Up for auction is this 2000 Porsche 986 Boxster S finished in Black over a matching leather interior.  This first-year Boxster S comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission paired with a 3.2L flat-six engine and features an upgraded exhaust, lowered suspension, custom accessories, and a set of 18" TechArt wheels.  It has been under the care of the current owners since 2007 and is now being offered for auction out of California showing approximately 101k miles on the odometer.

This 986 is finished in Black with red-painted brake calipers as standard on the Boxster S.  Customizations include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, removable vinyl headlight covers, a red “S” logo, and aftermarket 18" TechArt wheels three-piece currently dressed in Hankook tires.  Some imperfections and cosmetic damages are present throughout the exterior, and the rear bumper is said to have been refinished following the accident reported on CARFAX in 2011.  Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black leather interior includes a three-spoke steering wheel, upgraded stainless steel pedals, and an upgraded Kenwood Bluetooth head unit.  The footwells have also been lined with custom carpet mats.  Some wear is noted on the driver’s inner door sill as well as a tear in the base of the driver’s seat.  The driver’s vanity mirror cover is broken and the wind deflector is missing from behind the headrest.

This launch-year Boxster S features a 3.2L flat-six engine producing as much as 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.  The Boxster S also received more sport-oriented suspension tuning compared to its standard counterpart as well as upgraded brakes with cross-drilled discs and four-piston monobloc calipers.  This example has been fitted with an aftermarket muffler bypass and exhaust tips, and the seller reports routine service to have been carried out by authorized Porsche dealerships throughout their ownership.  Highlights include a new clutch in 2017 at 94k miles and a new fuel level sender, right window regulator, engine mount, oxygen sensor, oil separator, and drive belt in 2018.  The oil and battery have also been replaced within the past several months.

This sale will include a set of two keys, the original owner's manuals, and a clean title.

Dear Porsche fans, as the clock winds down on this auction, I want to share a bit about my experiences driving this car for the last 15 years... 4 years ago I bought a Carrera S, and while it's a great feeling being behind a dream car, it does NOT compare to the experience of driving a MID-engine, low and tight suspension car such as this Boxster. It drives likes it's on rails, gripping and feeling the road, super efficient on turns; you feel like you are in control of every move -- all due to the mid-engine. Even when you have to slow down to a stop to go over humps or into dips, drivers around you don't mind the wait because the car is beautiful, sounds like it means business, and gets respect on the road. People love approaching us to talk about the car, or simply to compliment its elegance. It's an immersive experience driving this car with the top up and being enveloped by the engine and road sound in the cockpit. It's also an awesome experience putting the top down at dusk, feeling the cool air all around you as you pick up speed on scenic drives... I love that the car doesn't have a cup holder; somehow, there's no room to interrupt the experience with beverage consumption. This car has been part of our family for over a decade, and it's with a heavy heart that we're giving it up (due to medical reasons). Happy driving to all.

@Skindoc Hello! In the 15 year ownership of this car, the IMS has not been a problem for us. As you probably know, that issue doesn't impact most cars, and fortunately there haven't been any signs of that issue. For what it's worth, we've been using the same Porsche mechanic since ~2012 and they perform thorough diagnostics and keep good documentation.

@Veritylaw1 Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, these are TechArt Daytonas. In terms of curb rash: 1 wheel is clean, 3 have typical wear and tear that can easily be restored to like-new appearance. Will post additional pictures of the rims shortly. I do not have the OEM rims.
    Thanks again!

Was the IMS issue addressed during the clutch replacement? Thanks GLWA

Are those the Techart Daytona 3 Piece rims? Any road rash on the rims? Do you still have the OEM rims from Porsche?

@GT3-guy Thank you! It IS very cool, and so fun to drive with the lowered/super tight suspension.
