Throughout 2003 and 2004, a special 996 Carrera was produced in a limited run of 1,963 examples to commemorate 40 years of the Porsche 911. Each 40th Anniversary Edition came finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Natural Leather interior and features the front fascia of the 911 Turbo along with a limited-slip differential, Sport Suspension, the X51 Power Kit, special polished wheels, and other unique details. One of the most collectible models of its generation, this 40th Anniversary Edition is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing approximately 26k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe is finished in GT Silver Metallic finish and rides on special 18” Carrera II lightweight polished wheels dressed in Sumitomo HTR Z III tires. It sports a front fascia from the Turbo, GT3-style flared rocker panels, polished exhaust tips, and a special "40 Jahre 911" designation on the rear decklid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

This 996 is appointed with a premium Natural Grey Leather interior accented by aluminum instrument bezels, a painted center console, an Alcantara headliner, door sills with “911” insignias, and a limitation plaque below the climate control panel engraved with the car’s individual production number. Other factory options include the Bose High-End Sound Package, a remote 6-disc CD changer, and power-operated Comfort Seats. The interior is described to be in good condition with all gauges and accessories working properly.

This 996 is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine that sends up to 345 HP to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. It comes equipped as standard with the exclusive X51 Power Kit which includes a valvetrain upgrade, cast-aluminum intake manifolds with a modified cross-section, and a remapped engine tune. It makes 25 HP more than the standard 996 Carrera and reaches 60 from a standstill in approximately 4.5 seconds. In addition to the upgraded powertrain, this special edition comes standard with Turbo radiators, a limited-slip differential, and Sport Suspension. The seller notes the IMS bearing was recently upgraded.

This sale will include a clean title.

Beauty with low miles!! rooting for @concho!

    GLWA!

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Userapatel I don't see any evidence of paint work or have any record of it. That said the meter shows that paint work has been done. I don't have any further info than that.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    @Decatur15 I don't have a way to do that.

  • Concho 1 year, 5 monthsago

  • Altongray 1 year, 5 monthsago

    @Decatur15 -- Type 996 only has ranges 1 and 2 on a DME. Ranges 1-6 would be shown with a 997.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@justinbsc thanks, any comment on the paint reading that was high on one of the panels? As far as the tires go gotta factor in a set change soon just based on age

  • Decatur15 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Any good Porsche mechanic or the dealer would have the more advanced scanner for the DME.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    @Userapatel I guess I don't know what that is?

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@justinbsc it's the dme report I was asking about.

  • PCARMARKET 1 year, 5 monthsago

A new video has been added to the listing page.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Decatur15 I'm not aware of how to get you that info. Would I need a Porsche scanner?

  • Concho 1 year, 5 monthsago

  • Decatur15 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

The run hours should be reasonable for the miles on the car.

  • Decatur15 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

The cars computer keeps history of the engines RPM ranges and hours the engine has been run. Need to plug the car into a more advance reader.
There is a scale 1 through 6. 1 and 2 are within normal operating range. 3 is ok. 4 and above the engine has been abused.

@Userapatel It ties into the stereo. It is attached with tape and can easily be removed. I am not avoiding any questions. I want you and all bidders to know exactly what you are bidding on. This is a very nice car.

@Userapatel I will do my best to get you a video of it running. I can assure you it runs and drives perfectly.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Decatur15 Yes I can issue a trip permit. You can fly directly to our San Luis Obispo airport.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@155MPH Easily removed without damage to the car.

  • Decatur15 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

If I were to fly in and drive home can a temporary plate be arranged without having to pay CA taxes and fees. Which would be the best airport to fly into?
    Thank you

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Userapatel From the reading I would assume it has had paint work on the passenger rear fender. I cant visually see any paint work but that is what the meter reads.

  • Concho 1 year, 5 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $35,000

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Decatur15 Yes the car is sold through my business and we are a CA dealer. If the car is going to be registered in CA taxes and fees will be charged. If the car is to be registered out of state we don't charge taxes or fees.

  • Decatur15 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    Hello
Will the sale be through a dealer? Is there a tax payment required in CA on a dealer sale?
    Thank you

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Sorry, got another question. Am I reading the tire date codes correctly, at they from 2014?

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Outside the request of paint explanation, dme and the phone set up a video of the car running would be nice. I realize the auction is coming to close but would help my bidding. I also realize it's a bit early in the west coast

  • Alc 1 year, 5 monthsago

  • Alc (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Looks to me like he went the Denison route (module in frunk) and it’s a simple plug and play adapter that uses original equipment. Obviously I can’t comment on the interior trim. Overall nice vehicle.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Same question on the phone parts, was it screwed in or taped? Tape would rip the sensitive coating off the trim is my guess.

Is it a stand alone system or did they tie it into the stereo?

Also the dme question seems to keep being avoided.

  • 155MPH (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

There appears to be a phone adapter of some sort added and a phone button attached to the lower left of the upper console. What is it, how easy to remove without damaging the plastics?

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@Orbit The car doesn't have any scratches or dings. Please take a good look at the photos and Carfax as they will answer all your questions.

  • Orbit (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    How many owners from new?
Are there any dings, scratches or blemishes on the exterior?
Are there any scratches or scrapes under the front or rear bumper covers?
Does the drivers seat, and/or interior show any wear? Thanks.

  • Userapatel (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Are you able to provide any paint meter readings? Do you have a dme?

  • skywalker27612 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@justinbsc I course correct. I have been digging to it as well and you are right.

  • justinbsc (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@skywalker27612 Other 40th Anniversary Porsche I see online are the same.

  • skywalker27612 (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@justinbsc re the vent question. If you look at the picture 16 the side vents are painted and the middle one is black. Thanks for answering other questions.

-I'm not seeing what you are seeing but I have uploaded additional photos that somehow didn't make it to the listing
-The IMS was replace on 1/7/22 by our sister shop. The invoice has been uploaded.

    Couple initial questions
    - Do you have the suitcases that came with the car to make the package complete?
    - I see couple vents in silver and on in black. Were just the couple vents painted or the middle one replaced and not painted?
    - Which IMS bearing was installed and when?
    Thx

  • luis.seneriz (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Yes this is a niece car. Now the most analog water cool porsche experience is a 99 Carrera 2 with the cable throttle, my car weights a bit over 2700 lbs, no cats, you even smell a bit of the raw fuel. You want fast, for a bit more than a 40th buy a mezger turbo. Put a few thousand dollars in mods and you have a 600 hp plus almost 200 mph super car with an indestructible engine,

  • marcromano 1 year, 6 monthsago

@galileo Yo - don't be disrespectful. Put another zero in your bid.

#0763 checking in. For those who have never experienced it, here’s some of what it’s like. 40AE is a classic 911 that keeps on appreciating. It’s mostly an analog experience which makes it more pure like a 993. To drive it is a joy. It’s responsive to an extreme, it’s light and it flies, and the M030 suspension is awesome. GT silver is the best silver I’ve seen including on a Ferrari. The flat six rumbles. When you get in it you feel like you’re a part of it. And when you get out, it’s like a beautiful woman walking by; you always have to look back when you’re walking away.
This is a gem and worthy of great care and big $$.

This would be a great car to have. The 40th Anniversary model would be a bonus. I have a 2003 C4 Cab and it’s the best 911 I have had among 4.
They are pretty much bullet proof if cared for properly. Good luck.
