@gewrecker Thanks for the update! So the IMS is a bit past due for replacement, per LNE's recommended service life for the fix installed in 2015. I have read elsewhere that the LNE recommended service life is very conservative, and that actual bearing life far exceeds the 4-6yrs recommended. Not sure when the LNE lifetime fix became available but it seems like many if not most cars that had the IMS replaced up to the mid-2010s have the serviceable fix, so this is definitely not an outlier. It's a beautiful an clean example so this minor cost shouldn't hold any bids back.

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@ralavis I stand corrected on the IMS, it was replaced in 2015. My bad!!

@flyboy8784 The clutch was replaced in July 2015

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@Lufti I never drove this car in the winter, in snow, on ice with salt on the road. The car was in a garage on a battery tender. Before I owned it, I have no idea what that owner did. The bottom is relatively clean.

  • flyboy8784 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Hey there. Does it have the original clutch?

  • Lufti (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Being a Northeast car - what does the undercarriage look like.
Do you have any pictures? Thanks

  • palmerd27 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@SeaDooRider68 That 996 is not red enough for my likes, but thanks for mentioning it to me.
Will just keep waiting for one in Bright Guards red, tan interior, just like most Ferraris.

  • ralavis (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

    @gewrecker yes thank you!

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@ralavis The invoice speaks to IMS retrofit. Hope that answers your question

  • ralavis (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker so it must be a different vehicle listed in LN's database. Do you happen to know if the fix applied was the "IMS Retrofit" or "IMS Solution"? (assuming it was LN)

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@ralavis The IMS bearing was completed in June 2016.

  • ralavis (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Was the IMS done in 2015 and by "Christopher Radbills Automotive Repair"? That's the record in LN's database, but often two cars have the same last 6 VIN digits so could be duplicates. It also looks like the car got the "IMS retrofit" (which has a 4yr/50k mile recommended service life) rather than the "IMS solution" which is a lifetime fix.

@palmerd27 I’m looking for a 99’ 996 in blue/tan. What’s the mileage on yours. Could be interested. Thanks

@palmerd27 Arena Red 996 Cab listed on this site.

  • palmerd27 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Really wanted a red or white Cabriolet, but they do not seem to exist. Why the original buyers all wanted blue is beyond me.
I now have two blue/tan interior 911's from 1999 and 2000, both up for sale due to high miles but I prefer this color combo over those.
Frequent buyer and seller trying to upgrade.
Someday a Turbo, but prices prohibit for now.

@Xcellr8 Not a expert on that subject, it is a factory Aero kit...

  • Xcellr8 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Thanks for making this 996 available on PCAR. I’m not a big fan of the wing, can it be removed without leaving holes in the original sheet metal?

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@Needle4 My son in law owns a garage. The oil and filter were last changed in June 2020. I have a new oil drain plug just for the next owner. I do not do Porsche dealer service if that is what your PPI is referring to.

  • Needle4 (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

When was the last service done on the vehicle? The Carfax only showed up until June 2019. Has there been a PPI that can be shared? Thanks,

@Rarsenault In the fact this car has always lived in a garage or under a car cover, I have no such problems or concerns. I am not aware of any drainage ports issues nor have noted any.

  • Rarsenault (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker from what I understand there is drainage spots for the top that can get clogged if not regularly check when serviced. Not sure if these cars have them but ny 2014 boxster s had them.

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker I sent a walk around video to PCarmarket, but do not understand why it has not been posted on the auction...

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@Rarsenault And the top is cleaned when I washed the car. I use Meguiar's for the top.

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@Rarsenault Your lucky day...if you buy the car, you get a brand new oil drain plug!!! Just for the next oil change.

  • Rarsenault (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker so, no videos then? Has the maintenance on the top been kept up to date? The drain plugs?

  • gewrecker (seller) 3 yearsago

@Rarsenault Rest assured the car starts easily and the top goes up and down very well and easy

@LongwoodCharger This car was not listed here last year...be sure of that.
PCarMarket has the IMS information. Not sure why is does not show online. I am unable to upload to this message board...tried, but not successful

  • LongwoodCharger (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker Can you upload the IMS bearing invoice? Nevermind about the previous question. The other car was in same color combo but much higher mileage.

  • LongwoodCharger (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@gewrecker Was this car sold here last year? I was bidding and glad to see it available again.
