Pairing a 6-speed manual transmission with its twin-turbocharged Mezger engine derived from the legendary GT1 race car, this 2002 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe comes finished in Black over a Graphite Grey full leather interior. The car was configured at an original sticker price of over $121k including optional Sport Seats, a shifter and brake lever in carbon fiber and aluminum, and a PCM infotainment system with navigation. It had also been upgraded with a genuine X50 Turbo Powerkit under previous ownership which brings engine output up to 444 HP. Recently serviced and with just over 13k miles showing on the odometer, this 996 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.

The wide bodywork is finished in Black and includes Turbo-specific bumpers, side air intakes, flared rockers, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. It rides on factory 18” 911 Turbo wheels which have been recently refinished and dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The seller adds that the car underwent a single-stage paint correction, and the automatic rear spoiler is slow to activate, although the hydraulic spoiler rams are being rebuilt in preparation for the next owner. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is trimmed in Graphite Grey full leather upholstery including optional power-adjustable Sport Seats and exclusive carbon fiber and aluminum inlays for the shifter and handbrake lever. Other accessories include an Alcantara headliner, automatic climate control, a Bose sound system, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation and a remote 6-disc CD changer. The headlight and ignition switches were replaced as part of a recent service and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories are fully functional.

A twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine sends power to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states an X50 Turbo Powerkit was installed under previous ownership at 1,928 miles and includes larger K24 turbochargers and intercoolers along with a revised ECU and exhaust system for an output of 444 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque. Recent service performed by the seller is said to include new spark plugs and a fuel filter replacement.

This sale will include a set of owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I do have joy and pride in owning, working on, and racing these beautiful cars, especially the 996 Turbo. Don’t miss this beautiful masterpiece.”

@TGMS honestly, you would have a more successful auction listing it as a 13,000 mile 996 Turbo 6-speed. Try it like that and I’m sure the bidders will appreciate it and bid higher. Don’t open yourself up to the can of worms you created. Beautiful car, just not an X50.

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@offtarHess thank you and your crystal ball.

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @TGMS DM sent

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS not OEM. I guess you even as a dealer don’t understand. All good. I have my real X50s as well as 997. 1 turbos in my collection. And, I’m well aware of the difference between a 996 turbo which came equipped with the X50 package and one that was added later. Apples and oranges. It’s like saying you have a Hemi Superbird, meanwhile it was originally a Satellite with a 318.

  • offtarHess (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @MurderMammoth exactly what I thought you’d say.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

This is the same thing that happened with the other auction site

  • ToddH677 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Hope somebody gets to take it home!

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @offtarHess respectfully no.

  • offtarHess (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@MurderMammoth I Don’t disagree that Pcar should have left X50 out of the title. And they did explain that the body of the listing made it clear. And yes that may not have been good enough and they probably would do it different if they had a chance. But can you please be a gentleman. Make your point and then have some class and let the auction take its course. You had your say and you are not wrong.
Now be a grown up and stop!
    Respectfully, me

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    Thx a lot
For all the bidders out there. Very interesting

  • jmorin (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Ok, now that that is settled, who is going to take this home? Since the one guy we know saw it in person and drove it happens to be the high bidder at the moment, it seems to say a lot about the car.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@PorscheGuy32 look at the pictures you will see the records right there.

  • PorscheGuy32 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Was it installed from Porsche dealer with OEM parts? Do you have records?

  • PCARMARKET 10 months, 2 weeksago

X50 has been removed from the title

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@PorscheGuy32 it is OEM. Everything in this car is Porsche Original equipped except the k40 Radar which was installed by the same Porsche dealer.

  • PorscheGuy32 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

I apologize, it does say it in the description the X50 was a added mod. It should however still not to be mentioned like that in title, very misleading. It is NOT OEM and should be noted as such.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Mbdonofrio it seems that you’re more interested in the presentation than the car. Clearly we all know by now that the car had the power kit added to it and it didn’t come from the factory. If I’m in your shoe, I won’t bid on it.

  • Emerald-45 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Read the reviews of the sellwer

  • PorscheGuy32 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

As easy as PCAR deletes my comments they could have edited title.

  • Mbdonofrio (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    “ 13K-MILE 2002 PORSCHE 996 TURBO COUPE X50 6-SPEED”

That’s the title of the listing. The car is being grossly misrepresented.

No confusion as to what’s in big bold letters in the header of the listing.

  • Polo1 10 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $63,000

  • PCARMARKET 10 months, 2 weeksago

@MurderMammoth it is not being advertised that way, we do understand how it could be confusing, however, the write up explains it and we are further clarifying here in the comments. Thank you.

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS again….should not be listed or represented as an X50. You’re diluting the market of the true X50 cars with this rubbish.

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@PCARMARKET then it’s not a true X50 ABS should not be listed as such. Looks like shared liability now that PCAR just chimed in.

  • Alexawy 10 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $60,000

  • PCARMARKET 10 months, 2 weeksago

hello, the write up clearly states that the x50 was dealer installed. Hope this eliminates any confusion

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@MurderMammoth car came as a stock 996 turbo and the power kit was added to it at 1983k miles.

  • Polo1 10 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $55,996

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS promises mean nothing. Where’s the original window sticker showing the X50 package? It’s certainly not on the under hood sticker, nor does the VIN decode having the X50 package via VinAnalytics or and other VIN decoding tool. You, as a dealer, should know better and the potential recourse for misrepresenting a vehicle as something it definitely is not.

  • MurderMammoth (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Hate to be the naysayer, but with original window sticker of $121,000, this example is NOT AN ORIGINAL X50 car. No idea why it would be listed as such as it’s a blatant misrepresentation. Nice car, sure. X50, nope.

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@ToddH677 Due to the "obvious" conflict of interest here, I won't be able to share my feedback after driving the car.
But I promise to do so if the bidding goes above my budget price.

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @ToddH677 Yes I did

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@delanodp look at the oil sumps and you will tell that there bigger in size!! Good luck

  • delanodp 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS not trying to start an argument here but if you are so well versed then why did you report the video with the rear bumper off would allow interested parties to validate the type of turbos on the car... if you were that well versed on the X50 build then you would know for sure that the video was no where close to where the turbos are. 2+2= ?

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Userapatel it is the camera there’s no electrical issues what so ever and no I don’t accept any trades. Thx

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @ToddH677 no dealer fees.

  • ToddH677 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    @TGMS ? Any dealer fees

  • ToddH677 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Alexawy did you get to drive thiscar?

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

In the last driving video why are the mph and clock blinking like that? Don't think it's the camera as the center gauge isn't doing that.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

I have a feeling how this will end up but do you accept trades ins? I'm in Dallas.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Emerald-45 the car will come with one key, all tools, books and manual and out of state buyers will get 60 day temp tags and the title overnight with FedEx. Also the rams will be installed on the car.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@delanodp I can assure you it is an x50, I promise you I more then capable of knowing the difference.

  • Emerald-45 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

How many keys come with this sale?

  • whistles13 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@delanodp Didn't see the option code on the list https://vinanalytics.com/car/WP0AB29992S686204

  • Emerald-45 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Does this sale include the tools, compressor, spare, manuals?
Will the new/rebuilt hydraulic rams for the spoiler be installed before the new owner takes ownership?

  • delanodp 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS Not nit picking here but the turbos come off the manifolds underneath the car. You would have to video or take pics from under the car and up close to the stamping on the cases of the turbos to show what type they are. Pretty sure its clear that the X50 kit can be installed by a dealer (or anyone with the capability) and that some dealer modifications were made. Is it an X50? You be the judge.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@whistles13 yes I do scroll down the pictures and you will see it.

  • wadeholler 10 months, 2 weeksago

    I thought the X50 intercoolers were PNs 996 110 989 71 and 996 110 990 71

@Alexawy no worries, this is the new PCCM+ ( Porsche classic radio) genuine Porsche radio with Nav/ CarPlay/ bluetooth ect… much better upgrade than the orginal audio system and much better than anything out there for these cars. I’ll make sure to post a video when f it playing tomorrow morning because I’m stuck at the race track all day today. FYI Porsche charges much more for the radio and installation than you see on the records. Please don’t hesitate to send me any other questions you have.

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS I appreciate your response. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, It's my first time to buy on this website, and this would be my first X50 "if I win of course"
Another question about the radio/Nav it doesn't look stock. I believe 02 models had a different system. Can you explain more please ? It seems like you prefer responding here than DM cause I've sent multiple messages "unless I'm doing something wrong"
Thanks again for your time, and my bid is the proof that I'm a serious buyer.

@Alexawy I do confirm that the car has k24 turbos. PPI are welcome at our location at anytime just please let them call and make an appointment. Also for the guys out there that know these cars, look good at the video with rear bumper out.

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS honestly, it is a first “for me” to see a $18k job done for less than $2k. But the car does have way more power than a stock 996. I don’t care if it was done even for for free, I just want to confirm that you guarantee that it has K24 turbos “made by Porsche”. This will be the factor for me to decide my maximum bid on this beauty.

@Userapatel I totally agree with you but I was told by the last owner that the car was shared between a group of friends and one of them was a relative to the owner of the Porsche dealer where the power kit was done as kind of favor.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@TGMS so the x50 package from the dealer was about a 18k option at the time, the invoice on the receipt shows a cost of 1500 in parts and 2500 labor with no mention of what parts it included unless I'm totally missing it. That cost seems more inline with a software upgrade. If it only cost someone 4k instead of 18k for such a big upgrade I'm pretty sure every 996 turbo would have one.

With that said I totally admit I wouldn't be able to tell by looks if all the parts are there or not so maybe someone else can chime in. I figured since the owner kept all the receipts there would be one for all the necessary parts.

I do plan on bidding as it looks to be in great shape but just hard to add a premium without having everything documented

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Userapatel I confirm that the car has k24 turbos so they are the bigger ones and the upgrade back then was for 2500 you can see it on the records from the Porsche dealer. Also if you look in the second video I have the bumper out so you guys can see them. Please if you need an additional photos for the turbos I’ll be more then happy to send them over.

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@Alexawy sure that would work feel free to contact me when you have chance and I will be available tomorrow all day if anyone would like to come see it and drive it.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Can you also confirm that it has the upgraded turbos? and intercoolers? I see the kit purchased but i highly doubt the bigger turbos were intercoolers were included in that cost. I can't even seem to find what a $1500 power kit would consist of so if you can point me in the right direction of what this actually includes it would be helpful. It's still a beautiful car but not being x50 from the factory just makes me wonder what was actually done.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Also would be interested in seeing it person

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

I'm in Houston. Is it possible that I can view the car before the auction ends, and maybe test drive it ?

  • Alexawy (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Just watching that driving video pumped the adrenaline lol Nice 996 for sure!

  • Alexawy 10 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $20,000

  • Emerald-45 (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

    Nice driving video.
When the rebuilding hydraulic rear spoiler rams have been completed, would you make a video of the complete operation?
Does you ad say one of the headlight were replace or did you mean both were replaced because of fog on the lens or??
Does the sale come with the factory manuals, spare, jack, air compressor, CD for the Nav system, etc?

Great comments of the upgraded X-50 power package. I thought the stronger trans on the x-50's were only on the automatics??

  • ToddH677 10 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $15,000

  • TGMS (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Well I thought the same thing until I saw the turbos and they are k24s. Now to add to your knowledge on the some x50 Intercoolers are exactly the same like stock so not all x50 came with bigger intercoolers. I’m with you that the add should be corrected but I made sure to let them know that the car is not an x50 and it had the x50 pkg added to it at the dealer when it only had 1983 miles. Please let me know know if there’s anything else or any other questions that your have.

  • vengerider (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

I am not trying to throw shade at all but the power kit, from my experience, cannot be added to a standard turbo. I think you have an ECU reflash that can easily bring the power of a standard 996 Turbo to X50 levels. However, to call it an X50 is not accurate. The X50 had modified turbos, larger intercoolers, different ECU programming, exhaust and some strengthening of the transmission for cost of $17,700. There is no way you have this for $1500 and the listing should be updated to as it is not accurate.

  • edgy4sure (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

paint correction was done when exactly? after the photos were taken? with only 13K miles the paint cannot be in bad shape, so the photos do it a disservice, though if the wheels have been refinished, then who knows...

regardless, having never owned a TT, I'd be in for a 996 only because they are a bargain compared to a 993 or even a 997, and I've never minded the .2 headlights

excited to see how this pans out - this beast has a lot of life in it, buy and enjoy

@Emerald-45 hey pictures of the rear bumper taken off so you Guys can see the inter cooler and turbos. The power kit was added on the car when I had only 1982 miles you can see it on the records and I’ll be more than happy to email them to you if you can’t see them.

  • Emerald-45 (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

Why are a few of the pictures shown with the rear panel removed??
Do I understand that the X-50 Power Package was added after the Porsche was purchased from the Factory? Do you have paperwork on this conversion? If you have listed the work order paperwork, I can not read it. Please send another copy for verification. Thank you
