Up for auction is this well-built 2001 Porsche 911 C4 track car. The car was specifically built to highlight the engineering and fabrication capabilities of a respected Porsche race shop in Chicago. It was designed for and is capable of serious competition but has only been used for recreational track use.  The shop was trying to demonstrate the ease of converting an older water cooled streetcar to an exciting track car.  A crucial part of that goal was to maintain a reliable vehicle that was easy to service and simple to evaluate diagnostically.  All electronic and mechanical systems function as they do on a street car with the exception of the HVAC system, which is standard for a track vehicle.

The car features a hand built and heavily modified m96 2003 S 3.6l engine that was enlarged to 4.0 Liter.  The motor was dyno tuned to output approximately 425 hp and built to extremely precise tolerance levels.  From engine through brakes and suspension, every upgrade possible was addressed to produce a fast, fun, safe and reliable car.  Lots more detail below.

Below is an extensive list of work that was performed on this car:

  • Rebuilt m96 3.6l engine from a 2003 Porsche Carrera s enlarged with ln nickies to 4.0l

There is no way $27,500 will take this car, I wonder what the magic number is.

I remember getting blown away by this car at the autobahn CC a couple of summers ago! Super fast and makes an awesome noise - even through the helmet as it went by. You'd need a lot more money and a cupcar to catch it, looks like a bargain right now.
