Professionally built by Titan Motorsports, this 2002 Porsche 986 Boxster S has been converted into a race car featuring lightweight Lexan windows, a full roll cage, AST 3-way adjustable shocks, GT3 brake cooling ducts and lower control arms, stainless steel brake lines, an upgraded IMS bearing, a fire suppression system, and a Cool Shirt system. Prepared for PCA F Class racing, this 986 has been meticulously maintained under the ownership of a Porsche technician and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing approximately 93k miles on the odometer.

This Boxster S came factory-finished in Lapis Blue Metallic and currently wears a vinyl blue and orange Gulf Racing livery. Equipment includes a removable hardtop, factory bi-xenon headlamps, an extendable rear spoiler, front and rear tow hooks, dual center-mounted tailpipes, red brake calipers, lightweight Lexan rear and side windows, and 17” Boxster S wheels finished in black with Nitto tires. The seller notes some signs of wear and cosmetic damage to the passenger side rocker panels.

The cabin has been stripped out, refinished in yellow, and outfitted with a full roll cage built to NASCAR safety specifications. Equipment includes a Sparco racing seat with an OMP safety harness, a three-spoke OMP steering wheel, Rennline aluminum track mats, an AutoBlip module, a Cool Shirt system, a Race-Keeper unit, and a fire suppression system.

A naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. An upgraded IMS bearing has been installed and the suspension has been modified with GT3 control arms and AST 3-way adjustable shocks. Other modifications include stainless steel brake lines, GT3 brake cooling ducts, and a rebuilt GT3 brake master cylinder. The seller notes new brake pads and rotors have been installed with two racing events driven since. A brake system flush was also completed using Motul 660 fluid. An extensive collection of maintenance records is said to accompany the sale.

This 986 is offered with a bill of sale.

The seller would like you to know: “This Boxster was professionally built by Titan Motorsports, a 3-inch binder full of service records. It has been meticulously maintained over the course of my ownership. I have personally done DEs, but previous owners have done a couple of races. Slight rocker panel damage and tire marks on the wrap. Otherwise, no accidents, clean CARFAC. This is a perfect DE car for beginner or even advanced drivers. Comes with PCA with the logbook ready to campaign in PCA F class. This is not a garage-built track car, this car has been built professionally. This is a purpose-built RACE CAR, it is not street legal.”

A big reason converted race cars have no title is because every time they switch hands, the buyer would have to pay tax on them when they re-register it in their state. The titles end up getting lost or destroyed in the shuffle from prior owners. My last 2 race cars had no title and current one has a Texas title from 3 owners ago.

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 2 weeksago

@justdiggin A title can be had, would need to file for a “lost title”. There is really no reason the car needs to be titled since it’s strictly a race car and can never be street driven. A majority of race cars on this platform are bill of sale also. I have a paper trail from the car when it was purchased at dealer as a street car. The car still has $35,000 of insurance coverage no issues. You can run the vin it’s a clean vin no bad history with the car.

  • justdiggin (registered bidder) 9 months, 2 weeksago

This car, imho, should still be titled SOMEWHERE?
sure its not legal to REGISTER or license as a street legal car, but, if all vin #'s, tags, data plates etc. are intact, why no title?
Was it from a 'bill of sale only' state originally?
I think the bidding is reflective of this undefined scenario regarding 'no title'.
Please tell us more mr. seller.
    Thank you!

    Thank you seller

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@justdiggin only extras that are included is the car cover. Everything that comes with car is in photos.

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@justdiggin yes factory vin tags are still intact on the car. No vins we’re removed, car was purchased as a street car from previous owner then changed into a track car.

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@justdiggin no aero wing wasn’t included when I got the car. Anything not in photos isn’t included

    thanks

  • justdiggin (registered bidder) 9 months, 3 weeksago

    hi.
fun car, i'll pop a few bids and hope i get it.

please, can you tell us, are the factory VIN tags intact? pics PLEASE?
i'll drive it on the street infrequently, title or no title, but i don't want it (OR ME!) to get impounded when i'm caught.

    what spares are included?
any xtra wheels, tires, bits n pieces, calipers, pads, rotors, clutches, TOOLS etc...?

@TransaxleJoe No title since it’s a dedicated race car. The car is strictly a race car, track car only would be not very comfortable on street. Unfortunately the car is too far converted to be a street car.

  • TransaxleJoe (registered bidder) 9 months, 3 weeksago

Hello, I was wondering why there isn’t a vehicle title for it? Race cars ? Could it be turned into a street legal again?
    Thank you.

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@smlobx 1) I never had car weighed since I only did Hpde days. Log book shows 3004lbs

    2) not sure spring weight, I will check the paperwork to see if I can find that out.

    3) previous owner had a big aero wing on the car and was replaced with a stock red lid with no holes.

  • smlobx (registered bidder) 9 months, 3 weeksago

A couple of questions if you don’t mind..
    1. What is the weight of the car?
    2. What spring weights are on it?
    3. Why is the inside of the rear trunk red?
    Thank you.

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@Eredding1477 PCA F Class. Porsche club racing

  • Eredding1477 9 months, 3 weeksago

What class is this built to race in?

  • xcsp5002 (seller) 9 months, 3 weeksago

@Davearm127 The motor is the original 3.2. Was a previous street car before it was built into track car. The previous owner has a build From what pervious owner told me the Ceramic IMS, RMS, clutch, Brey Krause oil pan extension kit was all done during transmission rebuild at 90k miles. I am not certain the exact miles it was serviced at I will see if I can locate the invoice it the service records. The car was maintained by ZOTZ and also transported to all track event by them prior to my owner ship.

  • Davearm127 (registered bidder) 9 months, 3 weeksago

Do you know the mileage on the motor/drivetrain. When was the IMS done, and any other major service while the IMS was done?
    Thanks
