We are pleased to offer this 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S finished in Basalt Black Metallic over a Graphite Grey full leather interior. Renowned for its wide Turbo-derived styling, brakes, and all-wheel-drive performance, the Carrera 4S remains one of the more desirable models of the 996 generation. Configured at an original cost of over $88k, this 996 comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, supple leather seats, Exclusive stainless steel exhausts pipes, and 18” Sport Techno wheels. Since acquiring the car about 10 years ago, the seller has amassed a collection of service records including an IMS bearing upgrade, new clutch, and flywheel at 57k miles, as well as a new battery, brake pads, and rotors all within the last year. This well-maintained and nicely appointed 2003 example is now being offered for auction by its third owner out of New York with approximately 71k miles showing on the odometer, accompanied by the original books, tools, and window sticker.
This 996 is finished in Basalt Black Metallic and features Turbo-style bumpers, wide fenders, and a model-specific reflector band between the taillights. The seller notes some minor scratches and road-going wear on the front bumper as well as some curb rash on the wheels, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. Factory Exclusive options include stainless steel exhaust pipes and 18” Sport Techno wheels that come dressed in brand new Sumitomo HTR Z5 Ultra-High-Performance summer tires.
The cabin has been generously configured with Graphite Grey full leather upholstery including supple leather front and rear seats. Other factory features include heated front seats, left seat lumbar support, and self-dimming mirrors with a rain sensor. Some normal signs of wear are noted on the driver's seat bolster as well as minor scratches on the center console and a crack on the handbrake cover. All instrumentation and accessories are said to be fully functional, and the seller notes the oil pressure gauge sender switch to have been recently replaced.
The naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine features VarioCam Plus variable intake timing and was factory rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 4.8 seconds. Compared with the standard Carrera 4, the 4S features a lower and more firmly tuned suspension as well as larger 4-piston monobloc brakes adopted from the Turbo model. Annual oil changes have been kept up to date by the current owner with additional service items including new brake pads and rotors at 54k miles, a new battery in May of 2020, and an upgraded LN Engineering IMS bearing at 57k miles along with the replacement of the clutch, flywheel, and rear main seal. A collection of records will accompany the sale documenting the last 10 years of the current ownership.
This sale will include a set of two keys, the original owner's books and window sticker, service records, toolkit, spare tire, jack, and a clean title. Well-equipped and properly cared for, this 6-speed Carrera 4S awaits its next owner.

Has this C4S sold? Did it have a reserve?
@Ashkany2222 I bought a car from Sacramento, CA last year and transported it to NY. I used Montway Auto Transport (find them online). First time I used them but they were very good. Delivered on time with no hassles. I used an enclosed carrier but they can do open too. Enclosed is about $500 more.
@Ashkany2222 Congrats on the 911! Fly out to NY and drive it back!
Thank you Winthrop10 and all. To be honest, this is the 1st time I bid online and not sure if I really wanted this car. Lol. Still a bit surprised and shocked. I don't even know what the process is! Shoot, I guess I own a porsche now. I hope its a good deal and a good car. Now I have to think about transporting it to San Diego/ Cali. Do you guys recommend any carrier that is budget friendly?
Congratulations Ashkany2222. You bought yourself a nice 996. Good Luck! Take good care of it.
Thank you to all the bidders..
Congrats & Enjoy.
@BReif61 yes. Agreed.
Great pickup Ashkany!
Sold for $32,750
Me too, rarsenault. This is also an interesting test balloon for the white C4S closing tomorrow.

@draab29 I have done 3 DE events with PCA - twice at Watkins Glen and once at NJMP. I never pushed it to the limit. The car performed GREAT!
@Lobo The console is painted plastic and scratches during normal usage. Some of the scratches are from the seat belt buckle scraping on the console when the passenger seat is adjusted. I know some 996 & 997 owners have removed the console and repainted it.
Very Nice C4S! Amazing how well the 996 has aged.
Has this car been on the track? Noticed the fire extinguisher and the track stickers on the rear quarter window

@Hollywoodrat1 There is absolutely no rust on the vehicle. Since I’ve owned the car (10 years) it has been properly winterized and stored with a trickle charger in my garage each winter. It has never been in snow or driven on salted or sanded roads.
Does the car show any rust from being on the East Coast any of the paint or door jams or window frames frames
@AmeliaIslander Thanks for your interest. I wish I could give you more detail on what it all means but the report is 18 pages and it seems that every sensor in the car is listed. The service associate at Gold Coast Porsche may be able to help explain it or give you someone who can. He is Mark Bennett. The dealer’s number’s number is on the invoice.
Bid in the amount of $18,000
@Winthrop10 - thanks for going through the trouble & expense of getting a report. Could you clarify: the first pic lists some fault codes for alarm system. instrument cluster, etc and Porsche Gold Coast says there are no stored codes in the system. Any clarification would be appreciated.

to set it up for tomorrow, coming back from NJMP.
@CaymanKarDUDE Today I won’t be available until later this afternoon, maybe 5pm. Tomorrow, I’m free most of the day.
@Winthrop10 Can you show it today, I'm in Manhattan. Short drive.
Yes. The 4S insignias can be revoked with a heat gun or hair dryer. The were sourced directly from Porsche.
@Winthrop10 - are the "4S" insignia on the front fenders removeable? Thanks.
Three new photos and 1 video will be going up on the PCARMARKET auction site shortly. One photo and the video shows the instrument panel with the car running and fully warmed up, as requested by @AmeliaIslander. No warning lights are illuminated. Regarding the DME report originally requested by @MrBurns, I took the car to PORSCHE Gold Coast dealership, Jericho, NY today. After running a FULL DIAGNOSTIC REPORT (for $510) the Service Manager informed me that for the 2003 model year, an over-rev report is only available for the Turbo model, not the C4S or lower models. If you look at the Dealer’s invoice, you’ll see it states: “DME OVER REV RANGE REPORT NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS MODEL YEAR NON TURBO VEHICLES. VEHICLE DOES CHECK OUT TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE THOUGH. NO CYLINDER MISFIRES OR STORED CODES IN SYSTEM.” I have a copy of the the full diagnostic report (18 pages) which the winning bidder will receive for his/her records.
Regarding @AmeliaIslander’s question about the ride, I’ve never driven in a C2 but I find the ride quality of the C4S to be quite comfortable on long drives. I’ve driven this car with my wife on several round trips of 300+ miles and she’s never complained that the ride is too harsh. And you all know how well the C4S handles or you wouldn’t be interested in the car.
This is a REALLY NICE car that I’ve enjoyed for over 10 years. I purchased a 2013 C4S with PDK last year and kept the 2003 because I love the 6-speed and didn’t want to give it up. But I’m not using it very often and decided it should have a good home and an owner who will drive it regularly. I’m happy to answer any other questions about the car. Good luck to all the bidders.
@Winthrop10 - thanks. Looking forward to the pic and report.
I expect to have the DME report today as well as a photo of the instrument panel with the engine running showing no warning lights.
@MrBurns Did you receive the DME report?
The IMS bearing was upgraded with LN Engineering Pro RetroFit at 57k miles along with the replacement of the clutch, flywheel, and rear main seal.
IMS bearing replacement?
Bid in the amount of $11,250
@Winthrop10 Please provide a DME report.
Thanks to all for your bids and comments so far. I’ve been out of town for the past few days, returning tomorrow and I’m happy to answer any questions and post photos and/or videos as requested. Please check back over the next couple days.
@BLACKWATER - thanks for your comment. If you've driven any C2 996 how would you compare the "stiffness" of the C4 suspension with the C2 (on roads. not the track)?
@Winthrop10 - if you could upload a pic (or a video) similar to your pic#84 but with the motor fully warmed up and running I would appreciate it. Thanks.
I grabbed one of these C4S' over two years and have been tremendously satisfied with it. Surely enough power to get anyone in trouble, yet all the looks with the TT wide-body, and the same suspension, brakes yet costing one about $20-$40K less. They continue to appreciate, especially these coupes with six speeds. I have found it almost difficult to break loose in a tight turn; it just hugs the road unbelievably.
