We are pleased to present this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Millennium Edition finished in exotic Violet Chromaflair over a luxurious natural brown leather interior.  This Carrera 4 stands as one of only 225 Millennium Editions delivered to North America (911 Worldwide), making it a truly collectible modern-day Porsche.  Having undergone some noteworthy recent service items, this highly collectible 996 is now being offered for auction with approximately 30k miles shown on the odometer.

As standard, this Millennium Edition Carrera is finished Violet Chromaflair, a very desirable color which according to the original Porsche brochure “…changes from black to dark green to an elegant shade of violet.”  The seller states that a paint correction has been carried out under his ownership and notes that the front bumper was professionally refinished at one point to correct some road-going wear.  This special edition rides on silver powder-coated 18” Turbo Twist wheels which are wrapped in a fresh set Hankook Ventus V12 evo tires.  The seller confirms that the original set of factory PVD chrome wheels will be included in the sale and are noted to be in fair condition and are assumed to be true.

Inside, the driver is situated in a specially crafted natural brown leather interior with exquisite burr-maple trim cladding the steering wheel, handbrake cover, shift knob, and door pulls.  Commanding an original sticker price of over $89k, this 996 comes equipped with the following exclusive options:

  • Power-Operated Heated Seats
  • Electric Sliding/Tilt Sunroof
  • Aluminum Instrument Dials
  • Driver’s Seat Lumbar support
  • Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipes
  • Rear Center Console in Leather
  • Steering Column Covered in Leather
  • Instrument Housing Upper Panel in Leather
  • Digital Sound Package
  • Automatic Climate Control
  • Power Heated Side Mirrors
  • Headlight Washers
  • Rear Window Wiper
  • Litronic Headlights
  • Porsche Communication Module (PCM)
  • Onboard Computer
  • 6-disc Remote CD Changer

The seller notes the interior to be in great shape although the passenger side door trim exhibits some cracks and shows signs of repair.  It has also been noted that the PCM screen appears to be slightly distorted, however, all gauges, electrical components and accessories remain fully functional.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine rated at 296 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque.  All four wheels are driven by way of a desirable six-speed manual transmission making for a 0-60 time of approximately 5.2 seconds.  Factory performance features include 4-piston calipers with vented disc brakes and Porsche Stability Management (PSM).  During the seller’s one year of ownership, approximately 1k miles have been added to the car and the following service items have been carried out:

  • Oil Service w/ Magnetic Drain Plug
  • Replace Serpentine Drive Belt
  • New Front and Rear Hood Shocks
  • Replace Cabin/Air/Oil Filters
  • New Battery
  • Replace Reservoir Coolant Tank and Cap

The IMS and RMS have not been replaced to the best of the seller’s knowledge.  The seller, who is a knowledgeable Porsche technician believes this to carry the dual row bearing exempting it from the known failures in later production models.  This 996 said to remain in excellent driving condition just waiting to be enjoyed by a new owner.

The sale of this Carrera 4 will include one key, owner’s manuals, radio and PCM code cards, the original tool kit with air pump and a clear title.  The Millennium Edition comes standard with many features unique to itself, unseen on any other model; do not miss this rare opportunity to own one of the most sought-after 996’s on the road.

I saw this car at DRT in Miami two weeks ago and it is a stunner - it drew a lot of attention even among hundreds of other amazing PCars. The exterior color is just amazing to see in person and how it looks so different depending on the lighting. You would neve get bored looking at it! The interior is pristine (expcept for the noted passenger door trim cracking) - amazing for a 20 year old car. And the exterior is superbly clean with just one scratch near the rear glass where it looks like the wiper went long once. To me it's the kind of blemish that some approrpiate polishing compund would largely eliminate. And the wheels look fantastic not in chrome. The owner is a meticulous fellow and the car shows it. Bid with confidence on this one. GLWTA.

@ddoerr44 I tried to get the video today but my photographer/co-driver couldn't make it. However, I should be able to get a video tomorrow morning and then send to Pcar to upload.

@ddoerr44 I will try and get the video later today. I am not much of a techie but can probably figure it out. The car is ready for a long trip. The miles I put on were several trips from Miami to Naples, about 130 each way.

  • ddoerr44 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

Can you please provide a video of the car being driven? Is it ready to be driven a long distance?

  • teescott (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

I agree with the seller that there is ambiguity about which cars do or don't have the dual row bearing. So that is the very reason i asked why he put in the description that he "believes" it has the dual row bearing. It's probably not a good idea to say you believe it has the bearing, if you also believe there is ambiguity surrounding the entire issue. So while I do appreciate the seller explaining why he put that comment in the description, his explanation does not shed any more light on which bearing it has. I hope this makes sense to you , and you should now understand why I asked the question in the first place. I also want you to know that I am asking questions out of a genuine interest in your car

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@teescott You requested the engine number so I provided it. We all know the IMS "issue" is sometimes blown out of proportion. If a buyer wants the confidence of knowing it has been done, it can be done. Why do I think it is s none issue for this car? After speaking to a factory tech, he said the earlier ( through mid 2000) M96 motors had a dual row bearing. This is all hearsay so focus on the rest of the car.

  • teescott (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

i'm not really sure how to evaluate the engine number relative to single or dual row ims bearings. Some internet posting say that dual row bearings were used up to engine number 661114164. In the description, the seller says he believes it to have a 2 row bearing. Can the seller please comment on what lead him to that conclusion?

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

    @teescott Looks like M96/0466Y85393

  • teescott (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

    Seller:
Is it possible for you to post the engine number? that might help with questions about the dual row or single row ims bearing.

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@bc146 looks brand new and clean. I do not drive in the rain if possible.

  • bc146 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@pursuit96 Thanks for posting the additional pictures. Really appreciated. Can you comment on the condition of the undercarriage?

@craig66 it’s true for about half of the 2000 models.

Just some info, I had one of these and did the IMS, when we dropped the transmission and removed the original It turned out to be a dual row So I was in there and made the commitment so follow through with the whole thing and spent the money but in essence it was kind of a waste. Mine was produced later than this car so if I had to make a very educated guess I would say this car definitely has the dual row based on production number.

  • craig66 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@pursuit96 This is true. Early 99’s did not have the same IMS issues but this is a 2000. Does not mean that this is not an amazing car just means that bidders need to know the IMS has not been addressed. The writer stated that the owner does not feel this 2000 is susceptible and I am just not sure that is true for a 2000

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@craig66 From what I have been told, the 1999 and early 200 had a dual row ball bearing IMS and newer cars went to a single row. I saw a 99 boxster at the Porsche DRT last week with 240K miles and the original IMS....

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@bc146 NO but probably could get some undercarriage if I jacked it up..

  • craig66 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

Excuse my ignorance but I was under the belief that all cars between 1999 and 2005 had the same IMS issues. I thought that 2005/2006 was the cross over year with some early 2006's still having IMS issues.

    Is this not correct?

    Thanks

  • bc146 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

@pursuit96 Beautiful car. Would you have any undercarriage pics and/or cold start/driving videos?

  • pursuit96 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

I want a car to drive more often and don't want a garage queen. Beautiful but not a daily driver for me.

  • craig66 (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

Beautiful car. Could I ask reason for selling after just one year of ownership and only 1K miles driven.

    Thanks
