Anniversary models have always had a special place in Porsche history.  The Porsche 40th Anniversary year was 2004, which happened to fall during the final production year of the 996 model.  As a result, Porsche decided to build a very special car to celebrate this milestone.

The car being auctioned is undoubtedly an excellent example of this special anniversary model. Number 583/1963 has traveled just 35k miles since new and has been cared for at an extremely high level throughout its life.  The original owner purchased the car from Father and Sons Porsche in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The current owner/seller, acquired the car from the from the original owner 11 years ago and added around 28k of the 35k miles shown. The owner states the car was carefully driven throughout his ownership.

The 40th Anniversary 996 was filled with unique features and style cues that separate it from the rest of the 996 line up.  For instance, each car received a build number and was finished in GT Silver (first used on the Carrera GT of the same year).  The body itself offered special enhancements such as the aero/GT3 rocker panels, Turbo front bumper with painted grills, special high-gloss wheel finish, and bespoke badging.  The 40th Anniversary is a standout among all 996 models ever produced and is quickly becoming a must have for celebrated collections around the world.  To further distinguish the 40th Anniversary as a collector edition vehicle,  a factory luggage set with was created and will be included with this sale.

As photos in the gallery show and the seller confirms, the original GT Silver Metallic paint is in exceptional condition. Paint protection film covering the front bumper, 1/2 hood, mirror, and fenders continue to keep this car in the condition you see today.  Adding to the impressive stance of this 40th Anniversary model are special 18” alloy wheels that are also in excellent condition and wear a set of brand-new Michelin Pilot Sport N3 tires.

The interior is also stated to be in excellent condition. The 40th Anniversary theme is carried throughout the interior with very nice design elements such as:  full special textured leather seats (X99), #583/1963 badge, GT Silver painted tunnel console, and more. When delivered new, this 911 carried an MSRP of over $96k. In addition to the long list of standard extras that come with the Anniversary model, this particular example has a Bose High End sound package, Power Comfort Seat Package, and a CD Changer.

The Anniversary car continues to deliver, this time in the form of performance thanks to the coveted X51 package.  This factory option included a 3.6L flat-six engine with cast aluminum GT3 intake manifold, larger headers, upgraded cam shafts, and modified cylinder heads, help the car achieve approximately 340HP, nearly 25HP over the standard model. A 6-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear wheels.

The seller states that  a service performed in May of 2019 included the following: a new clutch, IMS service, rear main seal, new alternator, new battery, and break fluid flush.

The sale will include all books, all service records under current ownership, a clean Carfax, 2 keys, and original factory luggage.

@Transcon I trust that meeting the seller will only add to your enjoyment. Top guy - straight-up honest, kind, and generous. The type of guy I’d like to stay in touch with after meeting him for only an hour and a half. Enjoy that car; it is really nice!!

Thanks, we are excited. Passed up on one a few years back and have regretted it ever since. One of the best driving Porsche's I've tried. She will be right at home in the garage next to her 3.2 Carrera older sibling

Well bought! I was so close to putting in a bid, but I think I’m settled on a 993.

Auction timing for this car puts me in a bind, but I am very interested. Perhaps it will go to the deal tank because I cannot see it being sold at the current bid of $22k.

My friend has one of these. Besides the GT3, this 996 truly rivals and possibly surpasses the drive of a 997 Carrera. Great sound, feel and driver feedback. X51 pkg is a big deal

This may prove to work against me, but I think it’s the right thing to do given what happened to the seller on the other site. I met the seller today and drove his car. Both are stellar. Based on the adage, “buy the seller,” anyone should buy with absolute confidence; what a tremendous guy and car. I’m still deciding whether I want an air cooled 911, a GT3, or this, but this car left an impression. Tick tick on my decision.
