Up for auction is this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Guards Red over a custom black interior. Highlighting an IMS bearing replacement along with a 6-speed manual transmission, this 996 has been modified with performance and design upgrades such as Recaro seats, Fabtech headers, Eibach lowering springs, sport cats and more.  With only 74.5k-miles on the odometer, this 996 Cabriolet is now being offered by its seller out of Fair Oaks, CA.

The Guards Red finish is said to be in great condition.  Exterior details include aftermarket taillights, front tow hitch, a factory black cabriolet top and quad exhaust tips.  Eibach lowering springs are tucked behind black painted replica BBS wheels that wear Riken tires.

Inside, the factory black interior has been redesigned with an assortment of modifications.  These include Recaro seats, Polk speakers, Alpine amps, JL subwoofers, a suede shift boot with metal shift knob, suede storage lid with red stitching, red stitching on the emergency brake, red stitched steering wheel, and red painted ash tray and ignition molding.  The seller notes that all functions and accessories are in working order.

Power comes from a 3.4L naturally aspirated flat-six engine that is capable of producing 296 HP from the factory.  This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.  Performance upgrades include Fabtech headers, sport cats and mufflers, larger throttle body, and a K&N air filter. The stock throttle body and air filter are currently installed to pass California smog restrictions.  Said to have been dealer serviced throughout most of its life, this example benefits from an IMS bearing replacement at 70k-miles.  It is currently up-to-date on service with an oil service conducted in June of 2020.

Included in the sale of this uniquely configured 996 Cabriolet are two keys and service records.

    I can't wait.
I sent you an email with my #.
I am going to go with option 3 on the No Smog and Credit.
I will be shipping the car to Kansas City.

Good price IMHO, for both seller and buyer. Customized cars often take hit on resale because they reflect the owner’s personal taste. Have fun!?

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

Congratulations! This is a nice car and look forward to being in touch.

Mihir at that price you can have it. It’s a cabrio not a coupe. I already have a 3/98 996.1 coupe 6 spd.

  • MihirT (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

I saw this car on craigslist a while back. Never been a big cab fan, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.

If you put the iPd plenum, and the tune do they light up the CEL? The KN intake is not good hot air. Let me know.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Texas it’s just the normal Obd. My car has Fab speed headers and exhaust kn panel filter, and it passed with flying colors.

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@luis.seneriz Yes, stock plenum, throttle body, and airbox included. I can have those installed with a stock tune. I’m not sure what the TX rules are for that exhaust set up though...

Top is in nice shape. Pics #18,19 and 30 show the condition of the top and rear window. No leaks either.

    **IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ**

Hey all, just want to give some important details since I posted this car. Please read if you’re at all interested in this car.

MAJOR TUNE UP (less than 50 miles ago):
    Water Pump
    Thermostat
    Coolant Flush
    Air Filter
    Spark Plugs and Tubes.
(Hope to have the receipt uploaded tomorrow).

ADDITIONAL PICS ADDED: Receipts, current DME Reading, the two main imperfections on the car,

UPGRADES / SMOG: So this car is modified and will give the winning bidder an option of what they’d like to do.
    1. I leave all the stock parts (currently installed), put the factory tune on it, and will provide a current CA smog on the car. Aftermarket IPD, GT3 Throttle Body, and K&N Intake on the side.
    2. I install all the aftermarket IPD, GT3 Throttle Body, K&N Intake, and an ECU tune. Stock parts on the side. You smog.
    3. I give the car as-is, no smog, with both stock parts available and aftermarket parts, and $750 off the winning bid. This option is for those that are mechanically inclined, have a shop relationship, and/or a particular way they’d like the car tuned.

    Hope this information is helpful!

Is the top in great shape?? How does it comes up and down? No I’m not in California but I need the car to be able to pass emissions. I got an early 3/98 production coupe that it’s set up as a race car and it’s definitely more valuable than this. I’m just looking for a convertible to do Sunday drives with the wife go eat seafood at Galveston.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Do the factory plenum comes with the Car??

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@Integrity Thanks for reminding me I was thinking about my car which is an earlier 99.

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@luis.seneriz This is a 2000, so electronic throttle (1999 was the only year for cable). This car comes with the IPD intake plenum and the 997 GT3 throttle body.
    Hope this helps.

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Can you tell me stage size and brand of the larger throttle body. I was told you couldn’t use a bigger one on cable throttle cars.

@Kc2020ghost They sit slightly lower than the factory seats. Not by too much though.

  • Kc2020ghost (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Do the aftermarket seats sit higher or lower than factory seats?

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@Skindoc Haha, passengers better be on their best behavior in this car. ?
Pic 91 and 92 are the light reflection (see pic 90 for a better view). There are no stains in that area.

  • Skindoc (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

In pictures 91,92, there appears to be a rust colored stain? Do you know the origin?

Maybe smoke burns from previous use of the ejection function? LOL

    Thanks

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@GreenGreenGreen I’m not totally sure what they are, but was told that they were BBS replicas made in German. They are good looking rims and I get comments on them all the time.

  • GreenGreenGreen 3 yearsago

    @Integrity - really nice car!
Can you tell me who makes those wheels and what size they are? I think that’s exactly what I’ve been looking of for. They’d be perfect for my 996. Thanks!

    Welcome to the auction all!

Here is a quick overview of the car and about me:

    THE CAR:
This is a lightly modified 996 that I acquired from the PO of nearly 10 years. The owner claimed to have over $45k into the car (including the $25k purchase of the car). He was a gentleman in his 60s and put less than 5k miles on the car (owned since ~69.5k miles). Was always garage kept during his ownership (and likely all owners given the condition of the paint and interior) and was well service. Although modified to look like a track toy, car was never tracked and driven carefully (PO was getting 19 mpgs / spirited driving will net about 14 mpgs / normal driving ~16.5 mpg in my experience). Nicely optioned, well cared for 996 in the classic Guards Red paint. Ready for action!

    ABOUT ME:
I’m not a traditional “dealer” by any stretch, but instead a car enthusiast that likes to experience cool cars and likes the process of selling them also. I started in college by selling 4wd Toyotas and moved on to specializing in 996 cars after I graduated. My knowledge of this drivetrain is good as I have bought and sold a good number of 996 Pcars. My real job is selling commercial insurance as a broker in CA, but enjoy cars and the process too much to give it up. This is more of a hobby for me and act more as an enthusiast providing enthusiast level attention to a car model I love.

Open to questions, I will do my best to answer them as best as I can.

    Hope this helps!

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@r3drov3r Yes, clear and clean CA title ready to transfer to the next owner.

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@jdshap Yes, there are two 8” (or 10”) speakers, one on each side, in a custom built box to fit the back seats. Very easy to remove, takes less than 5 mins.

  • jdshap (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@Integrity Are there speakers on the rear seats? (Is that what I see in pic?). Easily removable?

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@Skindoc You are correct. I’ll ask PCarMarket to fix it. Appreciate the catch!

  • Integrity (seller) 3 yearsago

@jdshap I’ve fit adults back there (probably not the most comfortable, but it works.) But yes, it will fit a child with lots of people that have done it. Here are a couple forum discussions:
