Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet finished in Guards Red.  Equipped with an optional Tiptronic S 5-speed transmission sending power to all four wheels, this first-generation 996 Carrera 4 also features 18” Turbo-Look wheels and a Savanna Beige full leather interior with supple leather seats front and rear.  This Cabriolet was acquired by the current owner in 2020 and is now being offered for auction out of Florida showing just over 44k miles on the odometer.

This 996 comes finished in Guards Red (L84A) with a black cabriolet top and removable painted hardtop.  Compared to a standard Carrera, the all-wheel-drive model receives special titanium-colored brake calipers along with a matching rear model designation.  This example features optional 18” Turbo-Look wheels fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps and a set of Yokohama tires.  The car has remained in Florida throughout its entire life and the seller describes the finish to be in very good condition overall, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Savanna Beige interior is appointed with optional supple leather seats and full leather upholstery extending to the dashboard and door panels.  The optional three-spoke steering wheel features shift buttons for the Tiptronic transmission. Both seats are electrically adjustable 8-ways, while the driver’s seat offers memory settings as well as 4-way adjustable lumbar support.  The seller reports minimal signs of wear and confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the original Porsche CDR-220 radio.  The factory specifications label on the underside of the hood lists the following equipment codes:

  • 236 – Internal Production Code Relating to Tires
  • 249 – Tiptronic Transmission, 5-Speed
  • 413 – 18” Turbo-Look Wheels
  • 424 – CD Compartment
  • 432 – Tiptronic Buttons for Steering Wheel
  • 436 – 3-Spoke Steering Wheel
  • 437 – 8-Way Electrical Seat, Left
  • 438 – 8-Way Electrical Seat, Right
  • 446 – Wheel Caps with Colored Porsche Crest
  • 490 – Basic Sound System
  • 537 – Seat Memory, Left
  • 551 – Wind Deflector
  • 580 – Non-Smoker Package
  • 586 – 4-Way Adjustable Lumbar Support, Left Seat
  • 659 – Onboard Computer
  • 696 – CD-Radio Becker Porsche CDR-220
  • 939 – Supple Leather Rear Seats
  • 981 – Leather Dashboard and Door Panels
  • 982 – Supple Leather Front Seats

The naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine develops up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque, driving all four wheels by way of an optional 5-speed Tiptronic S 5-speed transmission which allows for both automatic and manual gear changes.  The Carrera 4 comes with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and fixed four-piston monobloc brake calipers as standard equipment. Routine maintenance has been carried out by German Elite Auto of New Port Richey in Florida, and the seller has provided an invoice from March of 2021 showing replacement of the front hood latch as well as the fuel pump and fuel filter. There is no record of an IMS bearing replacement.

This sale will include the original hardtop, toolkit, jack, spare tire, and a clean title.  Do not miss your chance to become the next owner of this sparingly driven and well-preserved 996 Carrera 4.

@Panda Hi, thank you for your interest. It is in great condition. I see what your saying. In the one photo it is not down all the way. This was just an oversight on my part.

Is the convertible in good working order? In the video the clamshell in the back is still open like it stopped in the cycle of opening?

So sorry for your loss, please accept my condolences. I have a quick question, CarFax says third owner purchased in 2018, your description says you acquired it in 2020. Why the gap? I’m in Palm Harbor, FL. Is the car available for viewing?

  • lekrz (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I have virtually the same car with similar miles and would like to point out to viewers of this car that the 99 model year used a double row IMS bearing and is said through Porsche to be problem free, espically after reaching the mileage indicated. I wish you well with your sale. L.E.

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole and I'm selling my late husband's Porsche. My husband unexpectedly passed away from covid pneumonia late last year. He loved this car and took excellent care of it! It was his baby! I hate to sell it but I have no choice. I'm hoping to find the right buyer for this beautiful car. Thanks!
