace (registered bidder) 10 months, 1 weekago

What evidence do you have for an IMS replacement or update if you don't have any records other than Carfax? LN Engineering has a record for a 2001 996 with the same last six VIN digits, but this is a 1999 model. Plus the Carfax has this Porsche in Florida when the LN IMS was installed in Massachusetts. Also, the Carfax notes this Porsche was last registered in Arizona, but it's for sale now in Illinois? Please don't get me wrong, I'm just seeing clarification before I consider bidding. Thanks for your patience.

    Hello,
