One of the rarest versions of Porsche's original water-cooled 911, the 996 Targa features a unique sliding glass roof system and was the last 911 Targa model to be offered in rear-wheel-drive configuration. This 2003 example comes finished in Black over a matching leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission, 18” Light Alloy Carrera wheels, Porsche Stability Management, a HiFi Sound system, and heated front seats. This Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Indiana showing approximately 73k miles on the odometer.

This Targa is finished in Black and rides on a set of factory-optional Light Alloy Carrera wheels dressed in Continental Extreme Contact tires. The roof is comprised of triple-layer laminated safety glass including a narrow front deflector strip, a sliding canopy, and a rear hatch that opens to provide access to the storage area. The seller describes this 996 to have been well preserved with the exception of two minor dents. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior includes automatic climate control, power accessories, heated front seats, the HiFi Sound System, and a retractable sunshade. The seller notes minor signs of wear on the driver seat bolster and the ashtray lid fails to click shut.

This 996 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine capable of producing up to 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 177 MPH. A total of 12 service history records are shown on the CARFAX report dating back to the initial delivery in December 2002. Additionally, a maintenance book with records from 2003, 2006, and 2007 is provided in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Woodrm64 No records so we assume it hasn't been done. We have no concerns based off oil condition and general running/driving condition, but our recommendation would be to have it done, and reserve is set accordingly. :)

Anyone is also welcome to come by and check it out in person, or schedule a Facetime to go over it.

    Thanks!

I do not see anything about a replacement intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing. Has this been done?
