With its timeless styling, luxurious appointments, and naturally aspirated S62 V8 engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the E39-generation BMW M5 is regarded among the greatest sport sedans of all time. This 2000 example is finished in Black over a two-tone Black/Silverstone Nappa Point leather interior and was acquired by the seller, its second owner, in March 2023. It features an upgraded Bilstein PSS9 coilover suspension and a Z3 short shifter as well as European-spec LCI headlights. This M5 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing just over 23k miles on the odometer.
The M5 can be distinguished from a standard E39 5-Series by its black Shadowline trim, unique bumpers, side skirts, aerodynamic mirrors, trunk lid spoiler, and quad-tipped exhaust outlets. This example is finished in Black and features European-spec LCI headlights, a headlamp washer system, integrated front fog lights, a power-operated sunroof, and factory 18” Style 65 wheels. The original headlights are said to accompany the sale. The seller notes the wheels have been dressed in new Atlas Force tires and the car was professionally detailed at AMMO NYC. The cabin is appointed with Black and Silverstone Nappa Point leather upholstery complemented by brushed aluminum trim and an Alcantara headliner. Accessories include heated power-adjustable M Sport Seats with driver memory settings, a three-spoke M Sport multifunction steering wheel, an M Sport shift knob, M5-branded door sills and floor mats, an M-branded footrest pedal, and M5-specific gauges with engine warmup lights. The driver is also provided with power windows and mirrors, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, cruise control, a navigation system, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and a 6-disc CD changer. A Z3-derived short shifter has been installed and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine featuring double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system. Up to 400 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and the original suspension is said to accompany the sale. A service completed in January 2023 included new coolant, brake fluid, transmission, differential, and power steering fluid as well as a new fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump tank seal, and an oil and filter change.
This sale will include the original headlights and suspension, some documentation, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, an air pump, a car cover, and a clean title (lien).

What a gem! Next owner should add the sleeker LCI steering wheel, and maybe LCI or LED taillights too. But beautiful either way. Man, it's getting tougher these days to find E39 M5s with this kind of low mileage and care, at least at a reasonable price. Best wishes for a good sale!
