Representing the 3rd generation of BMW's legendary M5 sports sedan, the E39 is recognized as one of BMW’s greatest achievements. It boasts the revered S62 V8 engine, impressive performance capabilities, and a host of luxurious features within its understated bodywork. Finished in silver over Black and Silverstone Nappa Point leather upholstery, this 2001 example features a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission and has been modified with several Dinan upgrades including a cold air intake and catback exhaust with Dinan’s complete S1 Package. This E39 M5 Dinan is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing approximately 144k miles on the odometer.
The M5 is distinguished from the standard E39 5-Series model range by its aggressive front and rear bumper design, side skirts, rounded aerodynamic mirrors, trunk lid spoiler, and Shadowline trim. Additional features include xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, and M5 badging on the trunk lid and side moldings. This example is finished in silver, and features a rear DINAN badge along with recently refinished 18” Style 65 wheels wrapped in new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The seller notes that the bumpers have recently been refinished to address paint fading and road-going wear. Minor rock chips are noted on the hood. Detailed images are included in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in October of 2023.
The cabin is appointed with Black and Silverstone Nappa Point leather upholstery complemented by brushed aluminum trim and an Alcantara headliner. Equipment includes power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, and M5-badged door sills and floor mats. Modifications include a Dinan AC Schnitzer emergency brake handle and an Apple Carplay radio with Bluetooth. The seller states that the rear shade and passenger-side seat heating are not functional.
A 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine with double-VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, hollow camshafts, and a quasi-dry-sump lubrication system powers the E39 M5. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Getrag 420G 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Modifications include a Dinan High Flow cold air intake and Fatback exhaust with Dinan’s complete S1 Package with Stage 2 engine software, a strut tower brace, a rear shock tower brace, and a Stage 1 suspension system. The CARFAX report shows 36 service history records and a recent inspection found that the parking brake button does not lock, the steering column bracket needs to be replaced, and the rear control arm bushings are recommended for replacement.

was the front clip painted? other than heated seat and screen are there any other cons you know about?
The email today from Pcarmarket didn't land until all of these actions were finished... I wonder if that would make sense for them to resist all of them that didn't sell to get the seller more exposure for last day lookers/bidders. Just a thought @Dluxor1

@Dupla it’s in very good shape, there are a few rock chips on the hood bumpers were repainted due to fading which is common on these e39’s
This car looks mint for a car with the 144k miles.
No stone chips and the interior is in excellent condition. Has the car ever been repainted?
I have cars with half the mileage and with a lot of stone chips on the hoods.
At the current price you couldn’t buy just the dinan accessories alone. I am well over 30k into this car, someone is going to get a bargain.

Where is the Carfax report link? This M5 does have some history a vin search reveals it went through copart back in July of 2022 (if the internet and vin are to be trusted).. I'm not trying to pour salt on this auction, just shedding some sunlight. I will say that it cleaned up nicely.

Quarter panel is all original, I apologize the lighting in photos give off that effect making it look like a different shade. Will be posting a video walk around shortly to give you a better idea.
