DT-Direct 2002 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Coupe 6-Speed

Introduced in 2002, the 996 Carrera 4S sports the wide fenders and bumpers of the Turbo model along with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine sending power to all four wheels. This launch-year example comes finished in Black over a matching full leather interior and features the Advanced Technic Package, the Sport Exhaust System, heated front seats with lumbar support, exclusive aluminum inlays for the shifter and brake handle, and more.

This 996 comes finished in Black and can be distinguished as a 4S by its Turbo-derived bodywork and model-specific reflector band between the taillights. A set of black-finished 997 GT3 wheels have been mounted with Continental ExtremeContact tires. The seller notes some slight dings and paint imperfections, a new windshield cowl has been installed and ceramic coated, and the headlights were restored and ceramic coated. The CARFAX report indicates minor cosmetic damage to the front bumper in 2011.

The driver is situated in a premium black full leather interior with supple leather seats and an Alcantara headliner. Optional features include heated front seats with optional lumbar support, Porsche crested headrests, and aluminum inlays for the shifter and brake handle. Additionally, the optional Advanced Technic Package adds a Bose sound system, Bi-Xenon headlights, and a 6-disc CD changer. The seller adds that new door latches have been fitted and the door locks recently stopped working.

All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission paired with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine producing as much as 320 HP 273 lb.-ft of torque. The 4S also shares its brakes and suspension setup with the Turbo. An upgraded Afterhours exhaust system has been installed and the seller states that a replacement engine with approximately 60k miles was installed about 10k miles ago by an owner/mechanic at Pacific Power Motorsports in Walnut Creek. The IMS bearing was also upgraded along with the installation of 997 coil packs. Recent service is said to include new spark plugs and a new drive belt. The hood struts may require replacement.

    It appears the shifter is leaning to the left when in neutral. is there a short shift kit installed, or possible a detent issue?
