2000 BMW E39 M5 6-Speed

Up for auction is this 2000 BMW E39 M5 finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over a black Extended Nappa Heritage leather interior. Representing the 3rd generation of the legendary BMW M5, the E39 is commonly regarded as one of the greatest European sports sedans of all time. The first M5 car to offer a V8, the E39 was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in March of 1998 equipped with the venerable 4.9L S62 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It was also the first M5 to use aluminum front suspension components and four-link rear suspension, contributing towards a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Accompanied by service records showing over $15k worth of maintenance over the years, this 6-speed E39 M5 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 83k miles on the odometer.

The exterior of this M5 is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354) with Shadowline window trim and black side moldings. The M5 can be distinguished from a standard E39 by its revised front and rear bumpers, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler, aerodynamic mirrors, and quad exhaust outlets. Other exterior features include xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and M5 badging on the trunk lid and side moldings. The CARFAX report shows the vehicle to have been involved in an accident in 2015 resulting in damage to the left front end. The seller describes some road-going wear to the front bumper and hood as well as some minor paint chips on the doors, a crack in the rear bumper at the lower driver’s side, a dent on the trunk lid, and some minor rust under the trunk latch. This M5 rides on original staggered-width 18” Style 65 wheels, which are mounted in Continental ExtremeContact tires showing date codes from 2018 in the front and 2019 in the rear.

The cabin of this E39 M5 is upholstered in black Nappa Heritage Extended leather including a leather-wrapped dashboard, glove box, center console, and matching door panels with leather map pockets. Wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, shift knob, and door panels. The heated front seats are deeply bolstered and feature power-adjustability with memory settings.  The headliner is upholstered in black Alcantara suede and the carpets are accented by M5-branded floor mats and door sills.  Driver’s amenities include a cassette stereo connected to a trunk-mounted 6-CD changer, navigation system, a sliding power-operated glass sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and a power-adjustable steering column. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel features tri-color M stitching and sits ahead of an M-specific instrument cluster with a 185-MPH speedometer, a variable-redline 8k-RPM tachometer, and additional gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level.  The seller reports that the radio shuts off on its own after about one minute of use and that the navigation screen flashes intermittently.

The E39 M5 is powered by a 4.9L S62 V8 engine that features double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system. The S62 produced up to 394 HP and 369 lb.-ft of torque when new, and allowed the M5 to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in as little as 4.8 seconds with an electronically governed top speed of 155 MPH. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Getrag 420G six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Compared to the standard 5-Series, the M5 also received unique spring rates, a lowered ride height, model-specific shock valving, thicker sway bars, Servotronic power steering, an upgraded clutch, heavy-duty rubber bushings, and upgraded front wheel bearings. This M5 is said to be accompanied by extensive records including over $15k worth of service receipts.

This sale will include a collection of service records, the original owner's manuals, a toolkit, and a clean title. Offering an ideal combination of power, performance, and luxury, this E39 M5 presents an excellent opportunity to own a future BMW classic.

@Motorsport1821 I wasn't sure best way to explain the area, seemed spare wheel well was easiest way to describe it but thank you very much for uploading the pictures!

  • 240d.auto (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Would this car considered to be salvage or does it still have a clean tile ?

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 1 monthago

@jamal08 Yes everything looks to be factory. The Fender and the Headlight. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

  • Motorsport1821 (seller) 1 monthago

@jamal08 Good Afternoon, This car does not have a spare wheel. But we just uploaded pictures of underneath where technically the spare wheel well would be and of the inside of the trunk. That area has a factory air compressor (Brand New, and never used). That wheel well area is finished in plastic, so no rust there at all. I will try to upload more pictures of the undercarriage.
