The most high-performance version of the original CLK-Class Coupe, the Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG features a hand-built 5.4-liter V8 engine, an AMG Styling Package, larger brakes, and sport-tuned suspension. This final-year example is finished in Black over a Graphite Exclusive Leather interior and includes upgraded 19” Brabus wheels. The car was originally owned in Iowa and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee while showing approximately 49k miles on the odometer.

The CLK 55 features an AMG Styling Package including side skirts, a rear valence, and a front spoiler. This example is finished in Black (040U) and rides on 19” Brabus multi-piece wheels with AMG center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (2021). Other equipment includes xenon headlamps, a power sunroof, and polished dual exhaust tips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Graphite Exclusive leather upholstery with matching carpets and wood veneers spanning the door panels and center console. Amenities include a multifunction leather AMG steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power rear sunshade, heated and power-adjustable seats, cruise control, AMG-branded floor mats, and a Mercedes-Benz stereo system.

A naturally aspirated 5.4-liter M113 V8 engine delivers up to 342 HP and 376 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed automatic transmission. The CLK 55 AMG receives larger brakes than a standard CLK as well as a sport suspension with thicker anti-roll bars and stiffer bushings and dampers. The maintenance history provided on the CARFAX report includes an A/C system service in 2021 and a brake light switch replaced in 2019. The seller adds that an annual service/inspection was completed within the last 300 miles and a set of aftermarket lowering springs are installed.

This sale will include a clean title.

    Definitely a great deal, given the mileage, condition and color combo. I sold my 2002 Silver/black with 88k miles for $10k 4 years ago! Was considering jumping back in but it’s a bit aways. Market wise these have bottomed out and will only go up especially with the w210 E55 values on the rise. This is a keeper for sure!

    The problem (if you feel it is) with the display is not pixel burnout. It is a very common connection issue between the display and board. The plastic clips securing the board, soft jumper and display together simply do not hold them tight enough. A bit of creative modification will restore this to operation for the handy DIY'er. Otherwise, if you really need that display to work properly, and you don't want to spend 30 minutes fixing it, there are people who will take your money.

    @Tirefriar It always bothered me on the BMW's of that generation, I guess with this car, being that it wasn't showing any other information than the time, it didn't bother me enough to address.

  • Tirefriar (registered bidder) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    @allenman the pixel “burn out” is quite common to most of euro cars of similar vintage. IIRC there’s a company that does pixel restoration if you send them the instrument cluster. Again from my memory the cost of repairs is around $300 or so.

  • Tirefriar (registered bidder) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    @Wkstatt9 thank you for that

  • Wkstatt9 (seller) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    @Tirefriar Seats are fully functional and so is everything with the HVAC system. There is no evidence of any previous repair to the body or paintwork. The car is completely stock, with the exception of the wheels and lowering springs, so yes the smog system is intact.

    Thanks

  • Wkstatt9 (seller) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    @allenman Manuals are in the car, there is only 1 key, We are just outside Nashville and happy to pick up the winning bidder at the airport, I do not have the original wheels, The only records are on the carfax, R-134 was introduced in the early 90's and by 1995 was the standard in all cars manufactured, and I didn't attempt to repair or replace the pixelated clock on the instrument cluster as it really didn't bother me. Pictures should speak for themselves as far as overall condition of the car and everything, with the exception of the clock functions properly.

    Thanks!!

  • Tirefriar (registered bidder) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    Are the seat controls fully functional - both the electric and pneumatic? The same for HVAC stepper motors? Any previous body repairs and/or repaints? Is the smog system completely stock and fully functional?

  • allenman (registered bidder) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    @Tirefriar Correct;
    the 208 didn't have a supercharger in any year (at least not USA)
    I think italy did but with a 4 cyl engine

  • allenman (registered bidder) 11 months, 2 weeksago

    got any books or paper records? Keys? How does one get to Hilldale
    tn?..close to what? What kind of "AC service"--refrigerant, compressor, evaporator"?
    cant tell if it's 134 or not...
    Do you have the original wheels?
    Finally, any attempt to repair that instrument cluster?
    thanks....

    @lamacan No modifications other than the wheels and springs.

  • collectorcars (registered bidder) 11 months, 3 weeksago

    @Tirefriar thanks

  • Tirefriar (registered bidder) 11 months, 3 weeksago

    @collectorcars if I may answer ahead of the seller, the 208 clk55 came with a normally aspirated m113 engine. Coupled with a 722 trans (engineered to handle torque of the v12) this was virtually a bulletproof power train.

  • lamacan (registered bidder) 11 months, 3 weeksago

    you can see in your images that this has H&R Springs on the suspension (stamps visible) do you have info on the history of modifications? any others?

  • collectorcars (registered bidder) 11 months, 3 weeksago

    @seller did these have a supercharger from the factory or was 01 the year it didn't?
