Up for auction is this 2002 Lexus SC 430 finished in Absolutely Red over Ecru leather.  A luxurious grand tourer with a convertible hardtop, the Lexus SC model was inspired by yachting design with a special emphasis placed on aerodynamics to provide a comfortable top-down driving experience.  It features a double-wishbone suspension setup as well as a powerful 4.3L V8 engine with VVT-I variable valve timing.  This 2002 example has also been upgraded with a set of genuine Toyota TRD wheels in chrome along with a Gtech performance tune.  Having remained under the care of its original owner from new, this SC 430 recently passed a comprehensive maintenance inspection by Lexus of Melbourne and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with approximately 42k miles showing on the odometer.

The wind tunnel-developed bodywork of this Lexus comes finished in the vibrant shade of Absolutely Red with a matching retractable hardtop.  A one-stage polish has been recently carried out to elevate the true beauty and luster of the Absolutely Red color. The seller notes a few road-going chips on the nose of the car as well as a scratch on the driver side lower rocker panel which has been left unaddressed as to not disturb the originality of the paint.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  This SC 430 rides on a set of upgraded 18” TRD chrome wheels currently dressed in Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Inside, you will find an accommodating Ecru leather interior with a black dashboard and wood trim.  The car came optioned with a premium Mark Levinson sound system as well as heated power-operated seats with position memory, dual-zone climate control, an AM/FM cassette radio with a 6-disc CD changer, and an integrated navigation system.  The cabin is described to have been well-kept throughout the years with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional including the convertible top.

This SC 430 carries a naturally aspirated 3UZ-FE 4.3L V8 engine that sends up to 300 HP and 325 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission.  The platform of the Lexus SC shares characteristics with the GS 430 sport sedan and features a double-wishbone suspension for the front and rear as well as variable-assist power steering.  A Gtech performance ECU tune has also been applied by the original owner. All available maintenance history is provided on the CARFAX report which shows several services carried out by Lexus of Melbourne in recent years including a maintenance inspection completed on 05/17/2021 at 42,146 miles.

This sale will include the original tools and jack along with a clean title.  Highlighting a desirable color combination, low miles, and a clean one-owner history, this well-preserved Lexus SC 430 is just waiting to be enjoyed.

These SC430s are legendary great cars. I am a 50 yr Porsche guy( owned 84 so far). Two years ago bought a Lexus LS 460 as my run around car. Gotta tell you; it is truly the BEST car I have ever owned. Lexus is a great car company.Quality, performance and rock solid dependable.
    Congrats Flatsixer

@Jet2jeff2 Congratulations on the Boxster S. Great buy at 15. I'm a Porsche guy as well. The SC is for the wife who's not a big fan of my 993. Say's it smells like gas. I told her, that's the point.

This car looks very nice aside from the paint damage that is shown.
The fact that it is a one owner car is nice!
So aside from the information on the carfax, you have no records with the car?

Can you post video of the top in operation? Coldstart, walk around?

    Thanks! GLWA!

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Dozer that’s correct. This is an all original 1-owner unicorn with no prior paint work. Be sure to look at the paint meter pics that I’ve attached for validation. ?

  • Dozer (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Just to be certain, I can see the chips, but other that that all the paint in completely original? Thanks.

Today is the final day everyone. Don’t forget to ask any last questions before the bid battle. Who will be the first to place a bid above reserve? Have fun and happy bidding to all.

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Jet2jeff2 very good questions, and you’ll see from all of the dates/service that this car is 100% tip top and ready to enjoy the moment you win the bid.

Two of tires are from June 2018, the other two are from Oct 2018. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 25,000 miles 5 years ago from a Lexus dealer. And the original owner replaced all of the OE fluids with new OE fluids in May of this year. As I’m sure you know, this will save you a few thousand dollars. And if you need assistance with transportation, feel free to ask as we ship cars all over the country. We also take trades. Happy Labor Day bidding!

I just had a request to measure the tire depth. They all came in the same at 8/32 inch. That’s an almost brand new tire as most tires after install are 10s or 9s. The pictures have been uploaded to the file server and I assume PCar will have them posted this afternoon. Let’s get the Labor Day bid party started!

@Anpdup88 I just uploaded 2 pics to the file server and they'll be posted to the auction in an hour. even though it's through the paint, it's very hard to see. it made it through all of our checks and balances without us noticing it until it was pulled in our showroom. We decided to let the winning bidder choose if they wanted us to remove the rocker panel and repair it.

  • Anpdup88 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @DPL perfect thank you! GLWTA!

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Anpdup88 yes I’ll be sure to take a couple additional closer to the car this afternoon so you can see it more clearly. There’s a few that were uploaded when going live but it appears those didn’t make through editing. Give me a few hours and I’ll take care of it. Thank you for the kind words.

  • Anpdup88 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Beautiful car. I may have missed the photo of rocker panel damage, can you upload it please or point it out?

  • DPL (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Drew, and I'm here to answer any questions during or after the auction. I’m very excited to offer this car as it was the most desirable color combo produced for the SC430, and it's hard to deny the care this vehicle has been given by it's previous owner for the past years. For anyone that has previously purchased a vehicle from me will know that I'm an open book, so please ask any questions and I'll be sure to answer them as quickly and respectfully as possible. Traded vehicles are an option with me, so please feel free to DM with the details of your car, and I'm even willing to help you with financing terms if needed. Thank you for your interest and happy bidding.
