Equipped with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine driving all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, this Carrera 4S came optioned with Porsche Stability Management (PSM), the Advanced Technic Package, a black full leather interior, and more. Finished in Black, this example was acquired by its seller out of California and shipped to New York, where it is now being offered for auction showing approximately 98k miles on the odometer.
Compared to a standard 996 Carrera, the 4S sports wider fenders, Turbo-style bumpers, red brake calipers, and a unique reflector band spanning between the taillights. This example is finished in Black and rides on a set of aftermarket Flow One 19” wheels. The seller notes some minor swirl marks in the paint, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The driver is situated within a Black full leather interior featuring optional power-operated seats, Porsche-crested headrests, black floor mats with Porsche lettering, and a sunroof. Additionally, the Advanced Technic Package adds Bi-Xenon headlights, a HiFi Sound System, and a 6-disc CD changer. The cabin is reported to show minimal wear, and the seller confirms that all gauges, lights, and features remain functional.
For the 2002 model year, the 996 was given a larger displacement 3.6-liter flat-six engine, which is rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that a K&N cold air intake has been fitted and a total of approximately $23k in service items have been carried out under their ownership, including an LN IMS bearing replacement, the rear main seal repaired, a new flywheel, clutch, and front control arm, and regular oil changes. A host of service documents will be included in the sale.

@ronS12 Thanks for your comment. I can confirm that the RIGHT front outer CV boot has a small tear. The front left and both rears are all fine, both inner and outer. This is a very common issue on these four-wheel drive Porsches, unfortunately.
The tear appears to be relatively recent, as a good portion of grease is still inside the boot. Also, there is no noise while driving/clunk when the wheels are turned all the way—so the outer joint itself should be intact. I would certainly recommend that the buyer have this attended to after purchase. Replacing the outer boot is easy enough for the home mechanic (and cheap enough too), although it's somewhat of an involved process. You need to remove the axle nut, pop a lower ball joint, and disconnect the tie rod end in order to get the shaft out. After that you just need to remove the old boot and replace it with a new one that's been freshly packed with grease. You can find an outer CV boot repair kit on Pelican Parts with all the parts you'll need for only $17. The same job at the dealer or service center will cost a couple hundred bucks.
In photo 211 there is a leak at the CV boot. Is that the front left? Not expecting a repair, but bidders should budget for that replacement.

This is an extremely clean black/black C4S. We all know that not everybody enjoys the "fried egg" 911s for their looks (a stance I happen to disagree with yet I shall remain unbiased)... but if you've driven any well-specified 996 911 you would know full well just how much of a hidden gem these cars continue to be. That will not last forever, and sooner or later 996s will not be so easy to get into. Don't miss out.

@VRMoose So what you're referring to is a procedure developed by Flat 6 Motorsports to determine whether or not an LN solution retrofit is even viable depending on an engine's health—mainly checking for bore scoring. There's no strict "qualification" per se before installing an LN solution kit. It should be noted that this car's engine is quite healthy, with good compression and leakdown results (this is according to a mechanic from House Automotive who I spoke over the phone with—the shop that installed the LN kit on this car). In this case, the LN solution kit was installed as a preventative measure by the current owner and no borescope examination was performed.
I do not have a DME report for this car. It was not overrevved under current ownership. I can try and arrange to obtain one before the auction ends if you would like.

Service invoices indicate the IMS Solution was installed … which is the LN oil fed option. It’s my understanding that LN requires each engine must “qualify” for such installation by way of an invasive (bottom entry) borescope. Was this done? What were the results? Do you have borescope photos? Also, can you provide a DME report? Thanks.
