Mercedes-Benz launched the new G500 version of its W463 G-Class for the European market in 1998. It was Europa International Inc., a registered American importer based in New Mexico, who used its “small-volume manufacturer” status to become the exclusive importer and distributor of the G500 in the United States. This 2000 Mercedes-Benz G500 is one of such examples imported by Europa and comes finished in silver over a black leather interior. It features a 5.0-liter V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and triple-locking differentials. Showing approximately 112k miles on the odometer, this collectible G500 Europa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee.

This W463 comes finished in silver with a contrasting black vinyl-covered roof, a chrome front brush guard, and a split chrome rear bumper. Other equipment includes protective grilles on the marker lights and tail lamps, side running boards, aftermarket headlights, and a black rear-mounted spare wheel cover with a chrome surround. The truck rides on later-model 18” twin-spoke alloy wheels dressed in Yokohama Geolander H/T tires (2016). The seller indicates some stone chips are present as well as scuffs on the driver-side front fender flare, paint bubbles near the base of the windshield, and some corrosion on the front brush guard. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with black leather upholstery complemented by burl wood trim on the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, center console, and gear selector. Accessories include power heated front seat, power windows, an electric sunroof, a central locking system, air conditioning, cruise control, and an aftermarket Continental Bluetooth stereo. The seller notes AMG logos remain visible on the headrests from the residue of previously removed stickers.

This G500 carries a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 300 HP and 324 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by a 5-speed automatic transmission with a dual-range transfer case and three locking differentials. The seller indicates a collection of service records will be provided to the next owner.

This sale will include a clean title.

@mikelaca depending on how far you are wanting to go it would likely be around 2k-4k to touch up the paintwork.

My painter is backlogged with some of my other projects so I just never got around to having it done.

Out of curiosity, have you done any kind of research or gotten any estimates on what it would take to remove the aftermarket roof and put that back to factory? And also the same question for the occasional rust spots?

Original radio with code will be included in the sale. The dash and harness has not been cut or modified, you could simply plug it back in if you desire.

@mikelaca The truck has Heat, air and working heated seats. These models are a little different as the center vents are the AC and putter vents are heat. They came standard with heat and air was optional. You will notice on some models the center vents are missing those do not have AC.

I have the microphone for Bluetooth calls that just plugs in the back of the radio. However it’s not installed. The head unit is a Continental radio designed to blend in with this period Mercedes and glows the same yellow-ish orange as the instrument cluster.

I know it may be a strange question, but does the car have a heater? I ask because what looks like the HVAC controls only shows blue on the turning knob. Usually it's a mix of red and blue. Maybe I just don't understand how things worked back in 2000 in Europe so if you could help me on that, it would be appreciated.
Additionally, I see the headunit has bluetooth. Has it been installed with a wired microphone to handle Bluetooth calls?

@JoeLA thank you for the information. Unfortunately I’m traveling right now. But I will try to get a video of it tomorrow.

    Best regards,

That video of the diff locks does nt seem to show them actually engaging. Here is a video of a G-Wagen differential lock test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVcvgAhEVr8
