This 2000 Porsche Boxster S is finished Guards Red over a Savannah Beige leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission. The Boxster S was the top-range version of the 986 model and featured a 250 HP flat-six engine, larger brakes with red-painted brake calipers, and dual central exhaust outlets. This inaugural-year example equips automatic climate control, 17” 996 Carrera-look twist-spoke wheels, new tires, and recent maintenance including new engine mounts, transmission mounts, and brake pads. This Boxster S is now being offered for auction by its third owner out of Texas with approximately 58k miles on the odometer.

This 986 is finished in Guards Red with a black cabriolet top. Compared to a standard Boxster, the “S” model receives red-painted brake calipers and dual central exhaust outlets. This Boxster features a ceramic coating, and the seller notes a small imperfection on the passenger rear wheel opening lip. It rides on 17” 996 Carrera-look twist-spoke wheels which were mounted with new Continental Pro Contact Z-rated tires in 2022. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Savannah Beige leather upholstery, and factory features include bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, interior color floor mats, and fleece-lined front and rear luggage compartments. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a cabin wind deflector, side impact airbags, and a central locking system. This Boxster S also comes with two sets of carpeted floor mats and an unused factory tonneau cover in its original bag. The seller notes that all gauges and accessories work properly except for the radio which displays stations but does not produce sound.

The Boxster S is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine that delivers up to 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. As a Boxster S, this example features an upgraded braking system compared to the standard Boxster. Maintenance under current ownership has included the installation of new engine mounts, transmission mounts, vacuum tubes, and all four CV boots. In the Spring of 2023, all four sets of brake pads and sensors were replaced.

This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, a car bra, sales literature, owner’s manuals, and additional carpeted floor mats.

The seller would like you to know: “This is my fifth and favorite Porsche over a span of 50+ years. I've owned it for a little over 2 years, and, I would not sell it except for 1) I need a knee replacement that will keep me from driving a stick for a long time, 2) I'm almost 76 and am finding it harder to bend well to get in, 3)  I bought a new Corvette with an automatic, and 4) I have too many cars and need the room.  I had my mechanic go through the car and repair or replace anything mechanical that was needed when I bought it and have driven it very little in the 2+ years I have owned it.  There should be no "surprises" and no disappointments for the new owner.  This car is stock, with no damage, with new tires and brakes. I do not have any records from either of the previous owners, just receipts for what I have had done.  I have not done the IMS bearing and the car does not need a clutch.  It is an early Boxster S that I have been told was equipped with the double-row bearing when manufactured. Thanks for your interest.  This is my first auction, please bear with me as I try to answer your questions.”

With just over an hour left on the auction, I am here and ready to answer any last minute questions or respond to any requests. I hope someone gets this Porsche at a great price.

I cleaned the carpet on the passenger side of the console and it came out 100% clean. The dark line along the floor's edge came out about 75% and will probably completely clean with a second pass after it dries completely. Hardly noticeable as is. Thanks again for the interest.

The correct order of the pictures is: 153, NTB, 6/10/21, Miles 56,117, 151, Aldo's European, 3/22/22, Miles 57,080 shown on the back page (not pictured, but listing additional parts and labor that add up to the Repair order total shown), 148, Tine's Automotive,8/2/22, Miles 57,460, 150, Aldo's European, 11/1/22, Miles shown 84,743, 95, Photo of dash on 11/27/23, Miles actual,58,167. The 84K mileage shown on the second Aldo's receipt is in error. Several receipts for safety and emissions inspections also verify the correct mileage, but were not included in the photos. Thanks for your interest and patience as I go through my first auction.

@JimHawkins The carfax for the air meter is an error that I never noticed when I paid the bill. I have no idea where Aldo came up with that mileage. He works on a lot of exotics and sports cars and must have gotten two mixed up. As to the mileage of 400 from 2013 to 2020, I believe that is correct. The previous owner and his wife got heavily into off- roading after a trip to Colorado. They had a three car garage, so, the Boxster got parked in the third stall. He told me that he only drove it to and from the golf club about a mile away, on good weekend days. The reason I was able to get the car was he felt it should be driven more. This is a great car with a lot of fun (S)miles ahead for the next owner. To a previous comment about the carpet, I am going to use my wife's carpet spot cleaner on it Monday and report on the outcome then I expect it will come out fine.

Also, the CarFax suggest it got 400 miles on it from 2013 to 2020, does that sound correct to you? I know you weren't the owner then, but does the story make sense from what you know about the car's history? I really like this car, miss my old Boxster a lot, and the opportunity to get a low miles Boxster S from a warm state, is very enticing. I just want to make sure I don't overlook something.

There is an invoice for work done the air mass meter and the mileage is 30k miles higher than you are reporting for this vehicle. Any thoughts on that discrepancy?

The original carpet has never had the factory plastic removed, so, it is excellent. There is a small dark spot on the passenger mat . I did not shampoo the mats prior to the photo shoot, but I did vacuum them. The black mats in the trunk are nearly perfect. The stains on the left edge of the carpet have not been addressed. I agree that it looks like a spill. Likely can be shampooed out.

    Good morning.
Beautiful car. I did notice in several pictures (102, 111) that there appears to be stains on the passenger carpet. Is this a spilled beverage stain that has not been cleaned ...or is it more?
    Thanks. GLWA

@echv57 Thanks for the comment. If anyone wants to see how the tonneau cover looks fully installed, go to the Pelican Parts website and enter boxster tonneau. I had never seen one installed before, and, it looks great. The tonneau with my car is a Porsche original, still in the original canvas tote bag, including instructions in the factory plastic sleeve.

I bought this exact model on Pcarmarket in the summer of 2020, in blue, with similar mileage. This one looks sharp and complete. For me, it's the best looking Boxster and a blast to drive. Good luck!

I remember back in the day, when a friend came over in a new 986 Boxster S that looked just like this one. There was no way he was leaving without me getting a romp in it. It was a revelation with a balance of power and weight distribution like no other car I had ever driven; its a car you can steer with your right foot. I also know the seller of this car who is one of the few guys as eclectic as me when it comes to cars he likes and has owned. We have done plenty of horse trading over the years. He is a stand up guy, so bid with confidence. GLWTS
