Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Graphite Grey interior, this 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet is equipped with the optional Xenon Headlamp Package, Power Seat Package, and a Tiptronic S transmission paired with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. It was first registered in Georgia and acquired by the current owner in California in 2007 where it is now being offered for auction showing just over 53k miles on the odometer.

The body is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a Graphite Grey cabriolet top, optional xenon headlamps, and factory 17” 10-spoke wheels with “Carrera 4” logo center caps. Flared GT3-style rocker panels have been fitted along with a painted wing on the rear spoiler. The CARFAX report shows an incident in 2013 and the seller states cosmetic damage to the right rear quarter panel was professionally repaired as a result. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report.

The Graphite Grey interior features optional heated and power-operated seats as well as silver-painted upper and lower center consoles. Other accessories include “Carrera 4” logo door sills, automatic climate control, a CD storage compartment, a removable wind deflector, and a sound system with an original Porsche CDR23 radio.

Up to 315 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque are sent to all four wheels from a 3.6-liter flat-six engine paired with a Tiptronic S shiftable automatic transmission. The seller states routine maintenance has been carried out at a local Porsche dealer and the CARFAX report shows service history including replacement of the spark plugs, battery, water pump, oil, and air filter in February 2021.

    "a dealer in Beverly Hills..."

    Let me guess.

@Bruce914 Bruce, If you seeking this model you will never find a cleaner or more honest vehicle. I have no idea what Car Fax considers an "owner". The car was registered again as a part of a divorce settlement and that could be it, but I purchased the car in the Bay Area 14 years or so ago from the dealer that is engraved on the back of the keys. Also I do not know what Car FAx is talking about re; mileage. All service records indicate mileage and date of service.
If the car is not sold here where comeone can see it and drive it if they wish, it is going to a dealer in Beverly Hills that has said he can get $25-26K for it and who I have previously done business with some time ago.

Is the supplementary rear spoiler (commonly known as the basket spoiler) a bolt on item and thus removeable? Is the fabric top original? Thanks

Yesterday I asked if the car was available to view and why owner #5 was in 2017 but you have owned it since 2007? The comments I made are not visible now.

@donspaulding I forgot to answer your question about the top.
Yes, it is fully operational and I have pictures showing it in various positions.

@Fryingpan Well you seem more knowledgeable on this issue than I am, and if you feel more comfortable doing the IM bearing, I would consider that cost relative to the purchase price. She really has been a wonderful car. BTW, I noticed on the car fax that the said there was a potential difference in reported mileage. One of the repair shops must have entered it incorrectly. All service records will confirm that the mileage is as represented.
Also, the accident reported to the front right fender was from a driver backing out of a parking place and didn't see me. Her car was going about 3-5 mph.
Everything was repaired meticulously. Thank you for your interest, walt

@donspaulding Don please educate me on the basket handle question. The car does not need to be serviced.
You could drive it across country from California with confidence. Thank you for your interest.

Basket handle at rear air grille removeable? Top fully functional (44/70)? Tip had recent
    service? Thanks

  • Fryingpan (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Walt, IMHO, I would look for a new service advisor. As these 996's age, time, not miles, is the enemy of the IMSB (and I know from personal experience). That's not to say that your car has a bad ISMB. However, along with several other expiring items under that engine hatch, it should be looked at and if it were me, replaced.

  • waltporsche911 (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

    No deferred maintenance whatsoever.
The IMS has not been replaced, and when this issue came to my attention during this listing
I discussed it with my service writer at Niello Porsche. In his 16 years he has never seen a bearing go out on a car with 50K miles. He said the problem occurred much earlier in the life of this model. Thanks for your question and interest.

Has the original IMS been replaced?

Any known maintenance/repairs needed that have been deferred and would need to be addressed by new owner?
