Available for auction is this 2004 Land Rover L322 Range Rover HSE finished in Chawton White over a Charcoal and Jet leather interior. The third-generation Range Rover was developed with the help of BMW and went on to see an 11-year production run from 2001 through 2012. This 2004 example was acquired by the seller in October of 2022 and has since been treated to a host of services including a fully refreshed front suspension, new timing components, various gaskets, refurbished interior and exterior trim, and much more. It comes equipped with an electronic center differential, a sunroof, heated front and rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a Harmon Kardon sound system. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas while showing just under 114k miles on its odometer.
This Range Rover comes finished in the seldom-seen color of Chawton White and features bi-xenon headlights with washers, fog lights, a rear window wiper, and parking sensors. The seller notes that the front and rear bumpers show minor imperfections and has provided a collection of detailed images which can be found in the gallery. The CARFAX indicates an accident occurred in August of 2022, resulting in minor damage to the front passenger side and the seller adds that no paint work or repairs were necessary. Under current ownership, the hood and rear hatch struts have been replaced along with the front windshield trim, the glass for both auto-dimming side mirrors, and the contact switches for the auto-folding mirrors. This Range Rover rides on a set of 19″ six-spoke alloy wheels which come dressed in Continental tires.
Inside, the seating surfaces are upholstered in Charcoal leather with Jet piping along with the door panels and lower dashboard. Walnut wood accents the dashboard, door panels, and center console, while black carpets line the floors. The seller notes that the cabin remains in great overall condition for its age, and adds that all silver interior trim has been either replaced or refurbished in order to address peeling, the door panels have been refurbished for cosmetic purposes, and the center console struts have been replaced. Amenities include heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, a 570-watt 15-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more.
Power comes from a BMW M62 4.4-liter V8 engine which produces up to 282 HP and 325 lb-ft of torque. All four wheels are driven by way of a ZF 5HP24 5-speed automatic transmission along with a two-speed transfer case and an electronic locking center differential. The L322 Range Rover comes equipped with four-wheel independent suspension with adjustable air springs and Hill Descent Control. The CARFAX includes 11 service history entries dating back as far as 2011, and under current ownership, extensive service has been carried out including a full front suspension refresh, new air springs along with a refurbished air compressor, new timing components, and timing cover, valve cover, VANOS, and oil pan gaskets.
This sale will include the owner’s literature, a window sticker, navigation CDs, OEM rubber floor mats, and a clean title.

All, just around 27 hours left. If you look around for early L322s you will see that they all go for around $7-$12k depending on mileage. This example comes with recent service on a number of large ticket items and is ready for the new owner.

Thank you for posting the video of leveling suspension, cup holder and stereo. Can you please post a video of start up walk about with the motor on. Would also like to see instrument cluster while on and drinving would be helpful for.

Answer:
This is not a flip but I don't have space for this and another Touareg. You can believe me or not. This vehicle was not torn up and had a solid history in my opinion, few owners with relatively low mileage driven among them. I would consider owner 2 to be the first owner as the timing difference between owner 1 and 2 on the Carfax is minimal and the first owner seems to have been a "Corporate" registration for a few months.

You said that you "would" drive the car back to Orlando again under your ownership but didn't confirm you would drive it to Miami for $1 a mile if i did win the auction. That is a distinction I would like you to clarify.
I bought the car from a private seller. I did not say I would drive the car back to Orlando. If you read my response I said I recently took the car on a trip to Orlando and would have no problem driving it to Miami. I hope that clarifies it.

Answer:
Working on this Range Rover has actually been easier than working on the Touaregs I've owned in the past. That's been my experience. I don't claim to be an expert with either cars but just a car enthusiast with general knowledge of cars across brands. Touareg's also seem to be neglected more often than Range Rovers which I attribute to a complex luxury vehicle wearing a budget (VW) badge.

This car doesn't have that particular problem or else it wouldn't start. If you are concerned that's where due diligence on the buyers side comes in. I did do some research for you in the meantime. @Boatpix Hey Boatpix, let me take your questions one at a time.
Based on my research if the ECU for the steering column lock fails the car won't start; my Range Rover starts perfectly every single day and therefore there is no issue to my knowledge with the steering column lock. There are also multiple videos with hacks online how to get around the issue if the issue were ever to happen.
I ordered the timing components from FCP Euro and had a friend, who is currently a Mercedes master tech and used to be a BMW tech back in the early 2000s install them. I'll dig up the receipt and post it. The VANOS seals were replaced, I'll post a picture of the VANOS seal receipt too for your if you want it.
Chawton White looks like your typical white but seems to be treated a bit like an exotic color on the L322 by the LR community as it was common on the Defender but rare on the L322. It gives the L322 a bit more of a family relationship to the Defender in the mind of the LR enthusiast I suppose.
I just did family round trip in this car from San Antonio to Orlando not too long ago with zero issues and would have no problem driving this car to Miami.
I highlighted in my first post why I bought it, why I did all the maintenance and why I'm selling. I wanted this to be another Overland build like my prior Touareg but it's too nice of a car to hack up. I rather get another torn up Touareg and turn that into another Overland build.
Can the "seller "address the steering column ecu lock and can "signalMTB" that mentioned it find the "fellow on eBay who specializes in rebuilding the ECU" and post it here? A neighbor had one of these new and it was not pleasant for him as he laughed at me for having a Lexus SUV. "signalMTB" said "It's not a tough job but price tags for a complete repair often get close to the value of the car." It would be nice to know the cost of that repair regardless as we all know murphy's law in that it will fail on the drive home. I'm an immediate buyer for a 2006 to 2009 version of this with the supercharged 4.2 liter Jaguar engine as I understand it to be reliable (but laughable to me because i just spent $7K on an engine swap of the predecessor 4.0 liter naturally aspirated engine in an xk8 coupe that i paid $2500 for). The later supercharged engine has about 20 percent more horsepower and torque and completely reliable. This BMW powered one caught my eye but could the seller address exactly what "a friend of mine take care of the timing components" means with a parts list or a receipt or something. It was listed with a "refurbished...VANOS" and is there a receipt for that? I know the BMW guys will dismiss that failure rate of some dreaded components as the price the enthusiast pays for the "ultimate driving machine" but this engine with 282 HP and 325 Foot Pounds of Torque versus 390HP & 410 Foot Pounds of Torque in the more reliable supercharged motor from 2006-2009 is my comparo. Also is "Chawton White" like something the original owner paid extra for like when you pay $30K to Ferrari for special paint that usually looks like a Chevrolet color to me? As I live in South Florida and regularly visit Texas and Southern California is this "Chawton" any different than all the "white" ones I see for sale South of Interstate 10 that runs from Los Angeles to Jacksonville, Florida. As the seller has had it about 90 days I'm curious who he bought it from and whether he has the confidence in it do deliver it for $1 a mile to Miami because I said I am an immediate buyer but a wary one (1362 miles).
I also have brand new front disks and pads that will come with the sale. I bought them to replace the disc and pads during the suspension refresh but the current disks and pads were still in great shape. I also have a OEM Land Rover roof rack that will be included as well.
@signalMTB - It was in production in late 2001 as Europe got the L322 for the 2002 model year while the US market didn't see the L322 until the 2003 model year.
Slight correction callout to the ad ... the 3rd generation Range Rovers ran from '03 - '12. Other than the usuals called out by the seller (namely the normal air suspension wear parts), biggest issue with these trucks are the steering column ECU lock ... parts are NLA and used to be a fellow on eBay who specialized in rebuilding the ECU. Used him several times in older L322's I've owned. It's not a tough job but price tags for a complete repair often get close to the value of the car. These are the last attractive/desirable modern classic design for the RR. GLWS

Welcome to the auction for my 2004 Range Rover HSE in Chawton White. I purchased this Range Rover in October of last year with the intention of doing and Overland build similar to my prior Touareg TDI. This Range Rover was a solid well taken care of example, but I still took care of some of the L322 weak points. Preparing it for the ultimate build I rebuilt the entire front suspension (all control arms, bushings, ball joints, air springs), I rebuilt the air compressor. I had a friend of mine take care of the timing components and also replaced all hood and hatch struts. I also replaced all wiper blades (front, rear, and headlight wipers).
After doing all the work I realized this Range Rover especially in Chawton White was too nice to tear into for an Overland build now. The early BMW powered L322s are also getting harder to find in good condition so I decided to sell this one to a fellow enthusiast and getting a another torn up Touareg.
