DT-Direct 33k-Mile 2001 BMW Z3 M Roadster S54

The E36/7 BMW M Roadster debuted in 1997 as the high-performance version of the Z3 Roadster housing an M3-derived inline-six paired to a 5-speed manual transmission along with a limited-slip differential, widened bodywork, a model-specific aerodynamic kit, an M-tuned sport suspension, and larger brakes borrowed from the E36 M3. This 2001 example is believed to be one of only 39 finished in Phoenix Yellow Metallic over Black Nappa leather interior. Kept under the meticulous care of its seller, this M Roaster is now being offered with approximately 33k miles on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Phoenix Yellow Metallic with a paint-matched hardtop. The M Roadster can be distinguished from a standard Z3 by its wider rear track, aerodynamic side mirrors, M-style bumpers, vented fenders, and quad exhaust outlets. The factory 17” BMW Style 40 “Roadstar” wheels are mounted. The seller adds that the front license plate bracket holes have been filled and finished under previous ownership, a short antenna has been fitted, and minor signs of road wear are present. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin features Black Nappa leather sport seats with a matching dashboard, center console, and door panels. Model-specific details include M Roadster-branded door sill plates, chrome-ringed M instrumentation, a leather M-Sport steering wheel, and a ZHP shift knob. Newly installed OEM items include a shifter knob, seat bushings, a seatbelt guide, and a rearview mirror. The seller adds that the speakers have been updated, Bluetooth capability has been installed, and minor wear is shown on the driver's seat bolster. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The M Roadster is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 derived from the E46 M3 generating up to 315 HP and 252 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. Performance features include an M-Sport suspension with a lower ride height, stiffened springs and dampers, strengthened semi-trailing arms, and a reinforced subframe. Routine maintenance since 2019 is shown in the CARFAX report along with extensive documentation.

This sale will include a clean title, owner's manuals, and a window sticker.

@Firewood Hi Firewood! Thanks for your comment and your interest. Yes, while Phoenix Yellow was the model color for the literature and press car, it is not for everyone.

Have you visited M Roadster Buyers Guide? This will show the rarity of color combination, current listings, and then specific evaluations of cars on offer.

They have this car listed at "Fair" value, especially due to the rarity of the color and hard top.

A comparable S54, in a more common color, with same mileage is most likely in the $35k range, and I am sure there are cars out there to choose from. Good luck with your search!

    Thanks!

Very desireable S54 Z3M, and very clean! But alas, a not very desireable color for most. My son has been looking for an S54 Z3M, and being a rad youngster he just might go for yellow. So I'm very interested if the price comes down a good bit (with no disrespect intended toward the seller, at $47k the car is ridiculously overpriced. Unlikely even someone crazy about yellow will step up to that number). But if things change please holler back. Sincere best wishes for now! Thanks.

Hello! Thanks for taking a look at this M Roadster! Driven over 2,000 miles in a year of ownership, fully serviced with 4 new Sumitomo HTR Z5 tires, front brakes at 9/13 mm, rears at 8/10mm.

Inspection video from under the car by Otto's BMW in the fall is available for viewing upon request. Convertible top window is clear with only the start of minor hazing (pictures available). Top stand and cover come with the car if desired, along with clear side markers, a glove box fix kit (doesn't need it yet, purely preventative), original window sticker and service records including front bumper and hard top paint work.

    Items to make perfect:
Chip in lower front bumper grill (see picture) - Bimmerworks suggested not to do it.
Passenger door lock cylinder engages with the key, but will tend to spin at times.
Paint chip behind passenger wheel well (see picture) smaller than a dime.
Passenger seat stain – possibly bird poop (see pictures).
Hand break leather (see pictures) end is slightly worn.
Interior trim pulled away near window (see picture), smaller than an inch.
Wheel rash (see picture) on driver side rear.
Driver seat bolster (see picture) is slightly worn.
Missing one hard top rear assembly cover (see the parts picture).

Item of note: Auto Check reported that on 06/22/2004 MELBOURNE, FL 55,047 † - which was obviously a typo, and corrected to the accurate mileage.

Wonderful car, the S54 is incredible, selling to make space for another Pcar.
