Now up for auction is this 2003 Porsche 986 Boxster S finished in Speed Yellow over a Savanna Beige interior. Introduced in late 1996 as Porsche’s premier mid-engine roadster, the Boxster has earned recognition among enthusiasts for its agile and responsive driving characteristics. This 2003 example had spent its life in California before being acquired by the current owner in 2020. Featuring an upgraded IMS bearing as well as a 6-speed manual transmission connected to a 3.2L flat-six engine, this Boxster S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut with just over 40k miles showing on the odometer.
This 986 is finished in Speed Yellow (L12H) and features an automatically deploying rear spoiler, a power-retractable black soft top, and a color-matched removable hardtop. The seller describes the finish to be in excellent overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The 17″ wheels are fitted with optional colored Porsche crest center caps and come dressed in Sumitomo HTR ZII tires.
The cabin is trimmed in Savanna Beige partial leather with amenities including 8-way power-adjustable seats, a wind deflector, cruise control, automatic climate control, CD compartment, and a factory sound system. The seller confirms all accessories and instrumentation to be fully functional.
This Boxster S carries a mid-mounted 3.2L flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This naturally aspirated power plant sends as much as 258 HP and 229 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Porsche Stability Management was equipped from the factory, and stopping power is handled by fixed 4-piston red-painted brake calipers with cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The CARFAX report shows service history dating back as far as 2004, and the seller states that an upgraded IMS bearing has been installed.
This sale will include a Porsche CPO window sticker and welcome packet, owner's manuals, a set of two keys, a painted removable hardtop, spare tire, and a clean title. With its low miles, 6-speed manual transmission, and rare color combination, this Boxster S is a perfect choice for any discerning driver in search of a Porsche 986.

@LSB_Roady thanks i think it was a fair price considering the covid market -prices keep rising
I'm not an aficionado on 986 prices (nor Porsche in general), but that seems cheap to me given the color, IMS fix, options and mileage. Looks like a great buy

No built-in heated seats in this Boxster S!
Does it have Heated Seats?
Bid in the amount of $19,000
@mineralfarmer we can do couple of weeks if needed (say November/early December)
@Lili05, just curious as to how long you could hold it pending arrangements for pickup or delivery?
Yep, the hard top is really a bonus .
Yo, Champ, no question that this is worth the stretch, and I would certainly go for it were it not for the fact that $17K is all that I can bust loose right now in the middle of another far more serious financial transaction.
That and the fact that I'm flat out of garage space . I will NOT park this beauty outdoors!
Right car; bad timing.
@WRENCH.56 Don’t give up that easily. Somethings are worth a little effort. This color and Combo are clearly worth the stretch. Many of us shoot just short of what we want and this is pretty inexpensive for a thrilling and gorgeous Porsche. Go for it!!!!
How could I forget! The top is a huge plus, also!
They would cost you 3K, if you can find one!
I just purchased a 2003 Boxster S, Silver with Red interior. Really sweet car! Such fun to drive! Speed yellow was my first choice. Beautiful car! GLWS!
What a plus that the IMS and clutch have been done!
@WRENCH.56 thanks for the nice comment. We hope you'll find the right one for you
I was just winding up for a $17,000 pitch when DMM9510 took me right out of the game!
He or she clearly wants this beautiful and very desirable car even more than do I.
I hope you win it and enjoy it to the max. Please drive it and don't be tempted to make it a garage queen.

@DMM9510 and thanks for the comment on the color. Our family has owned 3 'standard' colors 911s. The Boxster was the exception to usual conservative choices and did not disappoint. Our next Porsche (in a very distant future) will definitely be a fun color again. Once you tried it, it's difficult to go back.

@DMM9510 @DMM9510, good morning
The reason of the sale is motivated by a change in the family household (requiring more space) and recent and frequent trips to Canada (AWD SUV turned to be more appropriate).
1,000 miles trip with it? Don't tempt me! I would do it in a heartbeat if I could find the time, with confidence.
Great car. Love the color. Why selling after only having for a bit over 1 year? Any reason you would not take it on a 1000 mile trip?
Bid in the amount of $12,750
@mhs244 sure do, I will provide all paperwork & invoices for the IMS , seals and clutch.
So you have the paperwork related to IMS change work?
@jmitro Good morning,
This is the stock exhaust, discrete at low RPM and really pleasant when you rev up on the back roads. The paint is original and shows up great for an 18 years old car, despite not having paint protection.
Beautiful car, love the speed yellow! Is it a stock or aftermarket exhaust? does the car have any paint protection film?
@msa615 please feel free to send me a direct message and we can arrange it. Thank you!
@Bigbee tires were replaced in May 2019, low mileage since then, they look very good!
I will look for the tread depth tonight :)
I live in Ct Would it be possible to come see the car prior to the conclusion of the auction? Thxs
Can you provide date codes and tread depth on the tires? Thanks.
@Azguy238 Air Conditioning and Heating work perfectly; you can control both manually & the car also has an “auto” adjustment option based on your temperature setting preferences.
@Lili05 How is the Air conditioning?

@msa615 ACG Tuning/Automotive concepts in Stratford CT.
He is a Porsche owner, race driver and talented mechanic (AMG, Lamborghini...).
Who did the ims + service thxs
@msa615 It is a CT title, all clear.
@msa615 Good afternoon,
The garage replaced the clutch alongside of the IMS bearing and the Rear main seal. Neither really needed it but we followed his recommendation.
The oil and filter service was done at the same time, late August 2021, less than 1,000 miles ago.
Is it a ct title
Was anything thing else done at the time ims completed
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Would look nice next to my 36k Speed Yellow 2006 Cayman S…hmmm…
