Introduced in the U.S. for the 2001 model year, the 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo is favored for its powerful twin-turbocharged Mezger engine derived from the Le Mans-winning GT1 race car. This launch-year Coupe is finished in Seal Grey Metallic over a Graphite Grey full leather interior with factory options including deletion of the front bumperettes, the Park Assist System, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and a 6-speed manual transmission. It has undergone extensive maintenance and upgrades, which include an engine-out service in 2017 with pinned coolant lines, a custom 1 bar tune, K24 turbochargers, Markski Tuning 1 bar wastegates, GT2 intercoolers, CSF aluminum radiators, H&R coilovers, 19” Champion RG5 Forged Monolite wheels, a GT2 Wing, and much more. Accompanied by documentation dating back to 2014, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania, showing approximately 74k miles on the odometer.

This 996 Turbo is finished in Seal Grey Metallic and rides on aftermarket Brilliant Silver-finished 19” Champion RG5 Forged Monolite wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires (33/21). Turbo-distinguishing features include wider bodywork than its contemporary 996 Carrera, unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, integrated side air intakes, and quad exhaust tips. Additionally, this example has been fitted with a GT2 rear wing. The stock 18” Turbo Twist wheels are included in the sale and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires from 2016. The seller notes minor paint blemishes consistent with the car’s age and mileage, and the CARFAX report reflects minor to moderate damage sustained on the right side of the vehicle due to an accident in November 2008. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed in Graphite Grey full leather and features an OEM-style full aluminum trim upgrade with accenting on the doors, gauges, center console, and passenger airbag area. Other features include an aftermarket JVC head unit, heated and electrically-adjustable front seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, power windows and mirrors, a rear window wiper, and an electric sliding sunroof. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This 996 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine that sends power to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Performance upgrades include H&R coilovers, K24 turbochargers, Markski Tuning 1 bar wastegates, GT2 intercoolers, CSF aluminum radiators, RSS rear upper control arms, GT2 rear toe adjustable arms, an FVD exhaust, an EVOMS air intake, a short shifter, aluminum diverter valves, and a custom tune. The original exhaust is said to accompany the sale. In 2017 an engine-out service was performed and included a new stock Sachs clutch, a new water pump/thermostat, a new slave cylinder, a new alternator, a new coolant tank, gluing and pinning of all the coolant lines, new OEM hoses, a 2nd gear detent, a steering/clutch fluid flush, a new drive belt, a new fuel filter, and a new voltage regulator. Other maintenance performed since then has included Denso spark plugs, 997 coil packs, annual oil change with Amsoil oil and Mahle filter, two brake fluid flushes with ATE 200, Blackstone Labs oil analysis at 63k and 69k miles, replacement of both front axles, and new HP pads and Zimmerman rotors installed within the last 2k miles. The seller notes that while the car was stored in the winter, the turbochargers had small oil seepage from the reservoir lines and that they were advised to leave the issue alone until the turbos need to be replaced.

This sale will include a clean title, tool kit, spare tire, air pump, battery charger, owner’s manuals, and some documentation.

This seller would like you to know:  "I have owned this car for 5 years. As I have multiple cars and a dedicated track car, this amazing 996TT was driven spiritedly on summer weekends only AND was extremely well cared for and maintained without regard to expense. It will be hard to replace the quality and feel of what is arguably last of the analog feeling Porsches (I did say arguably!)"

  • edean1 (seller) 10 monthsago

@Cummins990 I have receipts from the prior owner who performed the engine out service- clutch and hoses. As far as the prior mods- K24 turbos and GT2 intercoolers I do not, but a pic of the tag from the turbo is listed and the intercoolers can be seen when the rear bumper is removed

@Cummins990 everything works including the cruise control which i only used just to see if it was working:). no shakes, brakes and rotors have less than 2k on them with no shakes and/or rattles. sometimes the fire extinguisher makes a squeak, but i keep it in the car because i like the look:)

Very nice Porsche 996 TT !
Having 2 currently, not bidding today ( trying to sell one actually )
However, having owned a few different types of Porsches over the years, gratefully, my 2002 and 2003 996 TT's are some of the best driving, fastest and most exhilarating Porsche's !
As mentioned here the " analog " driving experience is unique
Also, when slightly modified, like this good looking 2001 996, Wicked Quick !
    Good luck all

@VOC4S I do not have any info other than the carfax info from 2008. When i purchased the car 5 years ago, Auto Assets in OH ran a paint meter and stated the pass door was a bit thicker. Other than the paint, they did not find any damage or any sign(s) of repair work. And the paint work is top notch and you cannot tell unless you used the meter. When Polar Porsche in NJ did some maintenance in 2019, I asked them to also look over the area and he made the same statement as the tech at Auto Asset.
Regarding the turbos, when I had the wastegates, plugs and coils done, while the intercoolers were removed, I had Polar look them over. I did not get any pics, but to see the seepage you need to have that removed. I was told the turbos are still strong and the reservoir lines coming from the turbos where they connect to the reservoir was seeping very little (i get about a dime size when car sits for a few months). I had a boost test done also and the car had one small vacuum hose that needed replacing.
I will add pics of the oil analysis and receipt from the boost test.
and @tomk both had a chance to see the car in person and drive and can verify the cars shape and driveability including holding boost

  • VOC4S (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

Hi @seller. Any pics of the accident that you can post? Same question on the oil seepage from the turbos, and results of the oil analyses? Also, any turbo boost pressure test results? Finally, did whomever advised on waiting until you replace the turbos offer any guidance on how much life they still have? Thanks in advance for your responses. Nice looking car!

@autoentourage the car has the stock cats, but no clue if they are CA smog compliant.

Wondering if will pass smog in CA

  • edean1 (seller) 10 monthsago

@Zeke I never had the car on a dyno, but if an x50 is approx 450, then with the k24 turbos and 1 bar tune on this car i would guess around 500 +\- at the crank.

  • Zeke (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

Has the motor been on a dynometer? If so what were the results? Thanks

    Zeke
