The second generation of the Dodge Viper RT/10 “SR II” was introduced in 1996 and brought with it several updates over the original model including aluminum suspension, increased horsepower, and a removable hardtop roof. This 2000 example comes finished in Steel Gray Pearlcoat over a Black leather interior and was acquired by its seller owner about a year and a half ago from its long-term previous owner. It features an 8.0L V10 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, an aftermarket color-matched hardtop roof, 18” wheels, and more. This Viper is now being offered for auction out of California while showing just under 49k miles on its odometer.

The second-generation Viper closely resembles the original version, with the most significant change being the exhaust position moved from the sides to the rear of the car. This RT/10 comes finished in Steel Gray Pearlcoat with a retractable black convertible roof and matching aftermarket three-piece removable hardtop. The finish is said to remain in good overall condition aside from a crack on the driver’s door edge and the front of the hood. The CARFAX shows the vehicle was deemed a total loss in 2012 after sustaining a collision, and the seller states that the previous owner performed all subsequent repairs. It rides on a set of upgraded 18” wheels which come dressed in Continental tires bearing date codes from 2021.

Inside, you will find a Black leather interior featuring an Alpine radio head unit, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, tinted windshield glass, a leather-wrapped steering column, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage mounted above the center stack. The seller indicates some signs of wear commensurate with age and normal use.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 8.0L V10 engine which produced up to 415 HP and 488 lb.-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a Tremec T56 6-speed manual gearbox. The CARFAX report includes 11 service history entries dating back as far as 2001, and recent service is said to include a new front crank pulley and ARP crank bolt, a new drive belt and tires, and a transmission fluid flush. The seller notes there is currently a drain in the electrical system that depletes the battery in about four days when left untendered.

This sale will include a clean California title.

The seller would like you to know:  "This was my first dream car growing up in the 90s, I wanted to experience it before having my first child which is coming up in a few months. It's a great driver's car that you don't have to worry about keeping perfect."

The car drives great, straight and steady steering wheel at 90+. The fact that he put about 18k miles after the accident made me believe it was fixed correctly.

  • kensyzo (seller) 9 months, 4 weeksago

@Dirtyrazkal the owner said he spun out in the rain and smashed the left rear in 2012. Insurance paid for it but he states it wasn’t totaled. The CA title shows it’s clean so I believe him. I can’t tell where any repairs were done.

In addition to the questions below re: the total loss accident, what is the current title status? Each state differs as to what they will allow/exclude for salvage, reconstructed, or branded titles. Do you know the nature or circumstances of the accident? Thanks.

  • Dirtyrazkal (registered bidder) 9 months, 4 weeksago

Any more info re: the total loss accident and repairs? How bad was the frame damage? And how good was the repair job? Looks good in pics, but is everything fully back to original? No wonkiness, driving issues, etc.?
