Now available for auction is this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet finished in Black over a black interior. This all-wheel-drive Carrera features a desirable 6-speed manual gearbox as well as 18” Turbo-look wheels, factory supple leather seats, and Exclusive Porsche crested headrests.  Having undergone an IMS bearing upgrade as part of a major service under the current ownership in 2016, this 996 is now being listed for auction by its seller out of North Dakota while showing just over 70k miles on the odometer.

This 996 is finished in Black with a matching black convertible soft top. Clear 3M paint protection film has been applied over the front end and the seller notes a few scratches and minor door dings throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The convertible top rear window is said to be in need of replacement, and a new zip-out rear window will be included in the sale along with a factory color-matched removable hardtop.  This Carrera rides on upgraded 18” Turbo-look wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.  The rear tires are reported to have been replaced within the last two years and the fronts are said to retain approximately 80% tread.

Inside, this 996 is appointed with a black interior highlighting optional supple leather front and rear seats.  Additional factory features include 8-way power-operated heated seats, Exclusive Porsche crested headrests, driver seat memory, driver seat lumbar support, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation.  Modifications include carbon fiber armrest, door handle and handbrake trim, an EVOMS short-throw shifter, stainless steel pedal covers, and a custom-painted center console.  Some creasing can be seen on the driver's seat and the LCD temperature control screen is noted to be slightly faded.

A naturally aspirated 3.4 L M96 flat-six engine sends up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. An LN Engineering IMS bearing upgrade was performed in 2016 by Imola Motorsports Inc. of Minnesota.  During this time, nearly $7k worth of service was carried out including the installation of a new clutch kit, crankshaft seal, drive belt, spark plugs, coolant flange gasket, valve cover gaskets, rear shock absorbers, and a four-wheel alignment.  Corresponding invoices are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include some service invoices, orignal owner's manuals, a color-matched removable hardtop, and a clean title. With its tasteful options, desirable 6-speed gearbox, and critical IMS bearing upgrade, this Carrera 4 presents an excellent value for any Porsche enthusiast.

Thanks for the info. If I get it we can just install the hardtop and I drive it like that. Yes I can fly IAH to DFW, then there. I bought a 3/98 coupe in January and drove it home 1300 miles from Wisconsin great way to know the car.

@luis.seneriz American Airlines flies direct into Fargo form DFW and this would be a great Drive back and a great way to get to know the car!

@aaroneous I’ve just uploaded pics of the top which is in excellent condition and a pic of the new zip in window. I would have had this buttoned up, but there is no upholstry shop with specific experience in Porsches in Fargo. In Pasadena and Seattle, they do these for $600-$800. Or you might be able to get some help getting the new zip in window to work. This is a solid fully serviced 911 that you can fly in and drive home. As in the pics, the hardtop stand will be folded up as well as the windscreen. As far as me being a dealer, I sell 3-4 cars a year as a collector and enthusiast and for my own enjoyment.

Any concerns taking the car on a long road trip cross country? Will it make it to Texas ? Thanks

@Mb912e, sorry for the duplicate question about the title, it wasn't there when I asked it and then it showed up when the page refreshed! Dealer sale, got it. Thanks.

Two questions: (1) How bad is the convertible top's rear window, and do you have pictures of it, and (2) "Dealer (personal car)" doesn't really explain the transaction -- whose name is on the title? It makes a big difference in taxes in some states (including mine) whether it's a dealer or a private party. Thanks!

@Delmenhorst yes it will go thru as a dealer sale ! I bought it 6 years ago found the hard Top, had the Porsche dealership do the 4 brakes and the front CV boots and all the service work. Oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter and the other things in the receipts in the pic section. Put the new rear Pilot Sport Michelin’s on. The soft top is in great shape, but the plastic window split so I bought one of those new zip in windows but haven’t been able to get it in. Every other thing mechanically is up to specs. It runs and drives like new with the mentioned new bilstien tires and brakes. The top hardware Allen tool bag and trim caps all there. A/C heated seats temp control and Nav all work as well as the cruise, 4 power windows. Thx Mark

Am I correct in assuming this sale will be a Dealer sales transaction even though it is your personal vehicle. Besides the soft top what else does the car need? Delmenhorst
