Representing Porsche’s original water-cooled mid-engine sports car, this 1999 Boxster is finished in the rarely seen color of Ocean Jade Metallic over a Black interior. It comes equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox paired to its flat-six engine along with optional 18” Turbo-look wheels and the Sport Touring Package which includes several Exclusive trim pieces and premium features. Recently serviced and with less than 10k miles showing on the odometer, this collectible first-generation Boxster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 986 is finished in Ocean Jade Metallic, an exceptionally rare color offered on the Boxster and 911 models between 1998 and 2000. It comes equipped with optional 18” Turbo-look wheels and the Sport Touring Package which adds chrome roll bars behind the headrests. Other equipment includes a black convertible top, a speed-activated rear spoiler, side air intakes, a center-mounted tailpipe, power-heated side mirrors, front fog lights, Porsche-branded brake calipers, and optional wheel center caps with colored Porsche crests. The seller indicates new tires have been installed and the exterior remains in excellent overall condition apart from some minor touched-up stone chips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this Boxster features a Balck standard leather interior with the optional Sport Touring Package adding stainless-steel door sills, aluminum instrument dials, and aluminum trim to the shifter and handbrake levers. Other accessories include optional supple leather seats, black floor mats with Porsche lettering, a CD shelf center console, HiFi Sound Package, a remote alarm system, a Porsche wind-stop, an onboard computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, a remote 6-disc CD changer, and a Porsche CR-220 stereo.

A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped as standard with power steering, front and rear anti-roll bars, and fixed 4-piston disc brakes at each corner. The seller indicates a service and oil change were recently completed and all other available maintenance history is provided on the CVARFAX report.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, and a clean title.

@autostreetusa between the license plate holder and the tow eye cover (slightly higher that the top of the license plate holder)

@turbodxb where on the bumper? I am having trouble seeing what you are seeing... thanks... I will upload some photos of the bumper

  • TurboDXB (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

It's the bumper, not the hood. Check out pic 28 and 46. Maybe a better photo can clear this concern? Thank you.

  • autostreetusa (seller) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

@turbodxb what I think you are seeing in the first picture are simply reflections of clouds that make it look like the hood is dented... No dents there :)

@turbodxb I don’t see a dent in the photo but if there are any minor dings then surely PDR will be able ton take care of it… I’ll get paint meter reading loaded this morning… :). Good luck to you

  • TurboDXB (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

@seller can you confirm that is a dent on the front bumper in pic 1? Can that be removed with paint-less dent removal? The auction ends today, can you please add paint meter readings? Thanks!

To CP VT: I own a 2000 Boxster and am 6'2.5" and I can tell you I fit but its marginal. The seat doesn't go back nearly as far as in a 996. That said - they're great , well balanced cars/

@ruf3600 thank you for your comment... the original plastic window did not fair well... the previous owner, as stated, bought this car thinking it would be a long term investment so he changed out the top with the glass window option to avoid the same issue... the passenger side needs a slight adjustment, I will handle that... thanks :)... as a side note, I have owned and sold several of these early boxsters and have seen that same needed adjustment on original tops... simple fix :)

  • ruf3600 (registered bidder) 4 weeks, 1 dayago

Do you know why the top was replaced on a 10k mile car.
Also, you might want to look into the installation as the top is not fitting correctly. Most noticeably on the passenger side where it is riding up over the window frame structure and will eventually damage the replacement top. You can compare to the drivers side pictures to see how it is supposed to fit in the frame channel around the window when the top is raised

  • autostreetusa (seller) 1 monthago

@cp_vt I do not know how they compare... I will see if I can google any info for you :)

  • CP_VT (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@autostreetusa thank you. I should've elaborated on why I was asking. I'm 6'3". I currently have a 1999 996, and I fit in that fine. I don't know if these Boxsters are any smaller or have any less legroom. Just wanted to make sure I would fit. Do you know how this compares to the space in a 996?

  • autostreetusa (seller) 1 monthago

    @cp_vt that was me, I’m 6’2”

@audios22 Thanks!... I was very excited when this one came in. Had the original tires on it though... was scared to even drive to the service center with them on... but I made it LOL... it drives amazing and these cars are a crazy bargain... Also, to anyone who may ask about the IMS Bearing.... the 97 - 99 Boxster didn't have the issue that the early 2000's had... so bid with the utmost confidence :)

Good luck everyone and I am here to answer any questions!

  • audios22 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

WOW what an amazing example of a very early 986. First time I've seen this color. With milage shown, definitely a collectors' car. But should also be driven. That's what Porsches are made for. Not to be a trailer queen. GLWTA>
