Jaguar’s premier full-size luxury car from the late 1990s through the early 2000s, the XJ (X308) features a V8 engine and traditional styling by Geoff Lawson, designer of the iconic Jaguar XJ220 supercar. This 2003 Jaguar XJ Sport comes finished in Platinum over a Charcoal leather interior and derives up to 290 HP from a 4.0-liter V8 engine. It came factory-equipped with optional heated front and rear seats, seat position memory settings, a sunroof, optional Premium Sound, rain-sensing wipers, and sport suspension. The car was originally sold in Southampton, New York, where it remained until 2015 before it was eventually acquired by the seller from its second owner in 2022. This Jaguar is now being offered for auction out of New Hampshire with approximately 98k miles on the odometer.

The X308 generation Jaguar XJ shared much of its styling with the previous X300 version and can be differentiated by its revised bumpers, taillights, grille surround, fog lights, and badging. It features a traditional rounded quad headlight configuration as well as dual front grilles, polished window and bumper trim, body-colored side moldings, twin exhaust tailpipes, and a prominent Jaguar hood ornament. This example comes finished in Platinum and rides on 18” Penta alloy wheels. The seller notes the General G Max all-season tires are in very good condition while showing production date codes from 2017. A few small imperfections are also said to have been repaired with touch-up paint on the rear bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Charcoal leather upholstery complemented by burl walnut wood trim. Accessories include optional front and rear heated seats, Premium Sound with Alpine speakers, an analog clock, remote entry, front seat position memory, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, power windows, cruise control, a sunroof, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wiper, rubber floor mats, and polished Jaguar logo treadplates. The interior is described to be in very good condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.

A naturally aspirated 4.0-liter 32-valve V8 DOHC engine delivers up to 290 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. The car comes equipped with sport suspension, traction stability control, and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. The seller notes the rear pinion seal was replaced within the last 10k miles along with the valve cover gaskets and a coolant flush.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, some service records, and a clean title.

Hi Nathaniel, Not at all. Most of the trips i've taken in the Jag were highway for work. She humms right along at 75 w AC up and running and temp needle stays right in the middle. I just took her on a 300 mile round trip last week. Only thing I would do is get an oil change first because it's due at 100k. If your interested I also have a Thule rack for bikes/paddle boards etc..

Would you have any concerns taking this on a 1000 mile trip in its current condition? ie fly in and drive home to NC

Thank you for the clarification. I live in AZ and would need the car shipped if I win the bid. Can you provide a zip code for pick up? Are you close to a major highway or more rural?

Hello, First, thank you for your question as other folks may have similar questions. Please see the attached carfax photos. I purchased the car 3/26/22 and titled it 4/26/22. I have owned the car a year and a half and put 10,000 miles on it. I am an auto and motorcycle enthusiast and usually have a handful of classic and/or European cars that I drive selectively. I drove the jag frequently and loved it for the last year and a half, but now it's time to enjoy something else. The car needs absolutely nothing but an oil change when it gets close to 100k. I proactively fixed the pinion seal(fluid) and valve cover gaskets(oil) as the gaskets were leaking every so slightly and flushed antifreeze to be safe. I also replaced one oxygen sensor during my ownership.

@pdenbow It appears you just bought it less than 6 months ago, why are you choosing to sell it already?

I agree on all fronts. The car mechanically and electrically is bullet proof and looks pretty sweet too!
Not even a door ding on her. Jag definitely did their homework on the sport model. Thanks for the positive vibes.

  • vo152 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

Nothing quite like an old Jag. 2002/2003 model years are effectively bulletproof mechanically.

When it comes to the looks, nothing looks like it. This one has the best looking wheels in my opinion - the 18" Penta's. However, XK8 wheels fit no problem as well.

If I were bidding on this one, I would look to get a mesh grill (upper and lower) and a nice exhaust system upgrade.

They look lean and mean, superb to drive and are genuinely great value for money. It's one of those cars that will make you purr... I mean smile!

All the best with the sale.

In addition to the maintenance items I performed, second owner (80-90K miles duration, 6 years) replaced tires, battery, front and rear bushings, rear shocks, and charged AC.

  • pdenbow (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

Good luck to all. I have not placed a reserve on my Jaguar hoping that it lands in a good home via some enthusiastic bidding. She has been an excellent book end to my 22 F Pace SVR for the last year and a half or so. As you can see from the carfax, my jag has been exceptionally maintained and there are many more trouble free years of motoring left in this seasoned Kitty. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I still keep in touch with the second owner and he can provide additional color as needed.
