Under the BMW Group’s ownership, Mini was relaunched in 2000 and brought a modern interpretation of the classic Mini Cooper hatchback to market. Finished in Dark Silver Metallic over a two-tone Space Grey and Panther Black cloth interior, this 2004 Cooper S was the high-performance model and offered a hood scoop, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and is powered by a supercharged inline-four paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This R53 was acquired by the seller on PCARMARKET in 2021 and retains its modifications including a Megan Racing coilover suspension, a 15% supercharger pulley kit, a Milltek exhaust system, DDMWorks intake, and more. This Mini is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida with just under 87k miles on the odometer.

The R53 generation Mini Cooper was designed by Frank Stephenson, also responsible for penning the Maserati MC12, Ferrari F430, first-generation BMW X5, and McLaren’s MP4-12C, P1, and 675LT supercars. This Cooper S is finished in Dark Silver Metallic with a contrasting white roof panel. The seller adds that the rearview mirrors have been painted red. The optional Sport Package adds front fog lamps, a rear spoiler, and 17” Mini R90 cross-spoke wheels with 15mm spacers, extended bolts, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires from early 2021. The seller notes very minor scratches and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin features two-tone Space Grey and Panther Black cloth upholstered sport seats accented by a painted dashboard with a central speedometer. The Premium Package adds a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, and an onboard computer. Aftermarket leather shifter and handbrake boots have been installed and the seller states that the headliner could be reattached. The seller adds that all-weather floor mats have also been fitted.

This Mini is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 1.6L Tritec inline four-cylinder engine, producing up to 160 HP and 150 lb.-ft of torque from the factory. The front wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission and factory equipment includes Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). Engine upgrades include a 15% pulley kit from Way Motor Works, a Milltek non-resonated cat-back exhaust system, DDMWorks intake, and Vibra-Technics engine mounts. Additional upgrades include Powerflex control arm bushings and ball joints, Megan Racing rear camber links, Megan Racing coilovers, StopTech street brake pads, slotted rotors, a Way Motor Works 25mm hollow rear sway bar, and a Canton Racing aluminum expansion tank. The CARFAX report shows services dating back to 2004 and the seller notes that under their ownership they have replaced the blow-off valve with a Detroit Tuned valve, replaced the in-tank fuel filter, valve cover gaskets and bolts, the oil pan gasket, crankshaft sensor “O” ring, and both front wheel bearing hubs. Additional maintenance reported by the seller includes balancing and rotating the tires and installing a new battery.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, extensive documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This 2004 was purchased from the original owner in 2021 and has been upgraded with a Megan Racing coilover suspension, 15% supercharger pulley kit, a Millitek exhaust system, DDMWorks intake, 15mm wheel spacers, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, Defender Strut Tower kit, Detroit Speed blow-off valve, and Vibra-Technics engine mounts. Also, Powerflex control arm bushings & ball joints, Megan racing rear camber links, StopTech street brake pads and slotted rotors, a Way Motor Works 25mm hollow rear sway bar as well as a Canton Racing aluminum expansion tank. Upgraded oil dipstick... A well-loved, well-sorted enthusiast Mini Cooper S, always garaged, great daily driver....No disappointments here!”

@nobrakes Thanks for your taking a look and comments.
I agree with all you said, this 1st generation are a terrific value and great fun to drive. No dash lights up here, all working just fine. Also, the mods on this one really make it a special drive every time, very well sorted and complimentary mods.
The new owner will be very happy!
    Happy Thanksgiving & Holidays

I recently bought an '05 Cooper S with 75k miles. Despite the numerous dash lights (thanks to all that BMW DNA) it runs like a scalded rat. Love the list of mods here and will take note as I make improvements without sacrificing drivability. I believe these Gen 1 modern Minis are emerging classics that have seen the very bottom of their deprecation curve. GLWTS
