Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 986 Boxster finished in Guards Red over a black interior with leather Sport Seats. This first-generation Boxster features a desirable 5-speed manual transmission, Exclusive polished stainless steel exhaust tips, 18″ SportDesign wheels, a Rigidly Tuned Sports Chassis (030), and the Sport Design Package. With a major service and IMS bearing upgrade carried out just before the seller’s purchase in October of 2019, this well-equipped 986 is now being offered for auction out of Georgia with just over 17k miles showing on the odometer.
This Boxster is finished in Guards Red with a black convertible top. The front bumper has been previously refinished and some minor curb rash is noted on one of the wheels. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. From the factory, this 986 features a rear model designation delete, Exclusive polished stainless steel exhaust tips, and 18” SportDesign wheels. The seller reports the Bridgestone Potenza tires to have been installed in 2020 within the last 2k miles.
Inside, you will find a black interior with leather power-reclining Sport Seats and a three-spoke steering wheel included as part of the Sport Design Package (P69). Other factory features include a remote control alarm system, the Hi-Fi Sound Package w/ speakers, cruise control, a CD shelf center console, and an AM/FM radio with CD player. A new OEM Porsche radio has been recently installed and the seller has added a set of genuine Porsche all-season rubber floormats. The spoiler-up indicator light is said to come on intermittently, although there are no issues reported to the actual operation of the spoiler.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.5L flat-six engine that is capable of producing 201 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transmission which allows this Boxster to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in approximately 6.7 seconds. The Boxster model is celebrated for its mid-engine agility, and this particular example is further enhanced by the factory optional Rigidly Tuned Sport Chassis (030) which provides a 10mm lowered ride height. In September of 2019, $5,400 worth of service was carried out including the installation of an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing, a new dual-mass flywheel, and a new Sachs clutch. The battery was replaced within the last two years and the seller reports routine oil changes to have been carried out during their ownership.

This looks like a really clean Boxster. Great miles, best color, nice options, maintenance done, newer tires, what else could you ask for??
These 1st gen Boxsters are a blast to drive and like to play with spec Miatas, 3 series BMWs, etc. GLWA

As to the wheel wells, I have no knowledge of any undercoating being applied.
The streaks that show on the headrests are probably from the leather conditioner that I had used on the seats as I cleaned the car the day before I took the photos. They are not permanent.

I would like to bid on your car, but i have a previously unanswered question, and I also would like to know if you sprayed black undercoating in the wheel wells. There appears to be some black paint around the wheel arches.
cibone: Can you tell me what the odd looking streaks are on the driver and passenger seat headrest area. Is the leather discolored? It just looks very uneven.

I'm Chris Bone, the owner of the '99 Boxster. The purchaser of this car will not be disappointed. I have very much enjoyed my ownership of the Boxster over the past year and a half. This has been my third car for those nice sunny day drives. Since I recently purchased a new BMW Z4 as my daily driver, unfortunately the Boxster has become somewhat redundant.
