The ultimate 911 of its time, the second-generation GT2 was based on the 996 Turbo and features a more powerful twin-turbocharged Mezger engine sending power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission along with enhanced aerodynamic bodywork, carbon ceramic brakes (PCCB), and track-focused suspension. This 2003 example is one of just over 300 examples reportedly sold in the United States and is said to have remained under the care of the same family prior to the seller’s recent acquisition. The car is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior featuring Exclusive aluminum trim options, Porsche crested headrests, and a three-spoke steering wheel in carbon fiber. It has also been upgraded with a Tubi exhaust system and Champion Motorsport intercoolers. Showing approximately 13k miles on the odometer, this rare 996 GT2 is now being offered for auction out of Florida.

Adapted from the contemporary 911 Turbo, the GT2’s bodywork features a modified nose section with reshaped air intakes, a larger lip spoiler, and additional vent slits as well as a large manually adjustable spoiler on the engine lid. This GT2 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and wears a removable black vinyl wrap on the rear wing. The seller notes the mirrors have been refinished, and the front spoiler lip and side skirts are painted to match the exterior. The car rides on factory 18” Turbo monobloc wheels are dressed in Michelin tires (05/21) that were mounted within the last 300 miles. Some stone chips are noted on the front bumper and hood as well as a scratch on the passenger side near the rear wheel. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing front-end damage sustained from an accident in 2004.

The cabin is trimmed in Black leather with a matching Alcantara headliner and adjustable Sport Seats featuring optional Porsche-crested headrests. Other options include a three-spoke steering wheel in leather and carbon fiber as well as the Aluminum Look Interior Package, a rear center console in Aluminum Look, and aluminum instrument dials. The car also features an aluminum-trimmed gear knob, an aluminum “GT2” inlay on the handbrake lever, automatic climate control, a central locking system, a heated rear window, cruise control, and a sound system paired with an original Porsche CDR23 radio.

The 996 GT2’s 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine was borrowed from the 911 Turbo and upgraded by the factory with larger K24 turbochargers and intercoolers along with a revised air intake, exhaust system, and ECU programming for an output of 456 HP and 457 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential while stopping power is derived from a Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system. The suspension is 20mm lower than that of the 911 Turbo and comes equipped with adjustable components as well as stiffer springs and dampers. The seller notes an upgraded Tubi exhaust system has been installed along with Champion Motorsports intercoolers and upgraded differential covers. The CARFAX report shows a brake fluid flush carried out along with the installation of new spark plugs in 2017 at 12,834 miles, and the seller states the car was most recently serviced in May 2022.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, some records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: Thank you for visiting my auction. This car has been in the same household for 20 years. All maintenance is up to date and has been serviced in May of 2022. Brand new tires. The car has been kept in a garage the entire time and driven under the best conditions. Car is in pristine condition.”

Me too, and that reflects the last two months market softness. It will surprise me if they get much more affordable.

@Mccheez that would be a very good deal IMO for the buyer.

Hi, I am owner and am here to answer any questions. Thanks for bidding.

  • pashab (seller) 9 months, 4 weeksago

@navchak 1. The car spun out at aprox 45mph and flew into a wired fence. There was no hard impact since the wired fence absorbed the collision. Front bumper and hood were damaged.
    2. No cats. Car was tuned in FL in 2011. Cats and original rims are not with owner and were given away.
    3. There is noticeable difference. The car is much more responsive, as soon as you touch throttle, you feel the difference/ power. Noticeable difference from when it was stock.
    4. Will add whatever service records I have. Car was serviced in 2011 and again in 2021.
    5. Yes, car was sold between family members. Car was bought in FL, moved to PA, then back to FL. Has been kept in climate controlled garage for its entirety.

  • navchak (registered bidder) 10 monthsago

    A few questions:
    1. Any additional information about the accident? Did it hit a pole, guardrail? Any invoices from those repairs?
    2. Do you still have the cats available? Can they be fitted back for CA emissions?
    2. Is there a noticeable power difference due to the new intercoolers?
    4. Any service records other than those shown?
    5. Was it sold between family members during the move from Pennsylvania to Florida?

    Thanks in advance!
