The 996 represented a significant step in Porsche's transition from analog to digital technology. It introduced features including a modernized interior design, advanced electronics, and improved comfort and convenience options. This 2001 example comes finished in Arctic Silver metallic over Graphite Grey leather upholstery and features supple leather seats, the Comfort Package, the Advanced Technic Package, and 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels with colored Porsche-crested wheel caps. Said to benefit from an IMS bearing and rear main seal replacement, this Carrera is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 90k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and rides on 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels with Porsche-crested center caps and Kumho Ecsta P531 tires. Equipment includes Litronic headlights and a leadlight cleaning system as part of the Advanced Technic Package, along with a factory speed-activated rear spoiler. Several exterior imperfections are noted along with slight dings on the driver’s side fender and hood. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Graphite Grey upholstery including supple leather seats and a 3-spoke leather steering wheel. Additional options include a sunroof, the Comfort Package which adds electrical adjustments & memory functions for the seats, and the Advanced Technic Package which adds the HiFi Sound System, an onboard computer, and a 6-disc CD changer. Some signs of wear, creases, and scratches are noted.

A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine sends up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with a manual shifting mode. Stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston ventilated disc brakes and the car is rated at a 0-60 MPH time of approximately 6 seconds with a top speed of over 170 MPH. The seller states there are no outstanding maintenance items and the IMS bearing and rear main seal were previously replaced, although no supporting documentation has been provided. The CARFAX report shows a total of 20 service history entries dating back to the initial delivery.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I've owned the vehicle for several years the cars had the IMS done and the rear main seal done. I do not have very many records on the car, but it runs and drives well. The car has new tires, and the new brakes shift perfectly with no issues. No accidents.”

    @On2luck I do not know

    @prmnorton1 Again, as with other cars with IMS concerns that have had their bearings replaced by a Porsche DEALER, what kind of bearing did they use for replacement?
    Porsche stock or a (likely superior) aftermarket product such as made by L&N?

    @68912Porsche I asked of course but no luck, I wasn’t the one who got the service done so they would not provide me with any information unfortunately, but when I bought the car, they did inform you that those things had been done along with several other maintenance items, Ty

    Hi, the car was purchased from D Patrick Porsche a large franchise and very reputable dealership. they Serviced the car many times, I bought it from them about 2-3 years ago when the customer traded it in for A newer one, they are the ones that informed me that the IMS had been done (at customers request, was not needed at time) and the rear main seal was done (also at customers request and was not needed) a long with lots of other maintenance, it Drives great and shifts great, and of course handles awesome, and with 300hp it’s def no slouch, I also replaced all of the tires and the rear brakes in preparation for the sale, Ty

    It’s a nice looking car. I think it would make a fair difference to bidders if some sort of documentation of the ims bearing replacement could be found. It might take some digging but worth it imo.
