Available for auction is this 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo Coupe finished in Speed Yellow over a black full leather interior.  Sharing its DNA with the Le Mans-winning 911 GT1 race car, this 996 Turbo is equipped with a coveted 3.6L Mezger flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.  Sold new in Massachusetts, this Turbo has remained with its second owner in California since 2006 and came factory optioned with Sport Seats, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, seatbelts in Speed Yellow, and exclusive carbon fiber trim pieces.  Well maintained while showing approximately 23k miles on the odometer, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This 996 comes finished in the unmistakable Porsche color of Speed Yellow and features wide fenders, side air intakes, red-painted brake calipers, and a speed-activated rear spoiler.  Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The factory 18” Turbo wheels come fitted with optional colored Porsche center caps and a set of Pirelli P Zero tires dated from 2015.

Inside, you will find a black full leather interior with an Alcantara headliner, optional Sport Seats, seatbelts in Speed Yellow, and a three-spoke leather steering wheel as well as aluminum and carbon fiber trim for the shifter and handbrake lever.  Other options include heated front seats, Porsche Communication Management II (PCM 2), and a remote 6-disc CD changer.  The Bose Surround Sound System and automatic climate control are included as standard. The interior is described to be in excellent condition with only minor creasing on the lower driver seat bolster.

One of the most celebrated Porsche engine designs of all, the 3.6L twin-turbocharged Mezger flat-six generates up to 415 HP and drives all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission.  The CARFAX report shows routine maintenance to have been carried out by Newport Auto Center Inc. since 2006 and the seller notes the car has been meticulously cared for with extensive service documentation accompanying the sale.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, toolkit, jack, spare tire, and a clean title. No Porsche collection is complete without a 996 Turbo, and this Speed Yellow 2003 example is among the finest available.

Congratulations to the buyer. Car is worth more but I’m happy for you. The car is in better condition than the recent BAT yellow car that sold plus it has highly desirable sport seats and no ugly supple leather. You will be amazed and pleased how excellent this car really is. Well bought.

furthermore, anyone who has experience in this arena knows that 993 and 996 models don't wear well in the leather dept. If the seat is that much of a bother, replace it. The cost is in consequential when dealing with a $80k car. This seller has nice stuff, I don't know him but his track record on PCAR is pretty impressive

  • brandywine (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@captgiddyup it must be said, asking for a video in the final minutes is one of the Most inconsiderate things you could do to a seller. The car has been here for 7 days, you had plenty of time

  • captgiddyup (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

teescott asked a profoundly good question and zzwillin makes a “non biased” defense of momotime driver’s seat? “Because he didn’t smooth out the seat. Can you post another photo of the driver seat upon being smoothed out? Has the 996 been repainted?

The over rev report has just been completed by E-Motion Engineering and there are no over revs and the tech states "clean as a whistle" The results will be sent to Pcarmarket so they can post on the site. Hopefully this information puts all bidders at ease and can bid with confidence.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@Maxoverdrive yes absolutely no problem as long as the car reaches it reserve.

@teescott thanks and yes over time all seats will wear slightly but the condition of the seats left and right is excellent as is the rest of the car. I have stated this before this car is A++ excellent and needs nothing. I am sure it would be a candidate for any concours event and mechanically it is also A+ excellent.

  • teescott (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@momotime Thanks for your reply. I should not have used the word worn in my previous comment, as the seats do not look worn. The center sections always stretch some over time, and the back of the outside driver bolster has some slack in the material. All leather will stretch over time on a seat. The weight of the driver is a big factor. Please don't mis-interpret my comment, you have a very nice vehicle, and I hope your auction is a success.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@teescott see zzwillin non biased knowledgeable reply. The seat is not overly wrinkled, saggy or faded whatsoever. It is exactly as a 22,000 mile leather seat will be with careful ingress and egress.

  • zzwillin 2 years, 3 monthsago

@teescott because he didn’t smooth out the seat. Car looks great… good luck with the sale. Who would have thought … a 996 I’d like to own ?

  • teescott (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@momotime Can you comment on why the the driver seat is so worn and sagging on such a low mileage car. It just doesn't match the condition of the rest of the vehicle

@Garfield I just sent a video to be posted to Pcarmarket. This video was just taken and the car has been parked in this position for over a week. No leaks whatsoever. This car has no mechanical or cosmetic issues whatsoever. The car is in immaculate condition needing nothing.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@viavaquero two keys. Absolutely no leaks whatsoever anywhere. Spoiler operates perfectly.

  • viavaquero (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Very Nice Turbo. Does everything work on the Turbo as it should? Does the rear wing show any signs of leakage? Does the rear wing go up and down as it should, both manually and automatically at certain speeds? Is there only ONE key that comes with the turbo? Thank you

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@Garfield thanks for your confidence in the car and me! I will still go over to check and get back to Pcarmarket immediately. I want any and all bidders to be 100% comfortable about the quality of the car.

  • Garfield (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@momotime You know I didn't think so and was not going to say anything - but i got edgy thinking about it. I believe you. No problem. Thanks.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@Garfield the car was washed just prior to the photos and this car DOES NOT LEAK ANY LIQUIDS WHATSOEVER.. I will go over today and show you the floor after I move the car. It has been in the current place for a week so if there are any leaks you and I will be the first to see them. Good eyes by the way!! I fully understand your concern and I will have Pcarmarket post the todays pics. Any other questions or concerns please let me know. hope this will ease any further concerns.

  • Garfield (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

In pic 157, 158, 159, 161,162 there appears to be something on the floor towards the front of the car. In 161,162 it appears it may be a piece of paper or something. However, in 157-159 it looks wet. can the Seller please explain.

@momotime This is a total hack, but is a good way to get undercarriage images without a lift.

    1. Attach a rope to a piece of cardboard (duct tape works).
    2. Place the cardboard at the front of your car with the rope extended along the length of the car out the back.
    3. Start your phone video recording and place the phone face down (camera up) on the cardboard.
    4. Gently and steadily pull the rope until the phone has traversed the full length of the car.

Assuming you have a fairly recent phone with decent low-light camera performance, you'll have a video that does a pretty good job of showing the condition of the undercarriage. You may need to do two runs if the field of view isn't wide enough.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Also please view the recent videos and you will see the condition of the front spoiler and also the view of the front undercarriage with no scrapings.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Tangerine997- I can ask but the owner of the shop is doing me a huge favor just letting me in for the quick DME report because he is overwhelmed with business. Hopefully he will have the time to put it on the lift and yes I will be glad to take pics. I can also go over to my facility and take pictures of it as best I can with the car not on a lift? I am sure the undercarriage is as beautiful as the rest of the car but I appreciate your request.

  • Tangerine997 (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@momotime Maybe when you are getting the DME report they can put it on a lift and you can take some pix of the full undercarriage which would be nice to see.
    Thanks.

  • momotime (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

I have a appointment Monday a.m. at E-Motion Motorsports to get the DME readout. I am sure the report will be A++ as is the rest of the car.

  • rbrunson (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Can you provide a DME report?
Would you allow a PPI from local Porsche dealer as condition of sale?
