Now up for auction is this 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Coupe finished in Speed Yellow.  Commanding an original sticker price of over $111k, this 6-speed Carrera 4S came with rare options including a sunroof delete, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), painted air intakes, and the X51 Carrera Power Kit as well as a black full leather interior with Sport Seats, deviated stitching, and Custom Tailoring.  Having spent much of its life in a large private collection, this 996 shows just over 24k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Alabama.

This 996 was ordered in the eye-catching shade of Speed Yellow with optional painted middle and side air intakes on the front bumper as well as a rear model designation delete.  The electric sunroof was also deleted from the factory, a rare option that saves weight from the highest point in the car while providing a stiffer bodyshell.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a CARFAX report which shows rear-end damage to have ocurred in 2006.  This C4S rides on factory 18” Turbo Look II wheels currently dressed in Sumitomo tires.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a premium black full leather interior with extensive deviated stitching in yellow and Sports Seats with Porsche crested headrests. Other optional features include a thicker steering wheel and a shifter and brake handle trimmed in carbon fiber and aluminum, and insturment dials in Speed Yellow.  The cabin is described to be in excellent condition with all gauges and accessories working properly including the original Porsche CDR-23 radio.

This 3.6L flat-six engine was factory equipped with the X51 Carrera Power Kit option, which includes an upgraded intake manifold, larger headers, more aggressive cams, modified cylinder heads, revised programming, and a third radiator for an output of up to 345 HP.  Power is distributed to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission with a factory-optioned short-throw Sport Shifter.  Porsche Stability Management (PSM) with ABS 5.7, ASR, and ABD comes standard on the Carrera 4S and this example was equipped with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) which provide superior stopping power using 350mm cross-drilled ceramic composite rotors paired with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear aluminum monobloc fixed brake calipers.  An upgraded K&N air intake has been installed and the orignal airbox will accompany the sale. Limited-service information is available and there is no record of an IMS bearing replacement. A standard full service has been recently carried out and the seller has offered to accommodate a pre-purchase inspection for any potential buyer.

This sale will include the orignal window sticker, owner's manuals, aribox, and a clean title.  A true one-off configuration, this 2004 example is easily among the most generously optioned Carrera 4S models available.  Do not miss your chance to add this low-mileage 996 to your collection.

@Ex36 2 out 3 in running out of space

This is one of the coolest cars I've seen for sale in a while, just because of the unique spec and it's something you don't see very often - not many 996s got this kind of treatment when ordered. Carfax be damned, this was a great buy, even if the new owner needs to spend $3-4k on an IMS update (which definitely should be done asap on a low mileage 3.6L). Very cool offering.

  • Mercyhealth (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Ex36 especially the sunroof delete very uncommon in the 996 Carreras

  • Ex36 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Agreed. Been looking at 996's for a few years and never seen anything close to this spec.

    I think 55k is FMV.

As Jay Leno says “ you never pay too much, you just buy too early” when it comes to these collectibles, and for sure this is a collectible.

As I’m sure that bidding will jump at the last minute, at this current bid it’s significantly below market IMHO.

Recent sales of 40th anniversary 996s and low mileage high option C4S - generally they set the top market price for NA 996s - suggest 50-60k range.

It’s hard to value the options here, but suffice to say this is a rare car. The X 51, PCCB, add real market value. The slick top, sport seats, short shifter, and other niceties are icing on the cake.

Yes, it does need an IMSB, that’s ~3k or so.

Then there’s the color. Nearly every one is some shade of silver or gray. You don’t find many in these super cool colors and again, that seems to add more to resale value than when new. Odd, I know but “Easter egg” colors command a price premium.

    Did I note only 24 k miles?

Wonder what reserve is…? If I were listing I would put reserve at low to mid 50’s. But that’s me and I love the 996. One day, I believe they will command a price premium for their headlights much like the soft window Targas, slope nose 930s, etc that Porsche produces every now and then.

The seller has provided an invoice from Eurasian Auto Service Inc. dated from 10/14/2021 showing a DME report readout. Paint meter readings are also recorded on the invoice and the technician noted that there was no paintwork found. Please refer to the image posted in the photo gallery.

CarFax has just informed us due to the age of the record,
they are unable to update the CarFax as they originally promised.

The car has been metered and shown to be free of paintwork but the CarFax remains.

    @Skindoc thanks Doc!
Absolutely the cleanest 996 I’ve ever driven.

@Maxoverdrive Good morning! The shop searched high and low and could not find evidence of the IMS bearing being replaced. They quoted us $3,500 for the job. We'd be happy to facilitate the work for the next owner if they wish to have it done. Thanks!

@Manga1 The original police report from 2006 states the car was not damaged. Jennifer, the owner at the time, was bumped in a parking lot. We are working with CarFax on it now.

  • Manga1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    @UltraMotorcars thank you.
How come no paintwork if the rear was subject to a crash?

  • UltraMotorcars (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

DME Report Results: Total Engine Hours: 733.4
Last Range 2 Reported was 700.5 Hours Ago when it had only 32.9 Hours.

Paint thickness was measured to be between 3.2-4.6 mils over the entire car.
No paintwork was found on the vehicle.

The report is the last photo in the gallery.

@dennisconnie2 We do not have a record of it. The car is currently at a local shop for a DME report. They're going to look in the door jam, oil pan, and owners manual for the sticker denoting the bearing has been replaced.

  • dennisconnie2 (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

Beautiful car, however has the IMS bearing been upgraded?

  • UltraMotorcars (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

We just dropped the car off at Eurasian Birmingham for a DME report.
CarFax has researched the accident from 2006 and obtained a copy of the original report.
The car was not damaged. They are working on updating the Carfax to reflect this info.

Can you provide a DME report? Have a client in Dubai who is very interested.

  • Kenqv (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@UltraMotorcars Very odd.. thanks for the response though.

  • UltraMotorcars (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

@Kenqv I wish we had the info! It was back in 2006 when the car was just two years old.
The current owner (showing as owners two and three on CarFax) bought it not knowing it ever had as much as a scratch. CarFax started showing the damage report nine years later in 2015.

  • N1cavu (registered bidder) 2 years, 6 monthsago

A PPI would allow us to bid more fairly in lieu of the outstanding IMS issues with the 996's as well as the damage documentation to substantiate the degree of the rear end collision. Truly a gorgeous car that I would to own. Thanking you in advance.

I will start off I guess with what Everyone will ask.. Any pictures of the accident? Any pictures of the damage and who did the repairs? Receipts obviously, can we see them? (not interested in the “we were told it was just a bump” story.

  • UltraMotorcars (seller) 2 years, 6 monthsago

    Hello everyone. Ethan Crispo.
    I’m representing the seller.

Feel free to reach out with anytime and I’ll do my best to help out. It’s a killer 996! Truly a one of a kind spec and in immaculate shape.
