  • Lot #: V-0041017

Introduced in 2001 as the most extreme road-going 911 model yet, the 996 generation Porsche 911 GT2 is based on the contemporary 911 Turbo and features a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. This 2002 example was originally designated for the European market and comes finished in Speed Yellow over a black interior with leather Clubsport bucket seats and an optional stainless-steel roll bar. The car was imported to the U.S. in 2002 and was purchased by the seller on PCARMARKET in 2021. Accompanied by a recent pre-purchase inspection and with just over 9k miles showing on the odometer, this rare 996 GT2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

Based on the 911 Turbo, the GT2’s bodywork features a modified nose section with reshaped air intakes, a larger lip spoiler, and additional vent slits for the radiators as well as a large manually adjustable spoiler fixed into position on the rear decklid. This example is finished in Speed Yellow with matching brake calipers mounted behind factory 18” Turbo Look II wheels. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 show production date codes from 2020 and were mounted within the last 1k miles. A removable Clubsport decal is applied to the driver’s side fender and the front end is preserved by clear paint protection film. The pre-purchase inspection indicates the paint is “90%” original on the car with the exception being the roof which was refinished after being scraped during transport. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior features a pair of Recaro Clubsport bucket seats in leather along with a three-spoke leather steering wheel, an optional stainless-steel roll bar, and stainless-steel door entry guards with model logos. Other equipment includes power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, automatic climate control, a CD compartment, a front center console, and a sound system with an original Porsche CDR-22 radio. The pre-purchase inspection found the interior to be in excellent condition, although the sound system is inoperable.

The GT2’s 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine was adapted from the contemporary 911 Turbo and received larger turbochargers and intercoolers along with a revised air intake, exhaust system, and reprogrammed software for a 10% increase in power. Up to 456 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system includes fixed monobloc calipers with 6 pistons up front, 4 pistons in the rear, and 350mm cross-drilled discs at each corner. The suspension is lowered by 20mm compared to the 911 Turbo and fitted with adjustable components as well as stiffer springs and dampers. The seller notes the car has been maintained with routine fluid changes and replacements of some aging parts.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, an air pump, a car cover, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Offering a raw and exhilarating driving experience, this GT2 is poised for a new owner who values its distinctive mix of performance and heritage.”

@alonevs The areas of concern on the rocker panels have been inspected. It's confirmed to be mud behind the PPF, not paint damage. I have uploaded photos detailing these areas to the gallery.

@armbarre check picture 15 front part of right rocker panel, I think that is the area he may be referring to. Typical stone chip area. It may be just dirt (and probably is on 9k mile car).

As per the headlight/front bumper "gap" it looks normal. Beautiful car - good luck with auction.

  • armbarre (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@rush1392 Could you please specify what you mean by panel gap? It appears you may be referring to the black plastic trim pieces between the headlights and the front bumper, which are correctly positioned without any misalignment.

As for the paint, there is no flaking, a fact supported by the pre-purchase inspection report. Considering the photos were taken in a wet parking lot under an overcast sky, could the water droplets on the car be what you're interpreting as flaking paint?

  • rush1392 (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

Is there anything you can tell us about the panel gap between the front bumper and the headlights where it mets the bottom of the light? also does the rocker show flaking paint?

@MezgerTT Yes, the car's at Orbit Racing and will stay there for viewing through the rest of the auction period.

  • armbarre (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@stim4u I'm not sure why the audio system isn’t working; it was functioning the last time I drove the car. Given its 22 years, the issue might be age-related. Becker Autosound in New Jersey specializes in repairing and servicing these components, with a turnaround time of 7 to 10 business days according to their website. Were I not selling the car, I'd send the CDR-22 there for service and installation of a Bluetooth module. As for oil leaks, I'm not aware of any issues. To provide further assurance, I've uploaded additional undercarriage photos, including views of the engine's underside.

@hot-rods-to-hell The fuel door's plastic hinge needed replacement due to age and has been addressed.

When I took possession of the car it was apparent that some rubber parts had aged out over 20 years and required attention. A comprehensive service invoice, now uploaded, outlines the work completed.

Additionally, I uploaded a PPI conducted by Orbit Racing, a DME report, and paint meter photos.

@Jup-Shawn, thank you for providing clarification. @armbarre, did Orbit do a recent PPI on the GT2 and is there a current DME report? Thank you

  • Jup-Shawn 1 month, 2 weeksago

@hot-rods-to-hell Nice catch on the fuel fill door. The plastic hinge on the fuel filler door was replaced at Orbit before these pictures were taken. Also there has been a lot of service work completed. In June, 2021 the vehicle had 8,455 miles. All the fluids were changed. Engine oil and filter (LIQUI-MOLY), gearbox oil (LIQUI-MOLY), brake fluid (OEM Porsche), and complete coolant system flush (OEM Porsche). Four new Michelin PS2 N4 Porsche spec tires were installed. The front upper strut mounts were worn due to age. The rubber was cracking. New Porsche front upper strut mount were installed along with OEM anti-sway bar drop links. While the struts were removed from the chassis there were new spring seat bearing kits installed. Replaced due to age and we were already there. Four-wheel alignment was completed after the suspension and tire work was completed. Other service items on the same date include, spark plugs, ignition coils, serpentine belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, battery, and front hood struts. All parts installed are OEM Porsche except the battery. It is an Interstate 94R/H7. And the all the work was completed at Orbit. I am the workshop manager at Orbit.

Looked at this Gt2 in Vero Beach at dealer who original sold it to seller. Unfortunately, staff at that dealership had no know ledge on this vehicle. Overall looked great , but as I was leaving notice gap around gas cover was off and when I went to open, it fell apart. Long story short walked away concern there may have been an issue with Gt2. Car was incredible but can this be explained? Also, noticed in drive video that Orbit’s facility is in the back ground. Have they done work or service on this Gt2? Highly reputable…

@ArtVandelay With the closing of the 'Gray Market' era, there were still provisions to import vehicles which were able to be converted to USA standards. There has been a running list of vehicle so petitioned by Registered Importers and approved my the regulating authorities. The GT2 is on the list as are more common (not S&D) Lamborghini / Ferrari / Mercedes Benz Gelaendewagen.

25 year rule and Show or Display are somewhat easier avenues for those that fit these criteria.

Yellow/Black......this is a very nice example of a GT2. And really low miles. I have a silver/black, same year, about the same miles......it might need some company.

Paint meter readings, a DME and some undercarriage pics would be helpful

  • ArtVandelay (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Amazing car! I am just curious... how did a 2002 European delivered car get imported into the U.S. in 2002 if not under Show & Display or 25 years rules?
