Up for auction is this 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a Graphite Grey full leather interior.  This second-generation 996 Carrera features a 3.6L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission along with a host of Exclusive factory options including aluminum instrument dials, the Sport Exhaust System, Porsche crested headrests, deviated seat inserts, and deviated carpeting.  Under previous ownership, this 996 was treated to an oil-fed IMS bearing upgrade, stage 3 clutch, and Ksport coilovers.  The car has also been outfitted with houndstooth-upholstered GT3-style bucket seats, new semi-solid engine mounts, and a straight-through exhaust system.  Currently showing approximately 92k miles on the odometer, this nicely equipped 996 Carrera is being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia accompanied by the original seats and Porsche Sport Exhaust.

This 996 is finished in Midnight Blue Metallic.  The car is said to have only seen track use once under prior ownership and the seller notes some minor cosmetic imperfections throughout the exterior including a small ding on the driver side rear quarter panel.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  For the second generation of the 996, the Carrera received a facelift including redesigned headlamps derived from the Turbo model.  Optional details on this 2003 example include a deleted rear model designation and the Xenon Headlamp Package. It rides on aftermarket Italian-made 18” OZ Racing Alleggerita wheels that come dressed in Achilles ATR Sport tires.  Some cosmetic damage to the wheels is depicted in the photo gallery.

Inside, you will find a premium Graphite Grey full leather interior with Exclusive deviated carpeting, aluminum instrument dials, a Rennline aluminum driver’s side floorboard, and custom GT3-style bucket seats with houndstooth-upholstered centers.  Also included in the sale are the original heated supple leather seats featuring Exclusive deviated centers and Porsche crested headrests.  Other factory options include Metropol Blue floormats and the Hi-Fi Sound System.  The original Porsche/Becker CDR23 radio has been retained and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be functional, although the sunroof switch and radio volume knob are said to have intermittent issues.

This second-generation 996 Carrera is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque stock.  The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission.  The car has been fitted with new semi-solid engine mounts and a free-flowing exhaust, and the original Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) mufflers will be included with the sale as well.  An invoice from the previous owner shows a TuneRS Motorsports oil-fed IMS bearing upgrade to have been installed in 2019 along with a new rear main seal, a Spec stage 3 clutch kit, and all associated hardware at 87,461 miles.  Other recent services and upgrades are said to include Ksport coilovers, adjustable sway bar end links, all new brake pads and rotors, an oil change, a new air filter, and an alignment to GT3 specifications.  The CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance and the invoice from the IMS bearing and clutch upgrade is provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a set of two master keys, one valet key, the original owner's manuals, the original seats, Sport Exhaust mufflers, IMS bearing invoice, and a clean title.  This well-equipped 996 Carrera is just waiting to be driven and enjoyed, do not let this opportunity pass you by.

    Griel I thinks is ok. I was going to go as high as $22,996. I honestly think the wheels took away from it. The seats if I got it I was going to ask for originals. Hopefully you did ok on this.

  • El_Chingon (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Griehl If that’s what you supplied to pcarmarket then you should know that that’s not, in any way, a standard DME report.
    Looks like a fun car though.

    Griel is not revolutions it is how many times it happened. Range one is how many times it has hit rev limiter. And those are not concerning at all.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @luis.seneriz agreed.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @luis.seneriz only a few revolutions in ign 2, none over the red line

    Cam dev all under 3 degrees

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Porsche says cam deviations under 6 are ok, Jake Raby at FSI says keep it under 4 so these are good. Range 2 over revs are normally missed downshifts and you have to be a little concerned about these.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @PCARMARKET way to go not uploading my dme report

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Griel just tell us the summary of Dme, I think I believe you.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @DriverF1 It only a few revolutions in range 2, and the cam devotions were both under 3

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @DriverF1 they did not upload it.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @luis.seneriz yup

    Semi off topic, but note to the buyer - I just put a Porsche Classic PCCM Plus radio in my 03 911. Buy this car, upgrade the stereo (about $1,900) and you will feel like you got a much newer car in the deal. The PCCM transforms the sound and the driving experience because it modernizes the car. Classic.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    it's go time folks, let's see how this plays out!

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Griehl I have never sold a car on Pcarmarket so excuse me for my confusion. Isn’t there just a drag and drop available in your (the seller’s only) comment section. On other well known auction sites there are.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @PCARMARKET I uploaded a dme report pic, please post. Thanks!!!!!+

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Guys and gals, I have a dme report report. Only a few revolutions in range 1 and none in rage 2. We also have very low cam deceptions.

    The picture will be uploaded shortly

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @PCARMARKET are driving vids up?

  • PCARMARKET 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Griehl The listing description has been updated.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    as a side note: I will be happy to swap the seats out if the winning bidder prefers the OE seats

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Mercyhealth all good comments and questions...I did want to clear one thing up. The seats in it are NOT Recaros -- they have the Recaro stickers on them but they are NOT Recaros. I did email PCar to fix the listing but I guess they are closed on the weekends. If I were to keep the car I would put the stock seats back in the car for the reasons you said. The buckets do go back and forth but as with all buckets are fixed. I am 42 and getting in and out is a little bit of an operation. They look cool and have great support and I am sure they are great for the track but you can track the car with the stock seats in it as well and then normal driving would then be more enjoyable...unless the goal was to track it more than street it.

    Also, side note, wheel swap would be easy. Any narrow body wheels will fit

    As far as doing all this work one 'one track day', I bought the 996 already built from a guy that built the car with the intent of a dual use track and street usage. He then opted for a street car and a dedicated track car. He did track it once and then I bought it. I do have a dealership in Savannah so this is a 'dealer sale', but I intended to get into track events but I just dont have the time right now so I am selling it.

    Hope I answered your questions!

    @Griehl great looking 996 not a fan of the rims. Seems a bit difficult to understand the cost of the Recaros and the rest of the mods for one track day. But nonetheless they are pretty unique in the 996. I assume the seats have some forward/back adjustability but otherwise a fixed seat position (give or take a few degrees of mechanical adjustment). They are a bit difficult to enter and exit (age dependent obviously). Not your 60 yo daily roller but I really like the blue. Thankfully you are not 2000 miles away from me. Thus a savings right there. Good luck!

    @luis.seneriz you'll need more than that to get it bought but on the right track

    There you go. Seems like a nice car.

    @luis.seneriz hit that bid button!!!!!!!!!

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Thanks I want drivers Not garage queens and it has been proven over and over again you need to drive these cars. Drove mine 25 miles today twice triple digits no problems after everything was up to temp. I like the color combo.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @luis.seneriz meant to say I'd drive it to Alaska and then back home again

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @luis.seneriz id drive it Alaska and then back home again

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Would you have any concerns driving it to Houston Texas. That’s probably 1,000 miles. When I bought my 3/98 996.1 coupe in January I drove it all the way from Wisconsin straight through, 1,300 miles no issues. It’s a great way to get to know the car and this is not a low mileage collector anyway.

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Nygator09 sure thing. I can in a few

  • Nygator09 (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Seller, could you please post a driving video?

  • Carrera991.2222 (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @jarsh they were in the vehicle when I bought it -- unknown where they came from

  • jarsh 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @seller where did you get the seats from?

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Nygator09 No rust, no body work, no leaks of any fluid

    A proper ppi was not done but the previous owner did or had done all the work stated in ad. All the weak spots on this generation have been addressed

    A ppi would show worn rear tires, bucket seats, and a straight piped exhaust

    Any other questions, let me know!!

  • Nygator09 (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    Nice looking 996. A few questions for the seller:

    Is a recent PPI available?
    Any accidents or body repair work?
    Any rust?
    Any oil leaks?

  • Griehl (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    @Carrera991.2222 thanks for the bid!

  • Carrera991.2222 (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

    This looks like a good buy, esp with the remote fed IMS and all the suspension work. I am actually glad I can put what tires I want on the rear of the car.

    Hello folks!!!! This is an amazing 996.2... go turn laps on the weekend and then take her to the office on Monday!!

    I will be very active on the listing to answer any questions! A few things to note:

    The front tires are in good shape however the rr tire is worn and the left rear also has some wear to it. I did not replace them prior to the sale simply bcs I know people can be particular about what tires go on their 911.

    Also to note, on the factory pse, BOTH solenoids are way gone. They are available for about $75 if you wanted to reinstall

    I look forward to a fun auction!!!!
