The Porsche 911 40th Anniversary was produced to commemorate 40 years since the 911’s debut in 1963. A total of 1,963 units were produced, each was finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Natural leather interior and featured the 911 Turbo’s front fascia, a limited-slip differential, Sport Suspension, the X51 Power Kit, special polished wheels, and more. This example was acquired by the current owner in 2012 and received a new engine under their ownership at Porsche of the Village. This 996 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio while showing just over 13k miles on the odometer.

The 911 40th Anniversary is finished in GT Silver Metallic and features the 911 Turbo’s front fascia with painted air inlets as well as GT3-style rocker panels, polished dual exhaust outlets, and polished 18” Carrera II lightweight wheels. A “40 Jahre Limited Edition” designation sits below the 911 emblem on the rear decklid. The CARFAX report shows minor damage to the front bumper in May of 2007 and the seller reports the front bumper was refinished as a result. A small chip in present in the front bumper as well as a scratch in the passenger headlight cover. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the 911 40th Anniversary is upholstered in Natural grey leather with GT Silver painted seatbacks, a GT Silver painted center console, grey floor mats, aluminum-finished instrument dial rings, an Alcantara headliner, “911” insignias on the door sills, and a commemorative plaque bearing the car’s production number. This car was also optioned with the Bose High-End Sound Package and a remote 6-disc CD changer.

Powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six, the 911 40th Anniversary Edition is equipped with the Exclusive X51 Power Kit increasing output by 25 HP, for a total of up to 345 HP. The X51 Power Kit includes an upgraded valvetrain, cast-aluminum intake manifolds with a modified cross-section, a remapped engine tune, and Turbo radiators. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. This special edition also came factory-equipped with a limited-slip differential and Sport Suspension. The seller indicates the engine was replaced under their ownership by Porsche of the VIllage due to IMS failure and a corresponding invoice is included with the sale.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a clean title.

A "fixed bearing"? I thought Porsche used an improved ball bearing race, not an oil fed plain bearing as it had used in the Turbos.

  • marcromano 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Buddhasbelly The new engine is fitted with a fixed bearing. It won't fail. I went through the same when I bought my 40th.

I second @vierwelt - simple task that is prohibiting serious bidders from considering the car.

  • vierwelt (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

No need for a rack/lift to check the engine stamp, it is located on the driver's side of the case just above the oil pan towards the front. A simple crawl under to snap a photo just like in photos 76, 77, 78 will confirm the serial number and that the engine was replaced with the correct 'M96/03S' x51 spec engine type.

The aluminum X51 intake manifold will bolt to any M96 case. Only way to know for certain if all the correct bits are in the motor is the S designation on the engine type stamp on the case.

  • marcromano 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Porschehound Thanks. Easiest way to tell is to see if the aluminum unit in the back is there. That will tell you if it's an X51.
Likely a crate engine from Porsche, but it's a fair ask. I had to do the same with mine. Good luck with the auction.

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@ruf3600 I cannot get it up on the rack today. I’m sure Porsche Village replaced it with the correct engine since the customer paid for it. Per David Proffitt service consultant at Village at that time

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@marcromano This car is at H&H. They’re very busy. I cannot get it up on the rack today. They’re already closed maybe tomorrow Pending how busy they are

@airbenz Yes, it does have the extra package on it. Warranty was on the motor when it was first install for three years, but that’s gone.

  • airbenz (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Does the replacement engine have x51 power kit and is there a warranty on the replacement engine? Thanks

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

I will have to get you the number of the car tomorrow at the shop closed now Where is stored?

  • kaveh5000 (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

These cars are numbered on the lower console tag; which number is this one?

  • Peabo 4 months, 2 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $2,004

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Nashvegas Yes, the trunk was cracked. It was not all the way down. I didn’t see it any alignment issues with the vehicle. H&H inspected it. Also, there are two keys.

  • Nashvegas 4 months, 2 weeksago

    Lovely car.

Do you know why the fitment on the front bumper is off? Seems like it's out of adjustment... esp in pics 6, 10... and is the hood open or is the front edge/bumper really like that in pic 5:?

Also - only 1 key or do you have all keys?

    Thanks

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Very nice offering great to see one of the 4 special limited production 996s with low miles. From the pics and the city this car is in great hands. The guys at HH Motorcars are top notch and imo the best Porsche auto body shop in the Cincinnati area. Good luck!

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@oldsouth Oil has been changed, but may be break fluid and tires

  • oldsouth (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

So, it's pretty much due for a fluids change and new tires?

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Rlanning No luggage is with the car

  • Rlanning (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Is there luggage with this car?

  • wcode (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Thank you. Common practice, even without the house ;) Just wanted to confirm and appreciate the responsiveness

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Have a house in Montana that’s the only reason to save tax money

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@wcode The car is never been in Montana spin in Cincinnati. It’s whole life. It’s titled in Montana do to that There’s no tax there.

  • wcode (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

How did the car get from Montana to Ohio to replace the engine? Receipt appears to state not just "ordered the engine", but paid the service fees to install? Seems like a long distance and cost for an engine replacement?

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Everything on the motor is back to original from the factory. Nothing has been modified all factory replacement parts.

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@samols The engine was from Porsche factory replace to the IMS shaft, few miles because a previous customer didn’t drive it and my customer that has it now doesn’t drive it

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

    @Peabo Tires are original

  • Porschehound (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

@samols The engine was ordered by Porsche Village here in Cincinnati and replaced engine was a Porsche factory case

  • samols 4 months, 3 weeksago

Sorry, just noticed reason for engine replacement was stated in description. Would still like to know details on info about the replacement engine. Thanks

  • samols 4 months, 3 weeksago

Why the replacement engine and any detail? Rebuilt, new, updated/larger displacement, etc? Doe it retain the X51 package.

  • Peabo (registered bidder) 4 months, 3 weeksago

Like new, beautiful. With so few miles, please tell us the tire date codes. Thank you
